FWIW I think this would have been a perfect time for the Way-Interrupt "cross out the other option" mechanic on the "don't do it" choice. Even ignoring the fact it's a narrative and it'd be unsatisfying to go that way, I can't see Ling Qi realistically choosing "no" at this point, even with the serious personal risk. It'd be weird.

(Plus having the vote pop up, one of them cross out, and the chapter end on "I'll do it" would have been pretty badass. Alas.)

Or when Ling Qi was scouting and found a couple of Cloud scouts, and learnt her vanishing-dilluting skill for the first time?

1st longshot: More Huisheng shenanigans. Consider, they're going to be in the liminal and LQ knows SWD's Name. Last time, we managed to make ES Nightmare retreat with a name so we can definitely punch up. I also dig defeating the enemy using their own means if they're also mantling.

2nd longshot: Winter's crown? More like Winter's horns :V

I've no idea if being specced for communication will make LQ better or worse at surviving the upcoming confrontation. On one hand, she'll understand what's going on better, on the other she'll see way more. I hope her brain isn't completely melted by the end of it.

Lots of people are saying there's no way we can say no. Imo, if we commit to this action we could miss the last leg of the Summit. That'd be a big bummer and a good counterbalance to the vote. Letting experts deal with this shit while we focus on our long term political goals is entirely reasonable. In fact, LQ is indispensable to the Summit due to her unique relationship with the theocracy whilst general genocide could be ferried around by anyone skilled enough at Dreamwalking, and that might not even prove necessary.

That... honestly makes more sense than there being some sort of hard cutoff? Because for instance, there are IRL people who lived 110 years, does that mean that a Red Soul lives a shorter time than a rare and lucky mortal?

Sure, but there's a big difference between 700 and 900+, especially given that at that point all the regular sources of death are largely irrelevant here.
