And yeah, as I think about it I agree with the Jaromilla concerns too.
She's clearly not a fan of the checkpoints idea. If we had a really strong reason to want them that would be one thing, but as it is they create just as many problems for us as they solve imo. Given that, I think it's best to err on the side of not making our friend's life more difficult, and avoiding the risk of looking like we're poking our finger into Polar affairs or undermining her position.

Speaking personally, I'm open to throwing them more bones. A lot of my concerns are with optics.
1 in 4 judges being from the capital to do oversight making sure we're being loyal imperial subjects is something we can play off as us allowing because obviously we're in the right in the authority we're exerting. And it's us letting them, because of how gosh darn confident we are, not us caving to pressure. Totally.
1 in 4 of our field agent-y types (really 1/2 because the White Sky half doesn't "count" for this) being out of province makes us look weak in a different way, imo. It also raises split loyalties/chain of reporting concerns and is kind of a big mess.
If the MoI has other asks, that don't involve us quite so publicly drawing on their strength, I'm willing to listen.

Yeah, I don't want to saboatage Jarmilla's side of the equation, and I'll echo abeo's opinion that we don't want to give the MOI that much influence over our borers because it'll look awful and set what our out of province allies will see as a disastrous precedent.

I feel we are going to need more MoI and Theocracy favorabillity, especially MoI since we are probably going to have to sacrifice some of their favor in the more cultural matters where their goals are more directly opposed to ours.
While the increased influence is probably bad I doubt we can get MoI favor without also paying an influence cost so might as well give it to them on matters like border security and law instead of cultural matters.
