Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Speaking of, DWV now cancelling one attack should at least mean neither Suyin nor Ling Qi should get oneshot.

That's a massive change from last thread I didn't pick up on.

For an enemy to kill one of our allies, it basically has to have something that can Dispel and hit simultaneously, qi tap us, or CC us (death is the best CC, btw).

I was just despairing at how little of a support character we had become but damn that's solid.

Ying really did well by us with that Art.

-[X] It's threat comes from the ability to summon forth the pull of the Earth through it's shrill cry, but you know that it is mere sound. Quickly secure Li Suyin and descend into the pit above the beast's gaping maw while flying and raising your own defenses, then use the Spring's End Aria to freeze and mutilate the organ and as much of the earth around you as you can reach. Whether it can scream through frozen and shattered tongue and vocal chords or not, its a stationary target and thus an all-too-perfect victim. Ensure that it stays that way, using Hoarfrost Caress and Winter's End Cadenza to further stop it from being able to fight back or escape.

-[x] Reinforce Suyin and yourself with Vital Qi and attempt to free her movements as you close in and make yourself the main target. Try to stay close and incite it to focus on physical attacks instead of its gravitational fields in order to reduce the risk of cave-in, dancing around it as an annoying shadow. Avoid the use of flight. Offensively, simply attempt to destroy it quickly with our Frozen Seranade, though be prepared to unleash Winter's End if necessary to manage smaller beasts.

-[X] Reinforce Suyin and yourself with Vital Qi and attempt to dispel what ails her as you close in and make yourself the main target. The end of the spring will herald the end of its spiritual defences and allow yourself to blast all the monsters at once if need be, though a more targeted caress against the main threat is preferred. Do not be afraid of flying, though our mobility should be more than up to the task without.

Relatively mediocre hit and perceptiveness makes me think dropping PLR would be effective as additional decoys while we're in its face. It does run the risk of inciting its heavy AoE, but it could really go either way. If it thinks it has a meal right in front of its face, it could very well opt for more direct mom's. At least fir a little while before it gets frustrated at the meals turning out to have very little substance.
Wait.

Huh. Shit.

That's actually an interesting idea.

Alright! I'm cautiously optimistic that we can handle this fight while remaining in good condition. While Ling Qi doesn't normally tank and distract an opponent, we have demonstrated the ability to take multiple powerful strikes without falling unconscious in the Outer Sect Tournament with Ji Rong. Now, we have advanced a level of SCS since then, and this is in complete darkness which is our strongest suit.

The Impure Antlion will have difficulty grabbing us due to the multiple ways we have to avoid being grappled. Additionally, while this terrain would normally convey a steep advantage to the Impure Antlion, SCS pretty much allows us to ignore the terrain penalty here. TRF will be able to soak up an early hit or so while we dance around the thing and keep its attention focused solely on us.

Given that the Impure Antlion is an ambush predator, I feel that its defenses will be weaker than its offense. Which should help us blast it down to size with FSS. Hopefully, Li Suyin has some nice formation work to assist us in bringing the creature down. Bombs or some of the exploding needlework that she showed in the out sect vengeance spree. It'll be interesting to see how much damage we can avoid using SCS and TRF. Also, FSS's debuffs from Spring's End Aria and HC should help keep the Impure Antlion from doing anything crazy.

Assuming we are able to defeat and kill the Impure Antlion, it will be interesting to see what reagents Li Suyin is able to get from it. The core, the mandibles, and the exoskeleton should all be pretty interesting materials to work with.

One interesting thing is that it seems that green is when advanced elements come into play for spirit beasts (and thus for cultivators too most likely). Cui had her water teleport(space control), but that might have been simply because of her quality. This antlion on the other hand is just a regular spirit beast, but it can use gravity.

Therefore, it might be interesting to look into advanced elements like space or time in our next stay in the sect library.

I feel like it's less advanced elements and more conceptual bullshit.

For example, we had Music before but it feels like music as a concept only really started being applied at green.

Cui water teleporting could be swimming through water conceptually or something, and of course there's Gae Bolg. If Zhengui gets some cyclic destruction/renewal conceptual bullshit in green that could be awesome though.

On the other hand, scs already was conceptual, especially with one with shadow.

On the eldricht tentacle, even if it's just conceptual earth which emulate gravity and conceptual water, which imitate a portal, the fact that it's possible should make us try for more esoteric stuff, like a spacetime pocket art (to protect our allies against one attack), a spacetime labyrinth (to make approaching us harder), or maybe some time art (to beat up the action tyranny), or ...

In short, we bound ourselves to "realistic" keywords, but we might not need to.
