LQ and danger? And.... Not together? I won't believe it unless I see it!!!!

We PROMISED Cai Renxiang we would be careful with this stuff. Let's actually show we meant it by not giving in to the allure of diving deep into the deepest part of the pool when we barely learned how to stay afloat in the water.

Considering our rather rude awakening to dangers in the dream, I would be voting away from any of the truly dangerous stuff anyway so this just seems like an ez way to get some Shu Yue rep

I really liked this update. Excellent nuance in both the Diao Hualing and the Shu Yue dialogue. I especially like the pause here:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Diao Hualing looked back, stone faced several long seconds and a soft breeze blew through, scattering petals around them.
Then, very slowly, the woman cracked a smile. "I see, that is generous."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I feel like the soft breeze could have been from Diao Hualing. She is multiple years our senior, and already a young professional in a field dedicated to socializing. If she wanted to catch a scent of our motivations, all she would have noted was our sincerity. This isn't some sort of elaborate scheme to blackmail her or the Diao later. We're not trying to get them on the hook and then turn around to prove that they noticed something was wrong. We earnestly want reasonable and morally/ethically good outcomes. It'd allow her to be at ease.

big fan of the whole update though. All of Shu Yue's section is excellent. I love the LOOMING that Shu Yue does. 10/10

Aside from already having promised to avoid danger, I also don't want more story lines at the moment, I'm already close to overload most of the time in terms of remembering what we're actually supposed to do.

Not a permanent lockout. I've got no problem avoiding the deeps this time, lot of cool stuff in the shallows this trip.

Also, I do appreciate that Ling Qi worked in the Diao's mercenary mindset rather than appealing to their morality. She knew that they wanted spirited blooded children, specifically of the ancestry that Su Ling is from, and so pointed them in the right direction. It gets what they wanted and gets what she wanted, everyone wins except for Madam Grey.

Acknowledging the tension about the secrets that Ling Qi knew and what Diao Hualing suspected that she knew was neat as well. Even if Ling Qi is holding back information, the other players in this game are good enough to suspect that LIng Qi knows more than she is letting on, and maybe even suspect what that information might be.

And yet she's still willing to play ball and let everyone save face while still getting shit done, that's a good sign all around for future collaboration..
