Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Man. If feels like Golden Fields Route would have been perfect for Zhengui.

Now I want to visit and see if our boy can do anything there. But that would still be a long way off probably.

Please Vote for the arc end interlude. The character listed first is the viewpoint
[] Clockwork Blades (Cai Renxiang, Xia Lin, Xia Ren)
[] Worth of the Pen (Meng Dan, Cai Renxiang)
[] Heroes and Soldiers (Xia Lin, Gan Guangli)

Hmm. I think I'm probably most interested in Xia Lin's perspective, but Clockwork Blades will probably give us the best context for things.

Of course, the nature of cultivation enhancing power differentials in society means it is probably somewhat less common than in RL.

I actually have an idea from a civilization whose elected officials get more power the more populance support they have

Could work in threadverse too, deification by election is not completely out of the question...

This is the interaction i like most. Cai and tye xias are second for me.

I'd like the opportunity to look inside Meng Dan's head.

Maybe this will return qi draining into our arts' focus? That's not what I thought that vote would mean, but I'm alright with it.

[] Clockwork Blades (Cai Renxiang, Xia Lin, Xia Ren)

At the moment, Zhengui's "destruction and renewal" feels like the main focus of the arc; there's a coming storm, and that provides a pivot upon which the world can begin to change. While all of them are related to that frame, Clockwork Blades feels the most directly related to it.

The name "Worth of the Pen" combined with the Meng Dan+CRX combination feels like it'll talk about what history and literature and administration can provide in a world where everything's changing, but those forces aren't ones that are the true center of revolution and change--they're stabilizing forces that work in the margins to moderate and direct it. Which has its place, most definitely, but that's more about the aftermath of the actual destruction-and-renewal.

"Heroes and Soldiers" feels like it'll be centered on the themes behind the "I will serve CRX until I break" "then don't break too quickly" exchange before the tournament. How far do you go when the chips are down, so that you can moderate the destruction and make sure renewal follows? (Especially with the mini-adventure's "this is the inevitable fate of all swords" section.) I'm not too interested in this one, though, because Ling Qi's already examined and is still examining those concepts, and I feel like we have a decent understanding of where Xia Lin and GG will stand on it.

"Clockwork Blades" places CRX and the Xias in the context of the Duchess's order. CRX wants to improve it, but she's always visualized that within the bounds of her mother's plans for her; remember her previous talk about believing there are no accidents where Shenhua is concerned. But CRX is still dealing with the dawning revelation that maybe that's wrong, and having her focusing on an embodiment of that order--the White Plumes and those within it--feels like a really damn productive avenue for that. I want to see her personal destruction-and-renewal arc in as much detail as we can, personally.

[] Heroes and Soldiers (Xia Lin, Gan Guangli)

I feel like I prefer to spend Meng Dan's scenes on his relationship with Ling Qi since the way they interacted was the most interesting part of his previous appearances. There's a mystery regarding Xia Lin and I feel like Gan Guangli would be far better at teasing it out than the two people we've seen Lin be most disciplined with. Clockwork Blades is probably a one time chance though, to see how those characters work without us there.

I'm thinking that UGM get an Endings theme for a more Ling Qi approach to Zhengui's destruction making it more killy. It already has Inevitability so we just continue our thing of slowly grinding our enemies down while they can do nothing about it. And then WHR gets the Renewal Keyword in place of Security, replacing the Dispel shields with a UHE's free reactivation so that our Techs can be reduced to ash and come back again rather than not be destroyed at all.

My read is that Zhengui wants to do a bunch of cool stuffs, mainly creating new things. Not small new things, but big ones which would last (and eventually wither), and actualy affect the landscape -- but due to the nature of the Sect, he couldn't. There's too many powerful people in there, grouped up in a relatively small space, and any changes he make would either get flattened back, or too trivial to even matter, hence the sect being too small.

tl;dr: Zhengui wants a really big sandbox for himself where he don't need to share with the older teens :V

Probably more about the spirits. Like he said, it aint about the human things.

The sect got a lot of powerful spirits around with their own territory. The Grade 4 spider, the Silver Stag that we met that time, Zeqing before... The sect is for better or worse claimed by other regents. Zhengui wants his own place to rule over.

[] Clockwork Blades (Cai Renxiang, Xia Lin, Xia Ren)

i'm more interested in a CRX point of view chap. Has she grown any? and if so in which direction?

So we're kinda like the parentheses? We got the idea of the end is just the beginning of something else, and Zhengui is all about making that something else?

Not opposed to any of them, so I guess I'll just wait to see the results (and vote when I feel like it)

Clockwork Blades I say is probably the most main story out of all the choices. It reveals more on the main Cai politics as well as seeing more of Xia Ren. This choice most probably reveals more on how Renxiang convinced Shenhua on bringing Gan along.

Worth the Pen is a peek inside Meng Dan and the relationship between the Meng and Cai. While we can probably trust what Meng Diu spoke to us, there's most definitely more hiding in the background. Also since it's Meng Dan, expect more history lore probably which is always a good thing.

Heroes and Soldiers is a peek inside Xia Lin and how it contrasts with GG. From the previous updates, we see the difference between Xia Lin and Guangli in their interaction and perspective on ancient object spirits. This vote probably further expounds on that, maybe revealing more of Xia Lin and/or GG's past. It's also the most side story-ish of the three.

[] Worth of the Pen (Meng Dan, Cai Renxiang)

Yeah, as nice as that Guangli was, this chapter really made me hope Ling Qi talked to Meng Dan instead. He would have been a bit distracting, but also a decent source of new, scholarly Insight.
