[X] Hanyi, whose nature was a key to the mission. (Increase group social cohesion)

We went with friendly and more social, so let's all in on being social then. And while Hanyi distracts, tell best boi we arraigned a date with Cui for him

[X] Zhengui who shared some of her combat roles. (Increase group combat synergy)

She's the bodyguard, her whole point of even coming along is combat. Also beyond that, Hanoi just had a little arc to herself, it's Zhengui's turn.

I posted earlier about this, but--I'm not sure what marginal value increased group social cohesion is actually supposed to provide, in terms of getting the mission done, when most members aren't going to be at the negotiating table. So I'm voting the option that appears to provide actual value.

She is a combatant. We want her to fight well with us. And fighting well with us will probably increase social cohesion eventually, too.

She's trigger happy around spirit's that might pose a threat to us, instead of feeding into that we can instead nip it in the bud when were on the journey and attempt to talk to spirit's without causing potential misunderstanding's and undue escalation.
I see it as the martial or diplomatic route for either choice on the way to the meeting.

But willing to let Ling Qi take the lead when dealing with those spirits. I don't think it's as big a deal as it seems.

With the inclusion of her and the Meng scion this is as much a project of inter-Imperial house diplomacy as it is a diplomatic outreach trip. Plus, even if not everyone will be at the table, a cohesive group will be useful for cooperation and coordination to present a unified front. Let's not pretend that outside forces wont try to poke socially at any weak points. In the meantime I am fully confident in our present combat capabilities to deal with trouble to and from the mission; if the mission itself ends in combat we probably fucked up. I say we prep to maximize success.

That was within Sect ground's from Spirit's that posed little threat to us with our standing party yet still gave her an itchy trigger finger, and most if not all the spirit's within Sect ground's have a longstanding deal to not cause unnecessary damage to disciple's.
There will be more spirit's without that long-lasting deal on the journey to the wall of varying threat level we can attempt to negotiate instead of defaulting to fight mode.

For the record, I'm ok with both options on this one, just voting for the one I'd like to see more.

She and her company or whatever have dealt with Night Parades and stuff, so of course she's a bit twitchy. But she still deferred to Ling Qi's judgement in every instance, so I'm not seeing this as being a great possibility that she'll react negatively enough to ruin stuff during the mission.

Hm. Something to keep in mind what works for spirits used to interacting with humans, and with constant upkeep of relations by sect cultivators that is true isn't guaranteed to work with those residing in the Wall. Because the size of the place makes it unlikely spirits there have interacted with sect disciples much, and thus their interaction with humans is limited to CN who don't reside upon the ground very much meaning there interaction much less positive interaction with humans is minimal alongside a group of human traveling across the ground being a foreign concept to them.

This is something of an issue as a large part of the safety for the expedition resides in the size of the Wall, and the low power level of everyone going on it means our best defense is simply not being noticed by hostile forces, which is a risk when clashing with anything high 3rd, or low 4th realm. The increased social cohesion for the group means that predatory spirits won't mistake any underlying for a weakness they need to simply wait for an opening to get a meal, and/or spirits are less likely to attack due to having no understanding of human social hierarchy meaning they consider hostile intent as a threat.

this girl is here with us to protect us on our mission, not to become our new BFF. I'd rather help her do her job properly.

She actually hasn't gone and fought the Night Parade that was the horse who's previous owner died to it. Were also not going with the entire White Plume's to my knowledge, rather we'd be going only with a small handful of cultivator's from CRX, Qi, Meng, and Lin so as not to spook the ice ladies into skedaddling.
All it take's is the wrong impression and bad circumstance's to cause whatever spirit we run into on the journey to take offense since their very prickly about that, and hey maybe it won't come to that, but we shouldn't just ignore and brush it aside to chance only for it to bite us in the ass.

That'd be rather ironic since our entire mission is avoiding just that :V

seems the natural follow up to last vote

Let's increase the combat effectiveness of our bodyguard.
