Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Just in time as the assassin's flesh tore apart under the strain of the growing qi, and a wave of utter foulness washed over them. It was not acid, nor slime, nor anything else so easy to describe. It was the essence of filth, foul beyond words, and even beneath her technique, Ling Qi gagged and held back tears from watering eyes. She felt her technique shatter under the weight of it, but it had held long enough. The technique had passed. A vast scoop of the rampart was gone, eaten away, rotted into sludge.

Man I'm getting tyranid vibes from these guys.

Ling Qi felt warmth. Tongues of flame licked her skin, and gusts of wind tugged at her hair, hot enough to melt flesh and boil blood, they were comfortably warm to her. She felt Xiulan tugging on her arm, pulling it around her shoulder. "That's not gonna work, you're too short," she murmured dizzily.

She's already wounded Ling no need to finish her off...

However, the last thing she experienced as her consciousness faded was Gu Yanmei's head whipping around in alarm as the earth rocked, no mere minor tremor like Ling Qi had felt before, but a violent quaking that threw her from her feet. Far, far to the south, in the great mountains of the wall, Ling Qi saw the sky split asunder. She saw a mountaintop disintegrate into so much powder, and saw the storm wracked clouds rip apart in an expanding cone leaving behind a bare blue sky. Gu Yanmei's molten wings flared out, and she felt the Fourth realms energies slam into place over the rampart and village shielding everyone from the terrible gale that ripped through in its wake.

Definitely not kosher...

"Elder Zhou has been slain."

Probably needed an army to take out ,Muscle Elder. I hope he made them work for it.

I wanna see what we looked like from an outside perspective.

Previous time something like this happened Xiulan jumped into a tribulation.

This is not going to be good for her, I fear.
That time was different. She failed the sect test, LQ was passing her and she had HJ reject her on top of it. This time she succeed, her friend was just a maniac as always and get herself hurt doing LQ-things. It will effect her but doubt her answer this time will be to eat a tribulation.

RIP Zhou. you will be missed. The update was very cool though! I look forward to see Six, Zhengui and Hanyi after this. They've done very well and deserve treats.

TBH, I am not sure that Xiulan is going to see it like this. Still, fair enough, there are mitigating factors for it to not shatter her like back then.
She's already faced one, so I think the bar for her to seek another is lower. Don't think we're quite there yet even so, however. Maybe doubling down on training or taking a risky mission, though?

Clearly the proper vote after an amazing arc, such as this one, is:

[X] Ripples (Cai Renxiang)
[X] Shockwaves (Su Ling)
[X] Churning (Gu Xiulan)

To be honest, I just want more. I don't particularly care which one is chosen, as long as it keeps coming.
I was seriously considering doing this.

TBH, I expect Gu Xiulan's going to get an Advanced Insight out of this.

This was her Han Fang moment in a lot of ways. She just saw a friend take a poisoned dagger because that friend wanted to protect her.

I mean, let's be honest here, Gu Xiulan was in some ways the MVP of that fight, we'd have never taken the fucker down if she wasn't laying down the DPS, Ling Qi's role was mostly just support and keeping the assassin from turning the tables. She tends to take bad things happening and then turn them into fuel for her infinite blazing flame.
