Really, its more the fact Dab completely botched their roll. They botched it so hard they are likely to game over, their lands burning and turned into tribal lands... without the hospital.

As a courtesy, I'll be marking any options that will only be valid this final turn as Urgent, but only if it can be logically foreseen.

[X] Plan Hospital
Ambition
[X] Become Huntsman: You want to gain the prowess of a Huntsman.
Focus
[X] Family: You will concentrate on family life, ensuring your children are not raised by a distant mother. (Diplomacy +2, Increase in Fertility, Increase in Health)

Personal/General
[X] Host a Grimm Hunt: Invite the nobles of your realm to participate in a hunt! Test your mettle against the creatures of Grimm. Starts the 'Grimm Hunt' event.
-10 Lien
[X] Hire a Bookbinder: Finding an experienced Bookbinder to restore the old tome you discovered last season would be the swiftest way to unlocking it's secrets, but such work would take time, and you would need to be careful as to who you hire.
- 1 to 5 Lien cost.

Diplomacy
[X] Write-in: Try to get your King and fellow lords to aid in the Counter Raid on the Dab hospital.

Martial

[X] Marshal Action: Do your duty as Marshal for your liege. (Automatic, must be in all valid plans)
[X] Order Military Stockpiling: Invest in the stockpiling of weapons and ammunition, in the event war should be thrust upon you.
10 Lien
5 Dust
(Will this help with the Raid?)

Stewardship
[X] Study (Strange Disc): The strange disc that you found with the tome is...
[X] Upgrade Roads: Invest in the travelling infrastructure of your realm. Should allow for more efficient trade and the speedier passage of armies.
70 Lien

Intrigue
[X] Aid the Humanitarian Aid (URGENT): With the Dab Royal Hospital under attack, your chances of buying a doctor has gone up in smoke! However, if your agents can get to the hospital in time, you could get an exceptional doctor who has experience dealing with the plague. If you wait too long, however, you'd find nothing but ash.

Learning
[] Study the Significance of Dust: Children of Remnant place an emphasis on Dust, and though you think of them as nothing more than useful trinkets and power, there should be a reason why it is so important.
[] Write-in: Didn't someone say a Maiden caused the volcano? Well, just in case you should probably learn a bit about the Scion's religion, if only to avoid their wrath or gain a powerful ally.

Free Actions
none

Special Actions
[X] Free: Support Cilmi's Expedition (Write In Extent): With the Knight's finances as they are, Cilmi's plans to find this Before Times island will take years to reach fruition. At the most basic level, Cilmi's expedition needs a good ship, an experienced crew, enough supplies to make it to the Kingdom of Vale and enough Huntsmen to fight off the sea Grimm. It's a heafty amount of Lien and time, but it could be well worth it. (Cilmi claims it requires: 1000 Lien, 50 Dust, Huntsmen to be assigned. Does not need to be taken all at once.)
25 lien per turn and our huntsmen if he helps us with the hospital

Councilors
Chancellor - Alan Black is, as always, a very useful tool for you to use... Even if his poetry is terrible.
[X] Keep at Hand: Keep Alan at court. Your own diplomacy rolls will have an added bonus, and if any crises come up, you will be much more prepared to deal with them.

Marshal - With the arrival of Ser Reinhardt, your council meetings have become much less grating on the nerves, though your new Marshal is almost excessively humble.
[X] Recruit Troops: Send out Ser Reinhardt to recruit more men and women to fill out the ranks of your levies. More troops will join your armies, and any incurred losses will be more swiftly replenished.
[X] Train Troops: Order Ser Reinhardt to invest time and effort into improving the quality of your levies. Your levies will not increase in number, but they'll be a little more effective in battle.

Steward - Amity Rose's work continues to be exceptional, even when she appears to be overworked. If there is one person you can rely on in your council, it would be her.
[X] Oversee Upgrading: Have Amity organize and oversee the upgrading of your Holding. Will lower the time to build the upgrade, might upgrade it beyond the initial scope of the project, and gain a small chance to recoup some of the expenses invested in its construction.

Spymaster - To say Balthazar is a cold fish is to say that Dust is useful. You're still not sure what is wrong with him (the going theory is that he is somehow repellent to Aura) but he is a very, very useful tool to have.
[X] Keep at Hand: Keep Balthazar at court. Your own Intrigue rolls might have an added bonus, and if any crisis come up, you'll have a capable set of plausible deniability hands.

Head Deacon - Deacons are often known as Godbotherers, but Sullivan is the most pleasant one you know. If you have any ideas on how he can improve life in your lands, then he will do it.
[X] Draft the Children's Book: Unifying centuries of gospels, hymns, and other religious paraphernalia is a task which people have spent their lives trying to accomplish. The real trouble is not the editing of the book, but rather presenting a good case to the Synod of each continent, a notoriously fractious lot. (Takes two turns.)

Huntsman Superior- While Henry Liddel is not your first choice for Huntsman Superior, you can't deny that he is good at what he does.
[X] Teach Me, Good Hunter!: Have Henry begin training you in the ways of the Huntsman.

And I forgot to finish the entry for studying the strange disc. Let me fix that.

Edit: And fixed.

Edit: And fixed the loans. Everything should be up to date now. If it isn't, please tell me.

  • [X] Plan Family Matriarch
-[X] Have a Daughter: You want to have a strong daughter.
-[X] Family: You will concentrate on family life, ensuring your children are not raised by a distant mother. (Diplomacy +2, Increase in Fertility, Increase in Health)
-[X] Family: Spend some time with your family.
-[X] Spouse: Spend some time with Jove.
-[X] Speech Lessons: Spend a handful of lien and an insignificant sum of prestige to hire a Diplomacy Instructor, hopefully increasing your ability to diplomacize.
[X] Marshal Action: Do your duty as Marshal for your liege. (Automatic, must be in all valid plans)
-[X] Personally Patrol: Russet is occupied with other matters, or he does not fully possess your trust. Personally sally forth with your retinue to keep your lands safe.
-[X] Upgrade Roads: Invest in the travelling infrastructure of your realm. Should allow for more efficient trade and the speedier passage of armies.
-[X] Repair Temple Minno: With the ruins reclaimed, you can now return the Temple of Minno to it's former glory. It would take time, but new Holdings are always worth it.

-[X] Patrol Lands: Your lands aren't in the best shape right now. Sending out Henry Liddel to help keep the Grimm in check should do some good. The sight of a huntsman always inspires the serfs, and often assuages their fears. He might also return with some intel, should he discover anything useful.

I really should keep this open for a while longer because I kinda screwed up the options, but we have such a clear majority that I can't gerrymander it anymore.

Plan: Family Matriarch wins! With the ambition and focus chosen...

Oh Dust. That's a fertility of 150.

Edit: Update: RAIU CAN'T INTO MATH!

I know that my math has to be dead wrong, there's no way that should work out, there has to be some modifier that I'm missing... But I think it's accurate.

That's one way to make a Dynasty grow.

o_O

If you're using the base Fertility system for CK2 pregnancies, that is too high. Fertility is a % value tied to each character, base 40-50%, affected additively by modifiers. IIRC, the mechanic in-game is that every 40? 60? days it does an event pulse multiplying together the male and female's % values, and using that as the probability of successful pregnancy (the base value is ~.25, so roughly every four or six months a couple will produce a child, so roughly once every 14-16 months there's a kid.

I knew there was something very, very wrong with my math. Ok, well, it won't get really wrong until Skye is roughly 26. Thanks for saving me from a mental breakdown.

I'm pretty sure I messed it up, too. Most of my guessing was inference, because it's one of the incredibly rare mechanics that people haven't teased apart completely. There's a number of other modifiers, and apparently there's a .5 modifier to all pregnancy automatically, as well as some other modifier that abstracts away nearly 50% of the children a couple can have (since they would statistically die before age 5) to prevent family tree bloat.

I would try to argue that, but then again I only recently learned that I'm technically the middle child of my family, so... Yeah.

Speaking of family, I think it's time to reveal the title of the next update, since it's going to be an update based around a single action. Yes, I've been sitting on it for a while.

The Last Gasp of Earth Ravenswood

Would an invocation of the chaos die be required to know the chance of our child, if it's a girl, being a maiden? And how much of a shit storm it would cause?

Also:

SON OF A CRAVEN PROGENITOR BASTARD!!! Wait a minute we have fate points, QM what do fate points do?

Oh no, a Chaos Die wouldn't be required for such a thing. It's just a matter of either having the daughter get noticed by Maiden-Sama enough that she will be the last person she thinks about as she dies (rare, but possible), or complete, random chance (A 1 on a 1d1000000). Chaos Die, unfortunately, can only rarely bother the maidens, because they scare the crap out of the Chaos Die. In fact, the maidens may be the only ones who can kill the Chaos Die. I'll let you stew on that.

Fate Points are described in the rules, which I have now edited, because the Nameless One has his eyes on you for now. :) Since Fate Points take your fate into your own hands, they will trigger a roll of the Chaos Die.

I would like to spend a fate point.

On nothing in particular, I just want to trigger the chaos die again.

Let's see...

Edit: I hope you are happy. Because someone is dying for this.

Of course good things happened. Vale accidentally the French Revolution, and that was historically a great time for everybody!
