    Excerpt from 'The Ghiscari Wars', by Daenerys Caeltygar. During a Meeting of the Ruling Council of Ghis in the last Months before the outbreak of the fifth Ghiscari War, when the various Factions debated under the eyes of Emperor Grazdan XIII. on how to react to the growing Aggression towards the Empire within the Valyrian Freehold, General Hazdru'bl took the Stage and delivered his infamous 'Claws of the Harpy'-Speech.


    My most esteemed Emperor and deeply respected fellow Councilmen...I have come to say my Piece to this Debate.


    I have heard many of the present Councilmen arguing for a peaceful Solution. That we should appease the Dragon-Rider for a few more years at least. That we will need to build up more strength before we can fave the Legions of the Freehold again.


    I understand your concerns. I truly do. I know that you all, just like me, only want the best for our glorious Empire.


    However...I fear that your good Intentions are misguided.


    The Valyrians WANT this War. And they want it now. Their Glory-Faction has the Majority in the Senate and, day by day, they sway more and more Voices to their side. They will not be satisfied by Trinkets and pretty words. No...nothing but the complete and utter destruction of our beloved Ghis will ever satisfy them. They want to finish what their last four Wars began and wipe us out once and for all.


    The War is coming. We cannot stop it. Like a Storm of Fire, the Valyrians will rise on their Dragons and aim to smash our Armies and burn our Cities to the Ground, so that we may never rise again.


    I see fear and uncertainty in many eyes here. I know that a few already believe us doomed, believe the Valyrians to be invincible and the Claws of the Harpy to have grown dull.


    But, my fellow Countrymen...you are wrong!


    Have our Armies not smashed Revolts and Rebellions by the score ever since the end of the last war? Are our Soldiers not excellently paid, trained and quipped? Are our Officers and Generals not experienced from the Years of Campaigning? Is at the core of my own Army not a force of battle-hardened Veterans and some of the strongest, most obedient Harpies in the Empire? Is our Economy not flourishing and our Coffers full again?


    When I look upon the Claws of the Harpy, they are not dull - they are as sharp as ever!


    'So what?', I hear some of you ask. 'We had all of these Things in the last Wars and still lost!'


    Yes, indeed...but we have now something that we did not have before. Our greatest Advantage will come from our Enemies.


    Our Spies have reported, that the Valyrians consider their Victory all but assured. They believe that one small push will be all that is needed to bring us down. In their boundless Hubris, some of them even expect our glorious Empire to fall in mere Weeks!


    What Arrogance. What NERVE!


    It seems the Freehold has already forgotten how terrifying we can be. They have forgotten their Legions that were crushed by our Forces. They have forgotten the Dragons that fell prey to our Harpies. They have forgotten the great Defeats my own Father has dealt them! They have grown fat, lazy and overconfident...and they have forgotten how strong the Claws of the Harpy are!


    I say...let them come. And let us remind them!


    Soon, their Legions and Dragons will come for us in this Final War for our Fate, our very survival...and we will be ready.


    We shall go our way into battle...and we shall be accompanied by the spirits of our fallen Ancestors, to carry out the Justice they have long since deserved. We will smash the Freeholds Armies and burn their Lands to the Ground!


    The Claws of the Harpy shall run read with the blood of their Men, Women and Children! They shall crush the brutish Beasts they use as their Mounts! They shall tear their Nation to Pieces and toss them into the Abyss of History!


    And once and for all, we will put the Valyrians into their rightful Place: As lowly Slaves of the glorious Empire of Ghis, clad in Iron Chains under the Claws of the Harpy...for all Eternity!

    I'm not to worried about our lands, but we mustn't understate the value of being a land owner. In ancient times, most positions required you to be a land owner, so it is arguably more important than fame and glory.
     
    Regarding the upcoming Ghiscari War, what would be the possible ways it could end? Do we want to manipulate it to go as originally with the canon, with the total destruction of Ghiscari Culture. Or would we rather subvert the Ghiscari and their culture to fit Valyrian culture.

    Personally I would destroy the heavy reliance on slaves, partly because of my 21st century sensibilities but also because slavery always messes with the economy (look to Rome) of an empire and its values. Most of the time it leads to decadence and you have to always be fighting wars of expansion and aggression for slaves.

    Do a Dany and free the slaves? Might work but the Freehold also uses slavery, so it might have to be a long term process.

    Well the thing is...

    He might just destroy Slavery to destroy the Ghiscari, an enemy that has been harming his people for generations.

    And that may lead to genocide.

    And while, that may be a good thing for the rest of the people who are no slaves... it would destroy the entire global economy of this world.

    (and it would also break the sites rules because genocide is bad and should not be advocated for.)

    Hmm, I still think cultural subversion of the Ghiscari is what is probably the safest and least dickish thing we could try and achieve, I'm still torn regarding slavery.
