The Smallest of Dragons, The Loudest of Roars (An ASOIAF Valyrian Adventure Quest)

And Something I should say now that I've got some things sorted out.

Even if you are alone... you still have your dragon.

Also, really though, anyone have any questions, or you all good?

Is it possible we will be able to levy auxiliaries from conquered peoples, or will our armies be purely Valyrians.
Either or. Most legions from Valyria are in fact Valyrian only in this start date.

later date would be overrun with foreign auxiliaries.

Another question if you don't mind, but how will military management play out? Will we have to worry about statistics such as rations, and a whole load of other things in order to keep a functioning army.

Will we even have control over a contingent of the Valyrian military, since we're not really a powerful house yet.

You will, unfortunately, not be worried about that bit of details... as you are still the lowest ranking House of the forty Families.

You won't be taking direct command over anything besides your guards, and your dragons.

No.

Only your personal household guard will ever be under your direct command unless you are given an office in the Senate... which is very unlikely.

Since we've chosen the Ghiscari Wars as our main setting for the quest, does that mean we might have the opportunity to interact with peoples and races like the Ibbenese, the Jhoguin, and the Ifequevron?

My mind steers itself eastwards, to the lands of the Yi-ti. (It would be like if the Han met the Romans, which would have been awesome.)

Yes. Sincethey aren't destroyed, enslaved and or extinct yet, you will be able to do just that if you wish.

You can also meet the Yi-Ti if you wish.

Character Creation Part 2: Dragon, and Ruin.
Character Creation Part 2: Dragon, and Ruin.

Your Dragon: You had a dragon, a friend, and… servant who served you faithfully through your life, ever since you first met the beast.

What is your Dragon's Name:
[]Write in here

What does your Dragon look like?
[]Place image here

What is your relationship with your dragon:

[]Bonded (Available because you have Dragon Hearted): Your egg was placed next to your crib when you were a babe, as is tradition when a new child is born, and there are eggs waiting to be handed out. Unlike the vast majority of Dragons… yours hatched almost immediately, and you have been bonded for life ever since. And in that bond you share… you feel something else… something you have spent a lifetime trying to figure out. (Can only Take the Small Size for your Dragon)

[]Inherited: Your Grandfather was ancient when you turned nine. He had wanted you to have his dragon, seeing as the egg you had in your possession had not hatched. It was a great honor to take on your Grandfather's Dragon… The only honor that was bestowed upon you by the old man. (The Dragon can be any up to Very Large)

[]Tamed: You had walked into the forests near the Fourteen Flames, looking for wild dragons. And you found one… one that was like you in a sense. Or at least, took to you better than the hunters that tried to kill it did. (The Dragon can be any size)

What is the Size of your Dragon?:

[]Small: Your Dragon is young, fast and swift, rideable by even a novice rider, but lacking the true power of the Dragon Lord needs to really make an impact… For now at least.

[]Large: The Average size of a Dragon, Swift in the air, a fire breathing monster that can wreck armies as great as the Legions.

[]Very Large: Your Dragon is above average in size for a dragon… It has eaten well, and has lived for over two generations… It still hulks through the air, and strikes fear to all that sees it.

[]A Monster: This Dragon has seen countless Riders before it… Close to a dozen now, with you being no different. It is less an agile beast, more a monster that can take anything in terms of punishment. It will not falter…. It will not fail… And it most certainly will never die.

But even with Dragons…

Ruin has befallen your family.

What Ruin has Befallen your Family?:

[]The Outlaw's Justice: Your Father was a man who had a lust for power, influence, and above all else… history. He wanted to be remembered as the man who brought the Freehold to Greatness! Unfortunately, his idea to bring the Freehold to Greatness was through Tyranny. He refused to step down when the Crisis was over, and the Freehold was safe… And well, like every dictator that tried to seize power from the Senate… they failed. He was eaten by the dragons, torn to pieces. But that was not far enough to sate the Senate's Wrath. Everyone died… from the noblest and honorable men of your family who had given everything for the Freehold, to the women whose only crime was standing by the men they loved… to the Children who knew nothing… and the babes who did not get a chance to live. The Dragons they once rode were captured… the eggs left to you to rebuild the families dragon riders, once you had heirs of your own. The only reason you lived… was to Watch… and to not create a power vacuum for a hundred or more great houses to try and rise to take your place in the Senate, and of the Fortey Families themselves.

[]The Murder: You had seen the smoke rise from your home… It was nothing you thought… nothing at all. Until you returned home… your family Villa in ruins… your Dragons, dead or scattered across Valyria and the fourteen flames. And your Family all dead. Their bodies are strewn at the dinner table… the feast still warm. They were waiting for you to come home when they were killed… But no one remained. You were all alone.

[]The Freehold's Triumph, Another's Fall: It was supposed to be a glorious day. A Day of Victory, a day of… something far greater than just another battle. Your father wanted the whole Family here, to witness the great triumph. But it all went wrong… The Harpy was dead… but it rose from the ground burning like it could not stop! You didn't know how you survived… but you did… when everyone else died around you.

[]The Pox: The Pox came and went… Everyone in the Vila got it… sweeping through like the plague… And everyone died… Except you. You wanted to cry, to curse the gods for your suffering. But these things happen… and you need to keep going, for their sake. The Families Dragons mourn for the loss of their riders, but they fly away to their hordes and caves in the Flames… waiting for new riders to claim them.

But even through Ruin, you managed to be someone in the Freehold Government… What position do you hold, at such a Young Age?

Note: You are too young to Enter Senatorial politics (you are 17), and if you enter it, you are liable to be punished under Valyrian Law. If you do chose an office... You will have to navigate Valyrian Senatorial affairs.

[]None: You were far too young to hold any Senatorial Position by the Valyrian constitution. A Regent will be taking your place until you are 21, of age to enter Valyrian politics.

[]Senator: You are a member of the Freehold Senate… A position nominally inherited from one senator to another, normally passing through father to son, or whoever is the most competent among the family… man or woman. This position was thrust upon you, upon the death of your family, violating the constitution in every sense of the word.

[]Tribune of the Wingless: Not Everyone in Valyria is Dragon riders… and they needed to be properly represented in the Senate. Their duties are to see through the hundreds of petitions for the Senate, and make sure they are at least brought up on the Senate Floor. To make sure their interests are met. Many know the history of the Storming of the Senate, five hundred years ago, when the masses stormed the Senate, and held the entire senate hostage. While a member of the Fortey families holding at least one of the Tribune positions is seen as a noble endeavor, for their term at least… Most of the power given to this office is token at best… The only power you have is to veto laws that did not suit the interests of the people. Which is why every single faction here… wanted them on their good side. The political deadlock was… the bane of all governments in the Freehold. Even if such a thing violated the Constitution.

[]Censor: You were elected, by chance to the second-highest political office in the land, the Censor. Charged with managing the finances of the state, the Valyrian census, even a few junior military appointments, primarily within the tax collectors… You are possibly the most powerful bureaucrat in the State… and there is another problem… Why the hells did they elect you when you weren't even up for election? In fact, the better question was… who was manipulating the power players behind the scenes? And in all the god's names would they blatantly sentence you to such a painful existence... where your mere presence would be liable to get you executed under Valyrian Law.

AN: Enjoy and please, vote in plan format.

Also: There is a Moratorum for 12 hours for discussion and building plans

Ohhhh, this seems interesting! I think that a good plan would be one involving The Outlaws Justice and becoming Censor. It would make an interesting narrative, the last scion of a tarnished line, thrust onto a powerful position and all but set up to fail due to his young age and reputation! Will he rise to the challenge? It would alos take advantage of our character's main strength, his administrative ability. (As for the Dragon, I'd prefer a bonded one, but I understand if other people would be cautios of choosing that one.)

As I said, I think we already have too many Weaknesses and not enough Strengths. Piling it on and on with a Position that we are ill-suited for, a Tragedy that really leaves us with almost nothing outside of just our dead Family and a Dragon that can die rather easily is just too much for me. There is 'Making it a Challenge' and then there is 'Trying to Fail'.
