The Smallest of Dragons, The Loudest of Roars (An ASOIAF Valyrian Adventure Quest)

Rhaegon I: Back Together, little by little:
Rhaegon I: Back Together, little by little:

-[X]Vila Ventures: Your Family's villa was home to one of the greatest assets to your family… Sheep and Grapes. You were known throughout the world as of the Great producers of wine… perhaps you can find a way to become even better. Rolled:1D100 => 13+70=83

You were not a great producer of wine, nor really knew how to do anything more than drink it as it came to you from the servants and laborers in a goblet from the stores.

The place was… well cared for, in spite of recent events. The foremen and workers continued to work away… you were still alive, to pay their wages.

There was no reason to abandon you, even when they had the choice to.

It felt good. To know that at least. The loyalty to the family vault and coin was not so fickle as the morality of… life.

Daemon, the head foreman smiled at yo as you sat at the desk. "I'm glad you took the time to come Master Rhaegon."

"I needed to make sure the villa was still producing up to my families standards." You stated quietly as you looked at the bottle.

"I can assure you that we are." Daemon stated, looking a bit angered at the remark.

You were taken aback by his anger. "And please explain to me then… why should I trust your word?"

"I've been working with wine for over forty years boy, I have tasted the greatest vintages, and the worst piss our competitors ever produced in my lifetime… I have seen your uncle grow wine so well, that it can make a dragon drunk with only a glass." He stated. "I have grown grapes that are so sweet, they can make a woman pleasure herself to get one for her parties." His smile grew. "They're that good boy."

"Can you grow more… and produce it better?" You asked.

"With time, yes." He replied. "Time and better help."

"How much help?" You asked.

"Another hundred hands master-"

"Done." You replied.

Daemon was floored. "Just like that?"

"I don't have any other expenses, save for taxes… Earn me coin Master Daemon… prove yourself the greatest wine in the world." You stated. "I expect nothing less."

Daemon smiled. "As you wish… Master Rhaegon."

Reward: Your Vineyard is producing more wine for the world. You will gain a shipment of wine in a years time, and you can lead a trading expedition, or have someone else lead it, for a fee.

Ally Met: Daemon Wine Singer.

-[X]Petition… and Prostitution, and Pettince: You wish to make your opinions known for all of Valyria to here… Let the Consul know that you… will never accept an illegal law to remove your dragon eggs. Rolled:1D100 => 86+50-70(Senate Influence)=66

The Senate was not pleased by the law presented to them…

You were even less so.

"This senate has already dealt with the supreme punishment of the Eleanor Family!" Taemon Tarreos stated to the Senate. "To ask for more brutality! More injustice at the behest of a man who has already taken so much from one! We must not allow it! For the Sake of the SEnate, we must demand that this law, be vetoed, struck down those who seek Justice served for all! Not for continued punishment, for one of our own!"

Needless to say… It did not pass.

But it was far closer than you hoped.

All the Tribunes had used their veto against each other… save one.

That one, did not let such a law pass.

Reward: You keep your dragon eggs…. Barely.

The Consul is… Rather furious at the events that had occurred.

But it seems the sympathies of the Senators have their limits. They despise you for fence sitting, failing to pick a side.

They might not be so willing to step forward in your defense over the Consuls actions.

-[X]Business Ties: Your father had a long laundry list of Businesses… You're going to get your toes wet… and you are going to make them… yours. (Write in what business you wish to take over)
--[X]Bellerophon Armory, A small but Very high quality forge in the Capital of Valaryia your father managed to acquire them in the last year or so of his reign. Known for their high quality Arms and Armor the real reason your father bought bought them up was their ability to work and forge Valaryian steel. With how rare it is for a forge master with the knowhow and skill to craft this mystical metal to take on apprentices to teach and pass on this skill it is even rarer still for those self same apprentices to strike out on their own and start up a new forge instead of taking over their masters forge when they pass. Rolled:1D100 => 26+80=106

Master Jaehaerys Bellerophon smiled. "Master Raegon… I must give my sympathies."

You took the man's hand, shaking them, allowing yourself to feel the soot covered mess that they were. "Thank you ser… but that is not why I am here. The old man's white hair was blackened by soot and ash… but otherwise, you saw him little different than one of your uncles.

"I expected that." He stated as he sat down. "Water?"

"No wine?" You asked.

"Wine dulls the mind my boy… And I'm old, if I drink more than one cup, I wouldn't be able to work for a week." He laughed. He was so grandfatherly. He was also very strong looking. A lifetime at the forge building up his arms.

You looked to the swords on his rack. "Ah… It's more business than…isn't it?"

"Yes." you replied. "I take it business is slow?"

"Very unfortunately. Most people can't afford my work, and those who can see your family name and stay as far away from it as possible." He replied. "My work grows dusty… but I'm not entirely sure if we can… well…. You know."

"Have you tried to set up a contract with the Dragon Corps in the Legion?" You asked.

The old man nodded. "No. The only reason I haven't is because half the damned masters in the city want a contract with them, and I'm too old to start a contract that large."

You Frowned. "Are you a coward? Trying to come up with excuses when I am paying you?"

The old man raised an eyebrow. "No… I want to be able to die someplace cooler than a forge… and none of my apprentices are good enough to take over fulltime without my supervision. And do not speak of fear boy! I've dealt with better men than you before you were even a thought!"

You gave a sheepish smile. "Then I respect your wisdom."

The old man took a moment to pause, then he saw what you were doing. "Ahh… Your trying to see if I still have some spirit in me… Aren't you?"

"Of course." You stated. "Can you get a shipment ready?"

"For where?" He asked.

"To the west of course… They are willing to pay a king's ransom for a few your swords." You stated.

Reward: You meet Old Master Jaehaerys Bellerophon.

He's delighted to meet you.

-[X]A Regent in Control: Your father's senate seat has a regent… a man who was appointed by the Consul to rule until you were of age… You will not allow yourself to become a puppet to the man who murdered your father. Rolled:1D100 => 32+30=62

Gaelor Daleris was unassuming. He was scarred yes… but so were you. He was scrawny, while you were more… built. He was tired…

But both of you were tired. Him from experience…

Yours from grief.

"Tell me… is there any reason why you are here? Wishing to break the law boy?" He asked.

"Don't patronize me Gaelor." You replied. "All I want to know, is if you are going to follow my wishes."

The man frowned."Are you really asking me a question of loyalty?"

"Yes." You replied.

"Than you clearly do not know the value of it. The Legion loved your father, more than any man had in over a hundred years." He stated. "Not because he was another senator… but because he was one of us. He was a good man, who led us well in the last war. He prevented us from entering slaughter after slaughter." He sighed. "He's the one who won the war… no one else ever came close."

You shook your head. "Halrderion won the war." You stated.

"Really? Is that what the senate told you… or was that because your father never wanted to tell you…" He sighed. "Men don't like talking about war. It's not glorious like the stories… it's only something we do because we have to. And he never wanted power, until they asked him to take it."

There was a tiny flutter from the wind. "The senate makes up their own history of the past, and does everything in their power to make sure their version is the only version of history." He stated. "And when someone wishes to discover the truth of it… well… you know how it ends."

You raised an eyebrow. "And that history is why my family died?"

Gaelor smiled. "Of course it is… If your father had succeeded… there would no longer be a freehold to maintain… And the Legions would finally get it's long revenge on those who betrayed us."

Reward: Gaelor will continue to fight the senate on your behalf to make you sure you remain neutral.

The Seeds of a mystery have been planted.

-[X]Dragon Eggs: You need to see the Dragon eggs… to find out if any were ready to hatch. Rolled:1D100 => 72+110=182

Rhaerya smiled as she saw the large room of dragon eggs. "I've never seen so many before." She stated as she ran across the room her eyes glittering with a joy that made you think of better times…

Far better times, when this room was filled with so many children, wishing to try and hatch their dragon eggs.

There was over a hundred eggs… all waiting…

All mourning for the loss of their bondmates.

Thanks to the new power given to you… you could hear them weep in your mind… a hundred broken souls, for a hundred lost bonds.

You had wondered why they didn't always hatch when left at the crib… it was because they did not truly know… They were small… children that did not know…

Only the smartest… the bravest… the most naive ever hatched with a babe, to bond with together. Even then… a rarity. Some would call it an impossibility… improbable.

It wasn't something you could truly understand…

But you knew dragons, and you knew your bond… and there was one that was looking for one as well.

You walked to the hall and looked at your mothers dragon egg… one she had been carrying her entire life before the end… always holding hope that it would finally hatch for her.

But now she was gone… But her egg was not.

You took the sapphire egg, that pulsated with an energy and a warmth that only an egg ready to hatch could muster, and handed it over to Rhaerya.

"Take it." You stated.

"But they're-"

"Mine… and she's chosen you." You stated.

When Rhaerya took it, she felt it crack… and a moment later, a mouth with a tiny teeth bit her.

"What the-"

You smiled. It wanted to be free of it's egg… and since your mother was not there… it bonded with your friend.

Amazing…

Reward: Rhaerya is now a Dragon Rider.

Eleria has been born.

-[X]A True Friendship: Rhaerya wishes to spend more time with you… she wants to make sure you are not… planning to hurt yourself. She wants the best from you… and for you as well. Rolled:1D100 => 100+70=170
Suicide Roll:1D100 => 17-10=7

The night came quickly… and your mania finally struck you…

You had not gained anything… not from friends, not from the dragons… not from anything.

It filled you with… a pain, a pain that you believed was impossible to heal.

Seeing people together with people they cared about… that, made you… feel worse.

As you stood near the balcony, feeling the warm air on your body, you knew that it would not be the night.

Vhaeron was watching you extra carefully tonight… the new dragon was a curiosity, but he never let his guard down with you…

He wanted you to be safe…

"Are you alright?" You turned to see Rhaerya standing before you, awake, but tired… You knew she could not get to you before you tried to throw yourself from the building… but she knew why you were out here.

"No…" You stated. "You have your gift… now I must ask you to leave Rhaerya… for both our sakes."

She did not move, but she did cross her arms, in frustration and in crossness. "Is that it then? You believe that you are better off alone?"

"I have nothing left to give… nothing at all…" You sat down. "And I can't lose you too."

Rhaerya walked forward, sitting next to you, and placing an arm around your shoulders, pulling you in close. "You'll lose me if you push me away."

"And that's better than making the world destroy everything I hold dear? At least I know you'll be alive."

"Alive, but not happy." Rhaerya gave a small nod. " I made a choice. Just as you are making a choice now to push me away."

She rested her head onto your shoulder. "I won't leave you alone… That's a promise."

You closed your eyes… and instead of the executions… the burning, the corpses… The sadness.

You saw a quiet meadow… with dragons flying… and people waiting for you.

"Promise me, Rhaerya." You begged.

"I promise." She replied.

You felt a quiver in your heart… but that was all you felt before you grasped Rhaerya.

You then felt the question in your ears, before letting go… It was a quiet thing really, even you did not expect the words to come out of her mouth as you held her.

"Marry me." She said.

Do you Accept her proposal:

[]Yes: Always… Stay with me.

[]No: I can't…

What do you do?:

You have 6 actions.

[]An Adventure: You wish to go on an adventure… MAybe it was because the world was seen as something greater… Maybe because you think there are assassins out to get you… Which given your circumstances… might be more true than you think.

[]A Dish Served: You are going to… visit the Agaelor family. And make it clear… that if you were not… well, begged for mercy by their daughter… you would kill them all. But you were not Aegon… You were better.

[]Masters and Apprentices: Rhaerya's grandmother is coming over… She's very cross that she is now living with you, instead of her.

[]A Scaly Conundrum: You have a Dragon Scale on your hand… a mark from your dragons bond with you… You need to know if it had ever happened before.

[]Swords and Sorcery: You see the new Valyrian blade… and realize something… it can be even better.

[]A Drunk Dragon: You never realized a Dragon could get drunk… Now you know… and are very disappointed.

[]THe Legion and the Senate: Why does the Legion want revenge on the Senate? And why did your father try to give it to them?

[]How to Train Your Dragon:Rhaerya needs to learn that scaly beast that is cute, is dangerous and needs to be taught with respect and discipline. Hopefully before it kills her.

[]Join the Legion: You want to leave this place. To… go somewhere else. Home is not a place you want to be right now. And a Dragon Rider in the Legion is always welcome with open arms.

[]Choose a Hobby: You wish to have a hobby, something to take the edge off of all the stress. (Write in below of what that hobby is)

[]Visiting Home: Your Home is empty… but the memories there are enough to make you… reminisce about better times.

Also, please wait 10 hours before you start voting.

[]Yes: Always… Stay with me.

Clearly, the Dice Gods want this to happen. Who are we to stand against their will?

Seriously though, two fucking Nat100's in a row on her? That Union is blessed, I say!

I'm assuming we get six actions. Shame we can no longer invent a business. The glass candle industry and that trade company would have been nice. The only things missing are looking into Dragon Bonds, joining the legion, choose a hobby, a dish served, or an adventure.

Wow, the dice really loves Rhaerya, did we lose depressed from that @Magoose, and is her dragon bond like ours or is it a regular one? Also, very good luck regarding the Senate as well, I'm glad we passed it, especially since we did so well with the eggs action, it would have been kind of a waste otherwise. I usually would not think that marrying our only real relationship would be wise, and would cause some unhealthy codependency irl, but two nat 100's? You've convinced me RNGesus, she really is the best girl. As for the actions, I'll write up a plan, I think we should pick up a hobby.

--[]This isn't the right time, I'm not ready for this... I care for you more than anything else in this wretched world, and I don't want to ruin what we already have because of a rash decision, I hope you can understand that this isn't about what you or I want, because I do love you, but about the responsibilty we have towards ourselves to do this when we are both ready and of the right mind to decide.

I think we should hold off on doing Senate related actions for a turn, since we just pissed them off. Wrestling would be a good hobby if we want to improve our personal combat and is a way to unwind and socialize, it might also be popular in the Legion, so we might meet someone who plans to join or is a part of it. I also think we should pick A Scaly Conundrum this turn, we might get an interesting result if we do it and Masters and Apprentices together, and the sooner we understand what is happening to ourselves the better.

Just remember we barely passed the roll on the eggs.
We got an 86 on the roll, so we did pretty well all things considered. We had a -70 to work against, I didn't expect much support so am happy with the result, whowever thin the margin was. We should have sided with the mercantiles, having the backing of the second largest faction would have helped us a lot, going alone was the wrong decision imo

I'd prefer if the hobby was something more academic. Like architecture, or clothing design. Play into something that works on our strength to build from. Good clothing design is a true talent, same with being able to cook and design a plant. We could even go for magic as a hobby, or take up being a valyrian steel student.

Idk, I think that we should pick something that makes us engage in social interaction since we only have 1 friend and are shy. Wrestling could also improve our personal combat skill, which is meh. If you have any academic activities that fit the bill feel free to suggest any and I'll consider putting it in my plan since the moratorium hasn't ended yet. I don't think we can pick magic as a hobby btw, we have to learn it from the grandma or explore of bond with our dragon IIRC.

...So, this seems to imply people may have been playing politics in war getting people killed, and those who done so feared they might have been exposed to those whom lost people thanks to them...

As far as actions, we should probably consider carefully, since I suspect we would be dealing with our mania while doing it, which might also mean this time we do only one action...

We can learn magic on our own. The Valaryians were known to build things with Dragon fire, or ordinary fire. Magic is common in Valaryia. There should be something to teach the PC about the architecture techniques of old Valyria, or somebody who can be paid off to teach about it.

Wrestling is not going to be the thing to improve personal combat and social skill, as we got nobody around except Rhaeyra to wrestle with.

If you really want to exploit the hobby pick for power, then you should think about taking up Valyrian Blacksmithing as a hobby. The PC has access to a Valyrian blacksmith that can make valyrian steel. You gain muscle growth, stamina, social interaction, and magic lessons from that.

I think clothing styles as a hobby, or even architecture would be better than wrestling. Study of clothing styles can allow the PC to recognize armor styles, how expensive someone is, how much a person cares about their appearance, and if valyrian clothes mean anything. Clothing design as the hobby may be the better phrase, as that way you can acquire knowledge about clothing styles, how to design your own clothes, and possibly gain some understanding of clothing in Valyria.

You not lose the depressed trait.

And she's just a regular dragon rider... so her dragon will need to grow up before it can bond to her like us.
I usually would not think that marrying our only real relationship would be wise, and would cause some unhealthy codependency irl,
I mean, it is... extremely codependent.

And really wouldn't be the best idea unless you are sure you can make it work.

It's worse... far worse.

A Quill scratched over the Parchment as the last Letters of the Signature where added. With a sigh, Daemon Targaryen put the sheet of Paper aside, finally done with Paperwork for the day.

The Patriarch of the Targaryen-Family leaned back in his Chair and looked out of the Window of his Estate to see the Moon rise high above the Freehold, bathing it's magnificent Buildings in it's silvery light. It was one of the most beautiful sights in the World...but as it was ever since the last few days, his thought quickly shifted away from it and back into Politics...and thus, obviously, to the recent upheaval.

Perhaps he should feel happy. He and his Ancestors had labored hard for many years to rise above the Rank of the weakest and least powerful of the 40 Families. And now, finally, they weren't at the Bottom of the Ladder any more.

Only...he didn't feel happy. Not in the slightest. For not only had this rising up in Rank not come through his own Work, but it had been made possible by one of the vilest Acts in Valyrian History.

Oh sure, he had been an Opponent of Senator Eleanor from the Start. He had never agreed with the Man's Views or Policies and when his grab for Power had failed, he had felt satisfaction at the thought of him getting his just Desserts and seeing his Family knocked down a peg.

Except...that satisfaction had quickly turned into Horror as he found out just how far Gaeliar and his Cronies had been willing to go.

Sure, Eleanor had to be punished...but killing the entire Family save for the young Rhaegon and then trying to ruin him even further? That had gone too far.

And yet, they apparently STILL hadn't been satisfied. Daemon scowled as he remembered the Law that Gaeliar had proposed yesterday. It had been utterly illegal even by the furthest Stretches of the Law and the Constitution.

It had sickened him. Sure, his greatest Ambition was to advance his own Family, but he was a firm believer in doing so legally. This blatant Violation of Rights had pushed him to side with Taemon Tarreos on voting against the Law. Much as he despised the hot-headed, disrespectful Populist, he had been right on that Front.

Not for the first Time, Daemon wondered if he had made the wrong decision in siding with the Glory-Faction. They were on the Rise after the Fall of the Eleanors and joining them seemed to be the safest way to advance his Family. After all, a Victory against Ghis seemed so certain, didn't it?

But when he looked at their Leaders, at Men like Gaeliar...he couldn't help but wonder if they were to preoccupied with personal Ambitions and Vendettas to properly lead in the upcoming War.

He sighed. No point in lamenting it now. He had made his bed and likely would have to lay in it. He could only hope that it would all work out...for the sake of his Family.

He shook his head as he looked at the Paperwork he had finished. The Upheaval in the Freehold had made it necessary to secure his Interests quickly, before other took the Opportunity. He had had some successes and some failures, as expected. Ironically, one of the Businesses he had set his eyes on, the Bellerophon-Armory, had been bought out by none other then Rhaegon Eleanor.

Despite that failed Venture, he held no Grudge against the boy. He actually felt a modicum of Respect that, despite the Loss of his entire Family and their Fall from Grace and Power, he seemed determined to start rebuilding immediately. Such Dedication was admirable.

It also didn't hurt that apparently the Daughter of old Aegon Aegalor had decided to run away from home and live with the Boy. He had always hated that pompous fool, so seeing him getting knocked down a peg like that by his own Child's defiance was rather satisfying.

Still, he had no Intention to see his House return to their old Place as the weakest of the 40 Families. If Rhaegon wanted to overtake them once more, he would have to work for it, because Daemon would work just as hard to keep his House advancing.

With a yawn, Daemon put the Stack of Paper aside. Today's work had tired him out. Visenya was probably already waiting in his bed, having tucked away the Children to sleep. It was time to Rest for the Lord of the second smallest of the Freeholds Dragons...
