The Smallest of Dragons, The Loudest of Roars (An ASOIAF Valyrian Adventure Quest)

[X] Plan: The last of my line

The reason I didn't put a lot into martial is because and I could be wrong, but this is the final Ghiscari war, it is not an epic conflict against our rival for supremacy of the future Dragon's Bay, but the euthanasia of a dying empire. I prioritized what I though would help us survive and thrive in the beginning of a new golden age that will probably full of plots, knives in the dark and politic.

One thing to bear in mind is that even Dying Empires can put up one helluva last stand.

Let's just say that I'm taking notes from Hanibal in crafting this little story of a dying empire.

Rather, what Hanibal would do to save it... If he were not constrained by his nation's politics, and willing to do anything to save it.

With of course... magic and Harpies involved.
@Magoose Do we know where we are starting? E.g. as a soldier, a merchant, a slave?
You ar a member of the ruling elite, one of the forty families.

You are currently on very hard times due to your... situation. However, you have a dragon... the family name, and an opportunity to gain wealth, power and influence in the new world order that is about to be formed.

Again, you are among the ruling class, not a pleb.

Problem is, that won't avail us much if we get killed by the Ghiscari before we even get to see this New Golden Age.

And we don't have to be Legendary in fighting, just skilled would be fine. Also, I just REALLY dislike the Depressed-Trait.

I like how The Last of my Line plan and my own Behind the Scenes are trying to go more towards stewardship and Diplo but I feel that you are missing a lot of bonuses you could be getting. For example while my plan doesn't take as many masterys my bonuses are on average above yours.

I like your plan but I just feel like mine does a better job of giving a better all around bonus while also making our training easier and getting rid of stress much easier. I also managed to do this without taking the Depressed trait which I feel will really hurt us. Hope this can help. @Alucard Bellsing

The depressed trait is a giant pain in the ass, I really don't want that hindering us.
There are ways to lose the Depressed trait.

It won't be affecting you all quest unless you chose to ignore actions that allow it to be removed or help remove it.

But will affect you for the interim.

@Magoose What are the stats of the depressed trait? Or has that already been stated and I missed it?
i think I will state it, it has been changed a bit for this quest:

Depressed: Life has lost it's luster, and in the end, nothing matters to you anymore. (-20 to Diplomacy and Stewardship Rolls. Every Turn, you roll to see if you contimplate suicide, or take part in an outburst of depressive mania to make yourself feel better. Stress increase Rapidly. +30 to interacting with close confidants, friends of family.)

To lose the Trait: You must find the will to live... or failing that, find someone of soemthing to live for.

Plan: The last of my line

Not a fan of the depressed trait, but this gives us dragon-hearted and Lucky and does not sacrifice diplo (we'll never get magic training without some good diplo). I'd rather start with Dragon knowledge at Legendary, but I guess that can be trained if we are Lucky

Goal: get Legendary Magic....

Removing vote. The above was my first idea. But depressed is really too bad. Now I have to think more.

None of that will matter if our Character commits Suicide after the third Turn because of the Depressed-Trait and shitty Rolls we had in that Category.

Yeah, maybe I'm pessimistic, but I don't trust the Magoose-Dice to not screw us over on that Front.

You are ignoring content by this member.
For all the downsides of depressed there is a bright side, it would be pretty interesting to see what Rhaegon gets up to in mania, still would prefer to not die or fuck up tremendously due to depressed.

Edit: do you we need good diplo for magic training?

I have made sure that, barring a nat 1... You will not attempt to commit suicide.

And even then, you have to roll to succeed at killing yourself.

Which is very hard considering you are bonded to a Dragon.

You should know my dice love Drama more then anything else.

Indeed.

in fact, there are even several plans of mine that will make things... very interesting.

In fact, the mania might even help you... in a roundabout way.

You're right. I had not seen the details when I posted (Magoose posted while I was writing). Changing my vote..

[X] Plan: The last of my line

While depression is hard...I think that going beyond it and becoming sane and happy is very much worth it.

I think the depressed trait makes sense in character for this option, since he lost his entire family and all that. It also seems to make things interesting narratively, and in the end will make our character stronger, as sooner or later we'll probably lose it and our starting traits and stats would be good. Anyway, it's far from a deal breaker imo.
