The Smallest of Dragons, The Loudest of Roars (An ASOIAF Valyrian Adventure Quest)

[X] Plan: Bonded Dragon is Awesome, but let's not get ahead of ourselves
-[X] Vhaeron
-[X]Bonded (Available because you have Dragon Hearted): Your egg was placed next to your crib when you were a babe, as is tradition when a new child is born, and there are eggs waiting to be handed out. Unlike the vast majority of Dragons… yours hatched almost immediately, and you have been bonded for life ever since. And in that bond you share… you feel something else… something you have spent a lifetime trying to figure out. (Can only Take the Small Size for your Dragon)
-[X]Small: Your Dragon is young, fast and swift, rideable by even a novice rider, but lacking the true power of the Dragon Lord needs to really make an impact… For now at least.
-[X]The Outlaw's Justice: Your Father was a man who had a lust for power, influence, and above all else… history. He wanted to be remembered as the man who brought the Freehold to Greatness! Unfortunately, his idea to bring the Freehold to Greatness was through Tyranny. He refused to step down when the Crisis was over, and the Freehold was safe… And well, like every dictator that tried to seize power from the Senate… they failed. He was eaten by the dragons, torn to pieces. But that was not far enough to sate the Senate's Wrath. Everyone died… from the noblest and honorable men of your family who had given everything for the Freehold, to the women whose only crime was standing by the men they loved… to the Children who knew nothing… and the babes who did not get a chance to live. The Dragons they once rode were captured… the eggs left to you to rebuild the families dragon riders, once you had heirs of your own. The only reason you lived… was to Watch… and to not create a power vacuum for a hundred or more great houses to try and rise to take your place in the Senate, and of the Fortey Families themselves.
-[X]None: You were far too young to hold any Senatorial Position by the Valyrian constitution. A Regent will be taking your place until you are 21, of age to enter Valyrian politics.

I think I'm gonna change my vote, just kinda wished the dragon appearance for this one didn't have four legs, but eh.
Rising up the ranks seem much more fun and challenging anyhow,

[X] Plan: Bonded Dragon is Awesome, but let's not get ahead of ourselves

Considering how that ended for our Father in that Scenario, I'm rather reluctant to even consider that...
So did Caeser, and Octavian just took the mans name and overthrew the republic.

Besides, you don't even know what dear old dad did yet to cause the entire senate to murder your family.

And it's much more... complicated then you think...

Much more complicated.

On the other Hand, Caesars Actions only got him murdered. Not his entire Family except Octavian.

Although, much like Caesar, I can believe that it was more complicated then just a naked grab for Power...

Correct. But that's just the difference between our fathers action... or rather the sevarity of his actions, and what he wanted to do.

After all, why would a powerful oligarchy wish to kill a dictator if said dictator wasn't about to do something really really good, and bad at the same time?

And you will find out about that situataion, later, in the updates to come.

Though I shall say that you might even agree with dear old dad...

Probably. Really it depends on how cynical you are regarding the Freehold and the Concept of the Roman Republic itself being used by incestuous, dragon-riding people, who are prone to bouts of violence and enjoy conquering people because they believe they are the best in the world and all others are beneath them.

Kinda like Rome in that sense.

In other words, good for everyone except those that 'actually matter'?
There are enough dragon riders in Valyria for enough people outside the 40 families to actually matter.

But yes. You are correct.

Problem is: They are little crazy, and a mans good ideas don't really help when people are crazy.

I liked the original iterationg more, but good enough.

This is an interesting amount of power. We have no internal politics, because its just us. We have no allies that we don't make ourselves, in the quest itself. We also have a regent to contest with.

Its weird to see a Ceaser reference and a Punic war reference as contemporaries. It was only a 100 years, but my brain insists they took place further apart.

Playing armchair sociologist and historian, this implies interesting things. Roman strife became internal in large part because they had no external foe. Cincinnatus and Fabius retired; Sulla*, Ceaser, and Octavian did not.

Which might mean that the Freehold does not take the Empire of Ghis seriously. This is dangerous.

*EDIT: Sulla did retire, but only after killing a bunch of political opponents.

More like Valyria is very overconfident in their victory.

TBF: They've won five wars against them already and are extremely wealthy because of said wars... and the Ghiscari are in desprate need of a victory to keep the cities from splitting off. In fact, they need a miracle.

Problem for us... They have a miricle as a general... and he's really really mad at Valyria, and wishes to destroy it.

But he lacks dragons... however, he has Harpies... which are just as dangerous.

Now you see where Dad may have bit off more then he can chew, andearned the ire of his senatorial enemies... and got his family killed.

I guess then that he wanted to prepare, but the powers behind the throne disagreed because CLEARLY they are no threat, and doing so would negatively impact the big families...

Roman RepublicValyrian Freehold Politics! Where the reasonable People are tossed aside and the Morons hailed as Geniuses until it's almost too late!

By the Fourteen Flames, I just hope there won't be a Varro showing up to pull a Cannae...

Yeah...well life is like that, and its far too often...that people forget that fact...its a trope as old as time.
By the Fourteen Flames, I just hope there won't be a Varro showing up to pull a Cannae...
Knowing our luck...its going to happen and we are going to have to clean it up.

A serious problem that we might have is that Fabian tactics are going to be very, very difficult. Ghiscannibal has harpies. They can fly. Starving him of resources and reinforcements will be tricky.

We might have to go general winter on him. Burn literally everything anywhere remotely near him and hope he starves to death.

How well do Harpies fare when compared to Dragons anyways?
