Would Ophelia +30 to psychic rolls apply to ward vault? If so we may want to put her on that, combined with the learning and control increase she got.

*look everywhere suspiciously* are we sure we aren't an Alpha Legion plot?
Good news is, this mess might be a way for Rotbart to reach Transcendent Martial at once, if he can somehow pull off an amazing victory and beat the crap out of everyone.

Currently Nilfheim's scout fleet is keeping a close eye on all naval movements in the region as well as attempting to locate the Hive Fleet Grábakr.
Given the distance involved those scouts must take years just to reach the area they intend to search.

Thunder Warriors: Laying the Path
There is a perverse irony in the fact that the 'instant' super soldiers take two decades to produce. Pretty sure Space Marines are actually faster to get from selection to combat ready.

Knight Hive (Location)
Knight Landhold
I'm for the Landhold option. The hive note the potential of friction between knights and non-knights while Landhold doesn't. Plus I would sooner have quality and leave quantity to Asgard.

On another note Inquisitor Klovis-Ultan suggests that you contact Vanaheim so that work can begin on creating the first Black Ships as soon as the design is finished next year.
Oh yes, the final annoyance of choosing battleships over Grand Cruisers.

Expand Psyker Hunters
Excellent. Expensive, but excellent.

Fixing the The Flaws of Thunder: Part One
Time: 22 years
Reward: Detailed information about flaws that Thunder Warriors can develop, determine which if any can be fixed
Yeah… nope.

Well worth doing.

Expand Witch Hunters
On the one hand we need this done. On the other… Lin arguably has other tasks we need done more.

… the High Council might complain, but I suspect the 'near panic' reactions means if we present this as a fait accompli no one will care much.

We need this done before Lin dies.

You have recently received news that your daughter Syr is pregnant with your first grandson.
Yay.

The action is primarily figuring out training for them producing them as we already know doesn't take long, took Maximal about 5 years to make a dozen of them while not understanding the process.

Ok, there are a bunch of things I really think we should do this turn, in no particular order.

1. Psychic Cannon. The Psychic Cannon disrupts the tyranids' hive mind, which makes it an immensely important weapon.
2. Ordinatus. Ordinatus was one of the techs we got at the Grand Conclave, and would give us a fuckload of groundside firepower.
3. Invisible Dragons. In terms of killing/near killing heroes, only psyrodactyls have come close.
4. Tyranid samples from the eldar, so that we can do Biologis on it and get intel.
5. 1 year Research action on shrine fairies. Their rituals would greatly increase our psyker's power on a macro scale, so we should get started on developing a way to communicate with them.
6. Point defence ship. A ship loaded up on point defence, to protect itself and larger ships from strike craft, torpedoes, etc. Orks and tyranids use strike craft a lot, so it'll be quite valuable.
7. Special Issue Impalers+Fundamentals (Melta). Durin said Melta is a Basic technology, so it'll take 7 years total. Getting melta shells would be very damn good at improving our anti-elite capability. While the tyranids are big on hordes, they also have elites, which need to be taken down.

In the current game system you're mostly better off just taking a ton of escort cruiser-carriers for AA.

I was really disappointed we didn't get any improvements to AA from the conclave. I had hoped to get the laser point defense system that's xenotech in the rogue trader game system.

...Laser PD? That seems like a pretty basic thing the Imperium would've had. Just assume we already have it and that it's just a normal kind of PD.

Sounds like something we could do with Las fundamentals, tbh
Micro Laser Defence Grid A vastly larger version of the digital energy weapons used by nobles and worthies of the Imperium, the grid is an interlinked network of hundreds of miniature laser turrets scattered across a vessel's hull. The lasers, while not powerful individually, act in concert to shoot down incoming ordinance and small craft. Wall of Light: Increase the ship's turret rating by 2. External: This Component does not require hull space. Although it is external, it can only be destroyed or damaged by a Critical Hit.
He speaks of this.

Standard imperial defense turrets are projectile weapons. The basic upgrade is flak turrets which increase turret rating by 1 but reduce sensors. The Xenotech laser grid is +2 turret rating with no penalty.
Yeah, no way they would've had the schematics for digi weapons.
I'm actually pretty dubious it's actually meant to be a bunch of digi lasers. Basic ones don't have nearly the range needed and are already pricey, to get some sort of suped up larger version by the hundred would be a bit much for even a rogue trader.

Really though the lasers aren't important. We can already build lasers on the scale of starship turrets with no problem. The targeting system which coordinates hundreds of turrets is what's important.

@Durin, with the coming of the tyranids, are we allowed to write in an option to switch to Mostly Volkite or are we locked in to our choice?

Hmm, those are some nice trait gains.

General Commentary:

Investigate Battle Automata- One of the designs provided by Callamus was for a series of Battle Automata, which can be used to provide a powerful, fearless military force. It will take a few years of work for Fabricator-General Scott and Archmagos Prime Sahr to determine how to best make use of them though.

Time: 4 years

Cost: 390,000,000 Thrones, 78,000,000 Material, 7,900,000 Promethium, 850,000 Advanced Material, 950 Exotic Material.
Reward: Plan on how to implement Battle Automata

We are about to face an enemy with unending swarms of ground troops. Having our own swarm of non-edible troops to stand in their way and be meat-shields for our more valuable forces seems like something to invest in.

2) Ophelia got a decent boost to her skill and combat power. Tyranids dampen pysker abilities, but even they can't snuff the power of an Alpha to the point she is useless. Ophelia is going to be a star in this fight.

3) Apparently standing up 10,000 Thunder Warriors is cheaper than I thought. And while they are "temporary", this formation will still last 200 years (or 40 turns). They will be the test-bed for future, better prepared Warriors.
The survivors are very likely to be the trainers and leaders for the next generation, whenever that will be. Not a bad deal considering how dangerous these guys get as they age.
They may actually have a decent chance of producing hero units given their narrative. Probably not as likely as Space Marines, but better than most of our other forces at least.

4) Grandkid on the way. Either Syr got past feeling that Sigmund was just a friend or her vows and libido conspired to do what her heart has not yet committed to. As I once heard someone joke about, all natural pregnancies are unplanned.

5) Large Waagh building. Eh, frying pan --> Fire and all that jazz. Its not enough to make me panic. If they don't fight the Hive Fleet, then they are likely going to demolish another one of the chaos polities that the Devourer doesn't hit.

I'd also be cautious about assuming these tyranids will be mostly lightly armored. They're going to be completely different after adapting for centuries fighting necrons.

Edit: ninja'd

Robots would probably be the worst thing to send at the tyranids. They are very highly specialised at killing them.

I think we may have to use that favour after all...
We should try fighting ourselves first. Nids have slow FTL and generally just go from one system to the next. We can afford to fight them on a colony or two before deciding if we need to use a favour.

Ok, priorities for divining this turn are Alpha Legion, Grabakr, Waaagh Bloodbusta and potential abomination crusades. Secondaries are probably plans and troop movement for the other regional polities and since it's the only real thing that can go wrong right now, potential nurglite crusades.
The Alpha gits can wait. They are a long term problem and we have too many short term problems to care about them. Abomination crusade was a joke.

2 We aren't short of ground firepower and Ordinatus are likely to be a 'take an action to build one' type unit, at least at first. It would be nice to get but we have other priorities.
7 Except we just took away Impalers from our non-chaff forces. Anything fighting elites should already have better.

@Durin
1 What are our proposed Thunder Warriors armed/armoured with?
