@Durin cause I keep forgetting.
1. IIRC I asked that when we did a research action (psykers) on animals we'd automatically see if ewe could use it for parts. Is this the case and the sun beetles are too dangerous for us to do that?
1. in the case of Sun Beetles it is impossible to have parts, they dont shed anything when alive and release a nuke on death

Too expensive troops = we loose. Let's keep it sane.
There are about 200-300 power regiments with ultra high skills that could benefit from it for relatively small price. Fire Giants, Jotuns in power armor, Varangian chapter serfs (check out their skill bonus BTW), IT guard power drop troopers.
Also, stealth knights maybe?

Fabricator-General Scott has recently had a near death experience at the hands of a Gnaw Worm

Losing Scott so close to her growing out of the Young trait would have had me screaming and tearing my hair out.
Imagine what we could have accomplished if we hadn't lost Briton.

Inb4 Jane turns out to be a complete marshmallow of a mom.

EDIT: What should our greater divination target be?
I'm partial to Eldar.

I'm also partial to using a QM choice Getting to Know Avernus action.

We shluld scry the the Eldar, and the dark eldar twice over just to be sure; even if they aren't the galaxy ending threat you can't let those chucklefucks out of your sight.

@Durin
1. Is our list of Imperial Era warships in the mechanus datasheet exhaustive, or has the College reverse engineered some from our various in service warships and/or acquired some from Vanahiem?
2. Are the Valinor Hulks irreparably tainted or can we repair and sell them to humans for humorous irony?

We already have all the designs for imperial void ships. All ones that were in service have been retired though we could sell em.

They were made by a chaos imperium imma say tainted.

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if we tried 'Greater Scrying' on avernus? Kind of suicidal if we find out something Avernus does not actually want us to know, of course, otherwise I would have been all for it.

However, don't we already know the Nids are going all out against the Devourer outside of the galactic disc?

High Grandmaster Ridcully spent a year attempting to divine what he could of the Necrons, in particular whether they posed any threats to your area. He found that the Atum Dynasty is a potential threat but only if forced to be due to the fact that the vast majority of their forces are elsewhere. In fact most of the Necrons in the galaxy left seven hundred years ago under the command of the Silent King. Now they are fighting war on a level not seen since the darkest days of the War in Heaven, using weapons they dare not use within the galaxy to drive back the Great Devourer.

"Most of the Necrons in the galaxy", "still fighting something they started massing for at least 700 years ago", "Now they are fighting war on a level not seen since the darkest days of the War in Heaven".

Seriously? Do we need anything more over the top than that?

A greater risk is if there is something local that extra-galactic threat actually wants. So. Why not scry the planet we're on?

I guess this is part of why I want to scry the warp portals. It's local, it can be part of something big, and it's at least something already active, so we don't accidentally wake Cthulhu. Cthulhu is grumpy.

Would it be Sound Out or Trade Talks to get the Super-Exitus rifles for our Super-Elites?
Trade talks

1. You have all designs in major use by 40k bar battleships
2. They are to much effort to cleanse, it would be easier to make a new ship

Okay, something made me go back and check my Canon Archeotech Testudo Class Guardian Tank Omake... and I noticed something that I hadn't defined then, or since.

The reason given for the fact that no examples were discovered is that they had only just been approved for widespread production and testing at the time of the Rebellion, and the only factory and existing examples where destroyed in the Men of Iron's first strike by 5 'Mjolnir' and 2 'Helios' Bombardment Platforms.

Now, I'm not expecting anything to come of this but I just thought I'd throw out my ideas of what the 'Mjolnir' and 'Helios' Bombardment Platforms really were. It's up to @Durin to determine if they can find a use for these ideas or whatever. As for why we haven't heard of them before now if they do decide to incorporate them in some fashion... It might be that only fragments of the STCs were on the data core and not enough to repair, but as we're starting to talk about defence Ramilles variants and such, the fragments have found a use. And if they aren't used in any fashion? Well, obviously the data core didn't have the designs on it for whatever reason, or they were in a section that was erased.

The Helios and Mjolnir Bombardment Platforms are misleadingly named, as they are not actually space platforms or space stations, but rather among the slowest possible Warp-Capable Starship designs the Ancients came up with and if they had to go anywhere fast, a warp-capable tug, a pair of battleship-class starships, or single larger starships were able to be hooked up to tow them along. But that was all they needed to be. As their full name was 'Helios/Mjolnir Class Offensive Orbital Suppression and Planetary Bombardment Platforms' and they fulfilled that role perfectly.

The two classes were very similar in design in everything but their armament, which was opposed. The 'Helios' class was built around a spinal 'Continuous Plasma Lance' which is similar in principle to normal lance weaponry, except it was significantly larger and instead of being a beam of coherent light, it was a beam of plasma tapped from the Helios' main reactors. The effects of the weapon are again similar to that of a comparable Lance weapon, but instead of just cutting through the target, and the shockwave generated by the superheated atmosphere if used against a target on a planet, anything that stopped the beam, however momentarily, was also hit by a plasma blast caused by the plasma beam's containment failing at the very tip, at least until the plasma beam punched through the target and continued onwards.

The 'Mjolnir' class was instead built around a pair of spinal magnetic accelerator cannons. Extremely large ones that accelerated their multi-ton projectiles to extreme speeds. Said projectiles came in two basic types. 'Dumb' which were just comprised of a multi-ton shaped chunk of magnetic metal, and 'Guided' which were very similar to their 'Dumb' counterpart, except for the inclusion of sensor, targeting, navigation and limited propulsion systems. Not enough to accelerate the projectile to any significant speed, but once accelerated by the cannon, sufficient to course correct to it's target at up to multiple AU* form the target.

The secondary weapons of both platforms comprised of multiple lance arrays for the Helios and multiple projectile cannon arrays that are similar, if much more advanced, to the bombardment cannons on Adeptus Astartes warships for the Mjolnir. Tertiary weapons were comprised of multiple hangars for strikecraft on the Helios and Kinetic Rod Silos, Missile Silos and Torpedo Silos on the Mjolnir. Each platform also had abundant point defence systems and very heavy armour and void shielding.

The role these platforms carried out was to be transported to a hostile system containing system, orbital and/or anti-orbital ground defences, aimed and accelerated at the target defences by the towing starships before the towing starships release the platforms. If a hostile fleet was in the system, the friendly fleet then carried out offensive operations against the hostile fleet whilst the platforms gradually decelerated as they approached the target defences. Once within range of the target defences, they would then begin 'suppressing' (aka, destroying or otherwise disabling them) any orbital defences and bombarding any planet-bound ones. Further bombardment of the planet would then be carried out as ordered, up to and including (if provided with sufficient resupply of 'Dumb' ammunition for the Mjolnir and reactor fuel for both) the 'Omega Protocol'. Careful reading of documentation has lead to the belief that the 'Omega Protocol' was the continuous bombardment of the planet surface by primary and secondary weapons until it is no longer habitable. Or in other terms, the platforms, in sufficient numbers or resupplies, are capable of punching through hostile defences and carrying out an Exterminatus on any planet.

Common doctrine called for the deployment of the platforms in 'Stars' and 'Constellations'. A 'Star' being a formation of 2 Helios class platforms and 4 Mjolnir class platforms, with a 'Constellation' being comprised of at least 6 'Stars'. This would allow the optimum use of the devastating power of the 'Helios' platforms against targets which had their shielding dropped by the accompanying 'Mjolnirs'.
*AU appears to be a reference to the measurement of the distance between Sol and Terra, corresponding to approximately 8 light-minutes.

5: Chain of Command + Spend Time With x4 (Some combination of: Syr, Ridcully, Klovis, Jane, Sarnow, Surt, Richards)
2: Knowing Avernus x2 (QM's Choice)

I kinda want us to take the Spend Time With action more often. Get into characterizing our advisors as characters more. :|

Some good options.

On the one hand I like the idea of diversifying our fleet a bit, now that the Marines are here. On the other I dislike the concept of building a fleet of stealth focused ships.
Ships that are stealthy are excellent. Ships that rely on stealth at the expense of basic capabilities are too specialised for most roles.

Probably best if we focus Ridcully on research for the next decade, get some of the major projects out of the way, then scry the galaxy threat when the is less fog of time in the way.

Still want the Goliath, especially if we are branching the fleet out with raiding section.

Guess I will this another try:
Diplomacy
Sirens Trade (Avernus animals)
Note:
Reward: Determine whether write in is valuable enough to the Sirens to conduct trade negotiations

Request Information (Sirens, Sphinxes – information on Warp Rifts that chaos psykers are being dragged into)

@Durin now the first batch of elite operatives are almost done after we've done the lessons learned will we get the option to do more elite operatives: aid actions?

Research: Black Crystal Items (Item)- Last year Headmaster Ridcully determined that each of the items of Black Crystal has its own unique property, though he was not able to determine what they are. He tells you it would most likely take a couple of years of study to determine exactly what the unique properties are but it would most likely be worth the time expended.

Time: 2 year
Chance of Success: Unknown (uses learning)

Cost: 355,000 thrones, 17,750 Material, 43 Advanced Material.
Reward: More information on Black Crystal Item selected

can we do this on our breastplate now?

@Durin

You have two Power Infantry: Heavy Infantry options. Is one of these supposed to be Light Infantry?

Helltrooper Power Infantry: Heavy Infantry- General Richards has put forward a plan to equip your Helltrooper Heavy Infantry with power armour. This will greatly increase their combat power and life expectancy at a surprisingly affordable price. You are advised to begin this project immediately, and told that General Richards is working on plans to begin similar upgrades for the rest of your Helltrooper Regiments.

Time: 6 years

Cost: 158,000,000 Thrones, 12,300,000 Material, 436,000 Promethium, 3,780,000 Advanced Material, 2,430 Exotic Material.
Upkeep per year: 8,860,000 Thrones, 412,000 Material, 199,000 Promethium, 114,000 Advanced Material, 18 Exotic Material.
Reward: upgrade 240 Helltrooper Heavy Infantry Regiments to Helltrooper Power Infantry Regiments.

And this option was done and so can be deleted:

Jetbikes: Planning- One of the new technologies found by Archmagos Tranth is designs for a set of advanced jetbikes with many similarities to the Eldar designs. General Schwarz would like to mount his Helguard Rough Riders on these Jetbikes and will need to spend a few years detemining how to do this.

Time: 3 years

Cost: 44,000,000 Thrones, 8,800,000 Material, 880,000 Promethium, 85,000 Advanced Material.
Reward: Force Composition for Jetbike Regiments
