It had been stated that we will not be able to research any eldar or dark eldar technlogy because it is far to far removed from what our techtree is like.

you have not found any examples of Dark Eldar aircraft yet, there is a chance you will if you search the keep however

Top plan has a majority.

[X] Attempt to have the Tech-Priests keep the reactor from melting down but leave at dawn if no progress is made.
[X] leave a medium group to investigate the keep (50 regiments). -Default
[X] Have the air force begin search patterns around the city to locate the Dark Eldar elites that are fleeing.

[X] Attempt to have the Tech-Priests keep the reactor from melting down – Gives you an unknown amount of extra time and a chance of having more warning before the meltdown. - Greater risk but larger reward.
[X] leave a large group to investigate the keep (250 regiments). - Higher chance of finding things but a larger number of people will die if something goes wrong.

From the Diaries of Captain Jerimiah Le'Rose

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've served almost my entire life in the military. My valor and courage under fire time and time again from everything and more the galaxy could throw at me and my comrades. I waded through the toxic and beastly floura and ecosystem of my home world, defended a hive world from a chaos warband, helped defend my Governors life against a Necron attempt on his life (Probably the real reason I climbed now that I think about it), got into a slugging match with an Orc Nob, and now this.

I'm glazing over things sure but in this line of work noting your entire resume can get tiresome for the soul. I really do wonder how much more it can hold up now that I'm essentially almost always due for regeneration. But if I were to be asked 'What in the Emperor was the worst job I've had to do thus far?' it would have to be looting these knife ears. I overheard the men from the company over laughing at how a tech priest couldn't solve how to work a damn thing or know what does what around here. An ya know what I can't blame the poor sod.

Remember that thing I said that really sucked? It was looting this fething city! HQ has for whatever reason ordered us to take everything we can find and put inside our vehicles for shipping. They're specifically asking for 'Enemy whereabouts and other pieces of intelligence'. Easy if it weren't that everything I touch blisters me in seconds and is usually followed by the urge to get whipped while being gagged. I'm not making this up either, on this I swear my soul. One way or another these things are a damnable curse and the only thing worse than the items were the carriers.

Still that's not the worst of it. I was overseeing an excavation inside the Keep in what we believe was the command room (This is an estimate because no one knows what ANYTHING is suppose to be) and we find some dead Eldar corpses. Jee I wonder how they ended up it's almost like they were missed by the Drop troopers who said they had moved everything. Just to be sure I told my boys to stand back as I fired shoots into the bodies and they made no scream or laugh (I don't know why but they LIKE to be shot at). Nothing though. I give the order to throw the bodies outside and to look into stuff we can rip out and dump on the logistics crew but then an Eldar jumps up with a Knife and runs at Private Botan and had it not been for his quick draw he would have been wasted. We took no chances after that all bodies were burned on my orders and extra caution although I've been told this a 'One time issue'.

As for what we've found...Black Crystals, Daggers, Flags, weird wires, and what looks like to be a dagger but made of some flesh material. My men had made a hunch as to where it came from but I prefer not to write that here for fear that they were correct. Suffice to say that everyone is working hard and washing their hands as hard as possible to get any weird stuff off. Emperor protect us from these monsters.

It's been mentioned before, but it's not going to be happening any time in the next few years. You don't pick an animal for this kind of thing, you design something. It will likely take a good deal of engineering and innovation for the AdMech to make such a thing. Most likely it will be in the form of a giant tank, like a Leviathan or a Capitol Imperialis. Alternatively it could be a number of smaller void shield projecting vehicles working in tandem to create sufficient cover.
What we need is some Russian enginseers.

"Is no problem, just scoop out all the troop and command stuff and put in void shield generators!"

Actually, yeah, if you could get void shields on a deathstrike and mix them in with normal ones, that could be really good.
Presuming that it's economical of course.

Let's see, a Void-Shield missile would ideally be cheaper than the number of missiles that would otherwise be shot down. If not, it would be preferable to just build more missiles. But wait! There is an exception for this logic, in that if they reduce the number of missiles lost to PD per salvo, they decrease the number of salvo's required to achieve a certain threshold of damage (tldr; it amps up the dps).

You decided to have a medium sized group search the keep for useful intelligence or technology while Tech-Priests attempted to prevent the reactor from overloading. You gave your men until dawn to search the keep after which you will pull them out unless the Tech-Priests are confident that they will be able to prevent the reactor from overloading, or at least giving enough warning to evacuate. As the search begins you pulled the rest of your men well out of the city so that you can be certain that they will be safe in case of an overload and requested that the airforce begin to run search patterns in the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the escaped Dark Eldar elites.

The initial attempts by the Tech-Priests to prevent the reactor from overloading were not very successful as even with the aid of translators they triggered several fail-safes cutting off control over vital subsystems. The searchers failed to find any useful technological items but did manage to find and copy several documents on the cities defences, which will hopefully allow you to estimate what forces escaped the city.
T=39:02:00-39:06:00
Tech-Priests Roll d100=9: No success, increase difficulty of future rolls

Search for info roll d100=28+40(translators)=68: Some success
Search for tech roll d100=15+10(enginseers)=25: Fail

The Tech-Priests continued to fail in their attempts to gain even the most basic understanding of the main reactor but have managed to void causing any more problems. The search for information continues to go well with a infantry squad locating a mostly intact secondary command centre that was partially collapsed by artillery fire preventing the Dark Eldar from having an opportunity to wipe its data. This find includes more detail about the forces that escaped as well as a lot of general information on the Dark Eldar presence in the system which may prove to be useful, or at least interesting. Unfortunate the search for useful technology has continued to be a failure.
T=39:06:00-39:09:00
Tech-Priests Roll d100=28-10=18: No success

Search for info roll d100=46+40(translators)=86: Major Success
Search for tech roll d100=17+10(enginseers)=27: Fail

Further examination of the secondary command centre found a hidden cache of data that included highly detailed maps of the planets, with several hidden facilities marked and an analysis of the sector for threats that is your first information on the rest of the sector since the Emperor's death. Unfortunately the team of Tech-Priests accidentally triggered a reactor overload a bit over twenty minutes before dawn leading to a massive explosion that wiped objective Alpha-Two from the map. You lost half a million men to the explosion, half Avernite and half Midgardian but if the data you discovered is accurate it is worth the price.
T=39:09:00-39:11:38
Tech-Priests Roll d100=2-10=-8: Trigger reactor at 11:38

Search for info roll d100=80+40(translators)-10(reactor)=130: Critical Success
Search for tech roll d100=39+10(enginseers)-10(reactor)=37: Fail

As you watch the massive dark explosion destroy Objective Alpha-Two you ponder how the battle is going on the other fronts and whether your aid will be needed. The casualties that you have suffered while steep are not enough to render your army combat ineffective and your surviving forces would represent a major boost to either of the other battle fronts. While you are considering this sisters from the Order Dialogis begin working with your senior Tech-Priests to decipher the infomation found in the keep.

Man, no matter how much training those tech-priests could've had those rolls were just fucking garbage to the point of making any positive modifiers useless.
