Omake: A Cadians Veiw of Fjol IV
Omake: A Cadians Veiw of Fjol IV

Sadness. Sadness existed in the heart of a man who's heart was made of Granite.

Rain was falling upon Fjol IV and it helped rinse away the light grimes on the battlefields of the hellish planet. General Drago had finished his meeting today with his staff as well as escorting Governor Rotbar to the Trust HQ. Normally the General would be at his camp preparing for evacuation but today he left that to his assistants and adjutants. Today the General was going to visit his fellow Cadian General Dero Vosk of the Avernite Helltroopers who had fallen in this Emperor-Forsaken world fighting the foul and cowardly Xenos.

Kenneth personally never liked Vosk personally as they had both come from different sections of Cadian society, Drago from the poor rank and file linesmen while Vosk came from the noble Vosk familly who excelled in military matters. Dero Vosk, Drago knew, was a General worthy of his rank for no matter how arrogant and proud he was in his station, he had always brought results and victory. Even now Drago knew that when times game hard the Helltroopers had gone through times of doubt that were only blown away because of Vosk's reputation as well as his gravitas. The Loss of General Vosk was a blow to Averness for she lost a brilliant general but a mighty blow to General Drago who deep down felt less comforted. Ever since the Astronamican went dark Drago found comfort in his work for the imperium but also in his Cadian comrades who he had noticed were shrinking.

Times like this made Drago feel a bit more lonely in this terrible dark world he lived in. Today he would see yet another of his old comrades waste away to deaths foul grip. He braced himself though, not because his men were around but because he felt it a point of pride among his people that he do so. While in the end Drago would find comfort in his own regiment as well as in Avernus, he would nevertheless mourn the passing of Dero Vosk, Jaren Pask, and all of the song and daughters of Cadia.

The General old and tired of the days labors and grief walked into the mortuary ever filled with what might an almost catacomb of soldiers from every world. He felt somewhat selfish for he came for only one man. An that one man was their about to be shipped back home for cremation, ceremony, and then finally burial with battle honors. The General walked up to the body and examined it's deep cuts that ran through his belly and sides.

In Old Cadian the General spoke solemnly "Go forth comrade. My apologies I cannot follow you but rest assured I will one day come to see you and everyone else.

Rest assured in that your assailants are dead. Their homes are no more comrade an for as long as the Emperor wills it I shall make it so they never find a home!". A tear ran down the Generals face followed by him hastily wiping it away and loudly swearing in Cadian for revenge on the Xenos known as Eldar. Even now he had plans to better even the odds for the next battle against these dark beings but it would have to wait because for now..the only thing that mattered were the memories of the lost and the bottle in the Generals pocket. He toasted to his old friend that day before leaving, an prepared for the following days of warp travel and then hopefully back to Avernus.

General Kenneth Drago of Cadia still a living breathing man with a strong hand in Avernus and the Trust of his friend Governor Rotbart who he knew will want revenge on the aliens for this massacre. Almost 280 million will not return home and 280 million families will cry when the parades at home begin again. As the General walked outside he was escorted by his two bodyguards Veterans sergeant Pkov and Tarol who in coincidence were at one point serving under General Posk and General Vosk respectively. If it was anything these unrelated men shared though it was three things: A hate for Eldar, Cadian comradity, and the eyes of men with vendettas to etch out against their foes. 'Who knows' General Drago thought 'perhaps these two will replace my dying generation' but then he thought 'but then who will replace theirs?'.

Vengeance will belong to General Drago and the Cadians that still strive to fight.

The End had come..for now...

EDIT: If someone can PM or comment what they think then that'd be great. =]

OOOO YEAH, cheating FTW, seriously if we can probably reverse engineer those lazor batteries, macro cannons and the Nova Cannon,s I will be very pleased :)
They're options already. Some are only possably because of bonuses and Ridcully's aid to get them above zero
Examine: Super Lances- The Well of Urd is armed with a broadside of massive super ances. This is a type of weapon unknown to the Imperium and Archmagos Tranth believes that he could learn much from studying it.

Chance of Success: -60% (30% after bonuses)
Reward: Can repair Super Lances, gain information about Super Lances, first step on the path to creating your own Super Lances.

Examine: Macrocannons- The Macrocannons of The Well of Urd are significantly better then any currently in production in the Imperial Trust. Archmagos Tranth would like to spend a few years examining them in an effort to further his understanding allowing him to repair the damaged batteries and hopefully figure out how to improve your current Macrocannons.

Chance of Success: -40% (50% after bonuses)
Reward: Can repair Macrocannon Batteries, gain information about Macrocannon Batteries, first step on the path to improving your current Macrocannon Batteries.

Examine: Laser Batteries- The Laser Batteries on The Well of Urd are one of the simplest of the weapons designs and will be applicable to the largest amount of military forces. This is due in large part to the fact that they provide the smallest advantage over current tech of any of The Well of Urd's systems.

Chance of Success: 10% (99% after bonuses)
Reward: Can repair Laser Batteries, gain information about Laser Batteries, first step on the path to improving your current Macrocannon Laser.

Examine: Kinetic Weapons- The Kinetic Weapons are some of The Well of Urd's most deadly weapons. While Archmagos Tranth does not think that he will be able to copy them he hopes to learn from them. He also believes that several of the Kinetic Weapons are damaged in ways that he can fix.

Chance of Success: -90% (0% after bonuses)
Reward: Can repair Kinetic Weapons, gain information about Kinetic Weapons, first step on the path to creating your own version of Kinetic Weapons.

Examine: Graviton Weapons- The Graviton Weapons of The Well of Urd are its most complex, and possibly its most powerful weapons. While Archmagos Tranth has no chance of discovering anything about them by himself he hope that with Headmaster Ridcully's aid he will be able to lern something.

Chance of Success: -130% (-40% after bonuses)
Reward: Can repair Graviton Weapons, gain information about Graviton Weapons, first step on the path to creating your own version of Graviton Weapons.

Examine: Torpedo Launchers – The torpedo launchers of The Well of Urd are far better then any other version that Archmagos Tranth is familiar with. Unfortunately they are very complex but Archmagos Tranth hopes that he will at least be able to repair the damaged launchers.

Chance of Success: -80% (10% after bonuses)
Reward: Can repair Torpedo Launchers, gain information about Torpedo Launchers, first step on the path to improving your current Torpedo Launchers.

Examine: Secondary Engines- The secondary engines are one of the most complex devices on The Well of Urd and if they were not labelled Archmagos Tranth would not even be able to determine their purpose. He hopes that with the aid of Headmaster Ridcully he can learn more about them.

Chance of Success: -120% (-30% after bonuses)
Reward: Gain information about Secondary Engines, first step on the path to creating your own version of Secondary Engines.

Examine: Reactors – The reactors of The Well of Urd are at least three times as good as an Imperial Reactor of the same size. Archmagos Tranth would like to study them in the hope that he can learn and improve the current Imperial Reactors.

Chance of Success: -70% (20% after bonuses)
Reward: Gain information about Reactors, first step on the path to improving your current Reactors.

Examine: Internal Data Network- The Internal Data Network of The Well of Urd is the most advanced that Archmagos Tranth has ever heard of. He would like to spend a few years examining it to see what it contains.

Chance of Success: -15% (95% after bonuses)
Reward: Gain information about Internal Data Network.

So first lets go for the DATA network we need more info on what is in it, maybe well find info on the other systems. :)

So I finally had the idea to look up if it was ever an option because it never came up in the results and durin did say it would be an option. As it turns out, it was, but I can see why the players decided against it for so many turns. It needs a 70 to succeed and it only improves the success chance of learning about a system by a single percent for every three percent we succeed by. That is to say, if we rolled a 73 on that action, it would reduce the difficulty by only 1%. The effort-economy on an action like that is pretty crap.

I'm not sure that's a correct proportion, but I see your point, that is why we need to go for the internal net, who knows what is in there, maybe hints and schematics for bits and peices of it.
Also @durin when can we attempt to reverse engineer the Landraiders and other stuff we got like the anti grav bikes?

it is already an option under Examine: Any
