Seeing as the inner city defenses are all but rubble and the elder are withdrawing from them, we'll only be facing slave-soldiers without fortification bonuses that we should be able go through quickly. so we don't really need to bomb the inner city to proceed quickly. On the other hand, the keep explicitly requires time or concentrated fire to bring down, and if you think we're on a time limit then we need to get started on that as quickly as possible.

[X] Concentrate fire on one target.- This will allow your artillery to have a major impact on the selected target at the expense of have no effect on the other targets.
[X] Target the keep.- This will make the keep easier to take when the time comes but will not have any effect on the current fight and will take time or concentration of fire to cause major damage. This option would be best if you are planning to quickly push though the city and attack the keep.

With the DE having given up on harassment, the defense bonus from forting up won't be useful to us. There's no point in moving cautously over ground that's been bombed to rubble and evacuated by the enemy.

[X] Attack aggressively- You could order your forces to be aggressive and focus on taking ground quickly. This will allow you to kill more foes and seize more ground but at the cost of significantly higher casualties and a worse kill to loss ratio. - At this speed your would be able to take the inner city in around ten hours.
[X] Continue to attack until dark- This is the most aggressive option and will allow you to secure a large amount of territory but you will have trouble securing it.

[X] Launch both batteries of deathstrikes at the keep.

What do people think about dragon's modifications?

Should we launch both Deathstrike batteries against the keep?

Should we target the Keep only with the artillery instead of the inner city fortifications?

[X] Launch one full battery of deathstrikes at the keep before the attack.
[X] Black Irons are assigned to lead an attack on the keep as soon as a breach in the keep defenses occur and a path to those breaches are open.

If we're going full on assault, maybe we should throw all our Deathstrikes at their HQ to try and paralyze their command structure?

-[X] For one day until dark (during prep time).
--[X] Target the city in general.- Firing into the city with an aim to ruin as much of it as possible would most likely kill a decent number of slave-soldiers and some Dark Eldar as well as reducing the benefit of the Dark Eldar's knowledge of the city. This option would be best if you are planning to take your time in seizing the inner city.

I just started following this, and it's a really fun read.

I was wondering though. It seems to me like you keep getting your asses kicked in Space and dominate on the ground. Wouldn't it be worth it to focus R&D and manufacturing on your fleet? Like focus on the old battleship and the ship graveyard?

We don't really get our asses kicked in space so much as we've routinely been up against opponents who have either had a significant tech advantage or a significant numerical advantage. We actually did quite well in the second Chaos invasion and against the Tyranids. (we actually defeated the Tyranids entirely in space)

But yes, we are planning on more focus on tech for ships to get us more of an advantage there.

Aye. Well of Urd was a godsend in that regard. DAoT tech is ridonk.

Also, a question. How does post-cognition work? Could Ridcully broadcast the results like a movie show at the location? Or like a play, only with old actors? Working on the final moments of the Well's Captain.

It depends on how clear an image remains, it ranges from a full movie to a symbolic vision that has t be interpreted

[X] Elder Haman

I have a feeling that there's either going to be a great big hole where this city used to be very soon, or that keep is actually a grounded starship and will try to take off. I also vote for adding in the deathstrikes, something big is going to happen soon, and we wanna blow the shit out of it before they can deploy whatever doomsday shenanigans they have planned.

@everyone:
We get another vote before the attack on the keep, right?
durins answer means that
[] Launch one full battery of deathstrikes at the keep before the attack.
[] Black Irons are assigned to lead an attack on the keep as soon as a breach in the keep defenses occur and a path to those breaches are open.
are not valid. During the next time segment there will be no attack on the keep and it can concentrated on the inner city.

For that reason I want to point out going agressively into a area that the DE have most likely prepared to blow up will be paied with lots of lives.
