There isn't really a lot that the nine worlds can all compete in. They're all rather specialised in what they do. Avernus would win in any sporting matches (except maybe against Jotunheim), Svartalfheim would outdo all others in craftsmanship, and Midgard would take the floor at anything not specialised in by other worlds by sheer dint of having such a large talent pool.

I don't know, Avernites might not do so well in the water sports category. In fact, how would Avernites react to swimming pools?
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Blink Spiders can resist drowning for extended periods of time, walk on water, or do eight-legged breaststrokes or something, the little monsters.

Curious person: *holding a wedge of cheese* "do you mind?"

Avernite Athlete: *flexes his rippling muscles.* "You may"

Curious person: *successfully grates cheese on abs* "No way!"

Acernite Athlete: *muscles ripple and flex hypnotically* "Way."

It's as if Rambo decided to marry a female clone and start a new colony. Along the way Shartznigger and Dwayne Johnson came along to also mate and exercise with the colony before calling themselves Avernites.

I approve.

Midguard would probably be able to compete just by sheer weight on numbers inevitably producing some really talented athletes.

Eh, but those athletes don't get the same awesome health care, don't spend every day trying to survive, and probably don't eat as well.
Unless I'm mistaken there must be a middle class between nobility and the unwashed masses in a hive. These people will eat fine, and even if they don't spend every day trying to survive they spend everyday training in their sport. This is probably better training for the vast majority of sports, such as Javelin. When the hell will an Avernite ever touch a javelin?

So how about we chop off some of Frederick's limbs and replace them with prosthetics? It'll make our limbs stronger, eliminate pain if they were to be injured, and decreases our chance of bleeding to death by not having as many vulnerable arteries. AdMech could make some pretty sophisticated and inconspicuous prosthetics back in M41 (when they wanted to), imagine what they can do now with all this Dark Age tech!

Decisions like that are subject to veto from the wife (and probably the daughter).

Edit: Also OC for Rotbart, he only replaces what he loses, he doesn't try to optimize his body beyond what personal training can accomplish.

IIRC, Isn't it illegal to not be armed?

I believe so. I believe we are using a very militant form of Good Samaritan and Civic Duty laws, which requires that the citizens help out Imperial forces and their common man against the hostile lifeforms of Avernus. By not having a weapon, you are NOT contributing to the well being of society, Imperial government, and your fellow man.

Yup. The Swiss model.

Most dangerous mercenaries in history.

Banned by the Geneva Convention.

(No really, the Geneva Convention includes a clause saying that Swiss Mercenaries can only be hired as bodyguards for the King of France and the Pope).

Waaaiiit a minute! Wasn't the french royal lineage extinct at this point? Was it a 'just in case' clause, or what?

I suppose that would make some sense, the goverenment of the time was supposed to only be provisional until they could find a new king, and Napoleon hadn't been that long ago, I suppose...

Hey didn't Muspelheim adopt an Avernite-model militia system?
@durin: What can we expect their military modifier to be after it's fully implemented? Also is any other world considering adopting Avernite military training techniques or the Muspelheim education curriculum?

you expect that their training modifier will reach at least +150
, so far no other worlds are planning on introducing either the Avernite military training techniques or the Muspelheim education curriculum though several are planning on watered down versions

For their militia or for their standard military?

[X] Target the keep.- This will make the keep easier to take when the time comes but will not have any effect on the current fight and will take time or concentration of fire to cause major damage. This option would be best if you are planning to quickly push though the city and attack the keep.
No. of Votes: 20

[X] Targets designated by ground forces.- This will allow the artillery to provide a major advantage to your forces in the city and would be a major advantage for them. This option would be best if you are trying to quickly seize the inner city.
No. of Votes: 18

[X] Concentrate fire on one target.- This will allow your artillery to have a major impact on the selected target at the expense of have no effect on the other targets.
No. of Votes: 17

[X] Attack aggressively- You could order your forces to be aggressive and focus on taking ground quickly. This will allow you to kill more foes and seize more ground but at the cost of significantly higher casualties and a worse kill to loss ratio. - At this speed your would be able to take the inner city in around ten hours.
No. of Votes: 15

[X] Continue to attack until dark- This is the most aggressive option and will allow you to secure a large amount of territory but you will have trouble securing it.
No. of Votes: 15

--[X] Target the city in general.- Firing into the city with an aim to ruin as much of it as possible would most likely kill a decent number of slave-soldiers and some Dark Eldar as well as reducing the benefit of the Dark Eldar's knowledge of the city. This option would be best if you are planning to take your time in seizing the inner city.

[X] Begin to fortify six hours before dark- This will reduce the amount of territory that you take by a massive amount but will allow your forces to erect good fortifications at their positions, clear killing fields and search for secret passages before dark making it near impossible for the Dark Eldar night forces.
No. of Votes: 2

[X] Begin to fortify four hours before dark- This will reduce the amount of territory that you take by a major amount but will allow your forces to erect basic fortifications at their positions, clear killing fields and search for secret passages before dark making it very hard for the Dark Eldar night forces.
