Eh, I'm willing to throw one turn at trying to get the stepmom on side. Having half our options locked into training forever so we can actually reach #fullpotentialRhaenyra is rough, hopefully we switch to longer turns with more actions or something at some point.
I am considering changing the action economy up a bit once Rhaenyra turns 16 or when the Royal Progress ends.

If we had three actions a turn I'd agree, but with only two I don't see how we can do better than every other turn.
Certain aspects of our studies can be put aside for the sake of something necessary to achieve one of our big personal goals and which is just frankly really useful in terms of Westerosi culture. The better we are at the blade and lance, the more leeway we're likely have in other respects.

I mean, look at how much slack people cut Daemon for being a prettyboy badass despite his personality. It's not quite as effective for us with the sexism, but being able to kick in the teeth of anyone that talks shit to us definitely has its uses.

Problem with the whole being skilled with the blade thing is that without being personable enough it could come across as insulting. As seen when we performed better than expected against some of the kingsguard candidates.

Probably the biggest forseeable problem with the whole Royal Progress, if we go from castle to castle emasculating dudes by beating them, and then potentially insulting them when we don't choose them for betrothal, it doesn't engeander too many allies.

We can hang out with the women too but that could result in men seeing us as just another gossiping girl, not fit to be a knight. And that's only if Rhaenyra wouldn't be too bored to hang out with most women, or most women wouldn't be too traditional to like her in the first place.

I hope we can make Rhaenyra a bit more personable or diplomatic before sending her out, otherwise I could see a trail of "Relationship with Lord X Degraded" on our tour.

Been reading up on this Joana Westling, and as a wiki-only reader she really doesn't seem that bad. Her husband died and her incredibly young son wasn't equipped to deal with the very real threat of the ironborn outside the walls. Jeanine Westside didn't try to usurp anything and while her actions were a bit cruel, she did it to the ironborn of all people. The reavers that were burning and pillaging the Westerlands to the ground.

It also mentions that she fought in men's armor which means she probably doesn't have nearly as much beef with Rhaenyra as most non-dornish women would. Even though her brother is a douche.

She even proceeded to send money to Kingslanding for the repairs, a classy move. All in all I'm not feeling overly scared of Jodie Whestaker being some supreme boogeywoman, deadset on taking our head, like some more paranoid people seem to be suggesting.

I mean she's not Dornish but she's not the worst I guess.

I don't think its "paranoid" to think people will want to crown a brother of ours over ourselves given the setting we're playing at. Remember how Stannis more then a century after the dance called Rhaenyra a traitor who paid a traitor's price for trying to steal her brother's throne? Or how Viserys' master of laws insisted till his dying breath that a son should inherit before a daughter? Or how even Rhaenyra herself, when asked to judge on the succession of houses Stokeworth and Rosby, ruled that a younger son should inherit before an older daughter, because she didn't want to alienate the lords with older sisters who were fighting for her? If a brother is born to us plenty and more people will insist that we and not him are the usurper for trying to take his throne. It's s pretty major part of the setting.

And canonically as regent Johanna Westerling showed she will fight very hard if she needs to in order to secure the rule of her son. In that case the person she'll be fighting will be us in case she comes to think that we are stealing her son's birthright.

In that regard she actually reminds me a lot of book Alicent.

I mean, he's still very anti Daemon and corlys, so he might throw support behind us just to keep them from getting any ideas about usurping us when Viserys dies.
I meant it more in the sense that Otto would not have a dog in the succession between us and any brother of ours that may be born to Viserys.

Probably go a different way when she is married to Viserys for years, the most adamant Rhaenyra stan in Westeros.

And again the way you word "secure the rule of her son" feels misleading about the things she did. Makes her sound like a heartless monster killing cousins and uncles to ensure that her son rules. Which she didn't, she just fought proactively against incredibly harsh Inroborn raids that were ravaging the Westerlands.

She didn't kill any rivals, she didn't grasp for more power, she fought a defensive war for her homeland. And when they finally got the resources to get some revenge, she took the opportunity. Which is completely fair because I'm pretty sure most people raided by Ironborn wished that they could sail to the Iron Islands and start cutting them back too.

Spending time with dad is important, learning more about Valyria is an added bonus, especially if it could lead to us seeing the truth of his condition later down the line.
We should speak with Johanna so we can take her meaure and start things on the right foot, helping with the wedding would be a nice way to boost our relationships with both bride and groom.

Since yall chose the martial character, I think next turn you should try and join on the Stepstones. It's your chance to earn some respect from your would be vassels and it puts you throughly in the middle of any plotting between Corlys and Daemon, which is a more troubling potential alliance this go around then it would have been in the True Timeline.
