I like the idea, might still create some problems if future cadet Houses of the Umbers are founded in those lands. Unless those are bound by the same treaty too.

This is the answer we are giving right now. If these two have an issue with the idea, I trust them to raise it. In fact, right now is the best time to get feedback, or we'll just be giving advice (if we give advice) without even knowing how the people actually involved in the whole thing feel about this option.

It's not our pla e to suggest solutions here. We do not have the authority, but we are here as our father's envoy, so it will be taken as an official statement of the crown anyway.

Just. Don't.

We can make suggestions to dad when we are back home.
 
I accepted that one write in since it's effectively combining existing ideas into one idea. Do not try to write in a full paragraph that's the perfect solution to all the Watch's problems, Rhaenyra does not have the skills or knowledge for that and this is not the time. Trying to find the perfect answer in writes is going to lead to less write ins being allowed.

When we talk abt this with Viserys, I think we could steal Ned's & Benjen's Canon plan: create new houses who are cadet branches of the ones whose lands was used to create the New Gift, and have them sworn to pay taxes to the Night's Watch (& defend the Gift obviously)

A thought. Daddy already put our Progress on pause due in part to our willful behavior; perhaps it is not the best idea to test his patience with a write-in that oversteps our authority?

Well time to head home and try and figure out what we are going to do until Spring. Certainly seems like Viserys was just waiting for an excuse to pause the Progress which isn't much of a surprise.
