There is a way this can work. Uwin is the protagonist but Rhaenyra is actually on a different genre of the - I Have been Isekaied as the Dragon Queen Villainess - who destroys the protagonist in the process of escaping the doom flags.
I like this plan better, because it involves 100% more dead Unwins.

Rhaenyra kind of actually is in that position because she's got a bunch of people who read her book directing her decision-making process, though it's missing key isekai elements like "you wake up literally in the body of the character and are unable to change her early-life situation." Since we basically voted to turn Rhaenyra from a popular pretty princess into a jockish giantess princess.

That is why I'm glad you guys went for a sub-optimal build since it's incredibly hard to replicate the errors Rhaenyra made in canon, IE: Basically being a Diplomacy build but proceeded to do so much to weaken herself diplomatically because of her own personal wants and desires. Jock princess is not the best optimally in a lot of ways but it makes for an interesting character narrative that I quite enjoy.

Now I'm curious of what a scholar Rhaenyra would look like? And would kingslanding become a mini Valyria? A new age of technology, architecture, a renaissance?

Everyday I'm thankful Canon Rhaenyra was not chosen, because that was the only option that would have had "Positive interactions" with our groomer uncle Daemon.

I'm sure we could have soured relations with him, but even a little bit of Daemon's grooming attempts would have been unbearable.

Yea everyone is currently on the Unwin Peake hate train, but I have never nor will ever leave the Daemon hate train.

The problem with all this is that in any story where Unwin Peake is the protagonist of his own story, you'd have to accept Peake's misogynistic-witha-sideorder-of-homophobic attitudes as valid within the narrative. Which first, not only no, but hell no, but also second to engage with your thing on its own terms, in that case Rhaenyra simply CAN'T be a member of the (ick) hero's future band of allies.

No no, Rhaenyra's the recurring weirdo miniboss who keeps siding with the enemies of season after season or something.
In case it remains unclear, I just want to clarify that I am in fact joking, the joke being trying to portray one of the most hated and vile character in the setting as some sort of Shonen protagonist or the like. It helps that if you think about it a lot of the circumstances facing Peake are actually pretty typical of a sort of hero's journey, but such a narrative is of course undermined by Unwin Peake being, well, Unwin Peake.

As is the joke has probably run its course.

Oh, I was joking too, in much the same spirit, and only said "I like this" when we came upon a version of the story in which Unwin is NOT the protagonist and in fact absolutely deserves a grisly death and gets it.

Same, I especifically chose this Rhaenyra because it had the most chance of realizing Daemon was/is a creep. Daemon hate train is understandable tbh, he made himself out to be very unlikeable except towards the people who were emotionally compromised into liking him (Aka his family) and even then it was a very, uh, complicated relationship.

Plus while I'm sure the QM could've made scholarly pursuits fun, I'm much more of a fan of literally cutting our problems away lol that's also the reason why I also didn't choose canon Rhaenyra

I believe at least some of us, chose Visenya Reborn because we would have a big dragon to fight with in the Dance.

Tbh also because I didn't want our Syrax to become all chubby like in canon due to not being trained enough, so, yeah.

Plus it doesn't help that the image of a princess-knight in Westeros was too tempting (even with all the problems with misogynists it has caused lol)

The Ironborn never made anything half as impressive as the freehold, you grant them far more credit than they are do.

This isn't a compliment to the Ironborn, it's a dis to the Valyrians. And yes, of course the Valyrians conquered more than the Ironborn - they had fucking dragons. That's not impressive, it's just playing with cheat codes. It was still basically the same society as the Ironborn had - a mining society based around slavery and strength and nothing more.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Valyria was just the Ironborn with dragons.

On the matter of Valryia, I have a picture right here

No I do with the large amount of discussion on other forums.

There's one of those "super smart" SI fics where the protagonist "modernizes" Westeros by doing things like building canals and trying to kickstart the Industrial Revolution and so on. I can't remember it's name, but it's kinda been a meme, and there's a whole genre of SI fics for a lot of settings that go just about the same way.

So I was joking about those impulses taking over.

Navigation/shipping canals are a distant second priority to equipping King's Landing with proper aqueducts and sewerage, surely?
