Admittedly I'm a bit too in the Arpeggio of Blue Steel mindset to stop at just a navy, but the flip side is that I do want to have one regardless.

You'll have to research naval vessels, I think. I don't remember having the missile frigs on the build list.

Naval artillery is a great idea and it certainly has my support. Big guns are always useful, but I fear that the really big naval guns will have to be Superheavies and thus, long term projects. Missile Frigates and Destroyers are certainly going to be faster though.

By the way, while we're on the subject of future research projects, we need to find a way to deal with ranged Kaiju when they show up. We can't just dodge incoming fire, meaning Tacit will be taking damage the whole way until he reaches melee range.

I considered researching Jaeger scale cover, but I discarded that idea as being far too expensive to be feasible. Then I thought about it a bit more and decided that we don't need to make cover for Tacit, we can just build him a shield.

Tacit can hold the shield with one hand and leave the other to attack with his blade. Hell, if dropping the shield is a free action he could just ditch it when he gets into safe charging distance and go get the Kaiju.

Or perhaps a shield and a shield mount of some kind, so Tacit can carry it on the back Captain America style when not using it.
Pile bunker shield! With a giant stake Powered by oversized revolver bullets! That way he won't have to ditch the shield and he gets an armor piercing option!

Paint him red and give him shoulder launchers, while you're at it.

I see what you did there.
Tempting. Very tempting. But unfortunately, there's only so much of a reference you can cram into something before it becomes a rip-off.

We'll have to settle with giving Tacit a Revolving Stake and his future Jaeger partner a giant rifle and enough mobility augments for it to almost fly.

We should totally paint Tacit white and the shooty Jaeger red, though. Reverse references are fun too.

Well, there's another option. Tacit has the arm blades already, so... give it a moustache. ;)

Okay, I have no idea what you lot are referencing. Could somebody explain?

[X] Corral the Kaiju
-[X] Tanks and Choppers form a firing perimeter around Palisade, tanks round front and Choppers round back.
-[X] Move Tacit Ronin to deploy behind Palisade's position so that Tacit Ronin can move in on the Kaiju out of its direct field of vision or attack.
Three rounds later...

The plan is relayed; cut off all methods of escape for Palisade, and capture it.

The Type 100s continue their merciless advance, closing in to form a frontal barrier, as the Hellhounds circle around to the back, staying out of reach of its stinger tail.

Tacit Ronin finally arrives, dropping down before the Perimeter with a thud. The jaeger rises, and takes off, circling around slowly to the kaiju's side.

Palisade hasn't moved. Yet.

Continue the plan?

[ ] Yes
[ ] No

Distances:
East:
- Artillery intersects with the DP.
- Tanks 37 East of the DP (8 in front of Palisade).
- Hellhounds 50 East of the DP (5 behind Palisade).
- Palisade is 45 East of the DP.
- Tacit is 16 units East of the DP (29 from Palisade).

Tacit Ronin runs, circling around towards the kaiju's side. The kaiju doesn't seem to move... until Tacit begins to slow down.

Suddenly, the stinger tail whips into action! The spike drives into the ground, throwing up a plume of dust!

(5)

Squirming, the segmented limb retracts, spike embedded in a chunk of concrete and steel! The tip wriggles, slowly twisting around.

[---]

"Eh?" Alec blinks. "What's it doing?"

Noah's eyes narrow, focusing on the tail.

"I'm not sure... What's this guy's dea-"

[---]

Noah doesn't even get a chance to finish his question. The segmented tail lashes, pitching the chunk of ceramic directly at Tacit Ronin! The chunk shatters against the jaeger's chest, leaving scratches and small dents in the plating! The jaeger stumbles, caught off guard by the attack-- but there's little beyond cosmetic damage dealt.

Glancing Wound! Tacit takes 0 Strikes!

Your turn.

Holy shit, Palisade is shooting bits of the ground at us and is actually capable of doing damage.

I hate smart Kaiju. Well, I hate Kaiju in general, but smart Kaiju in particular. Let's charge this fucker right the fuck now and cut his everything off.

[X] Charge Palisade, cut his tail off.

Attacking the tail means a Called Shot. Statistically, your feet would be better for this. They get a really good bonus against Prone opponents (which Palisade is), and they deal more damage overall.

Furthermore, you'd have to specify how many points you want to shift the shot by. You can do it a maximum of 2, and the tail's technically grouped with Arms and Hands.

The Commodore:

(My own fault for being in transit to not call out "burrowing scorpion" before, but...)

Damn, I'm still working with old ChernoQuest rules here. Called Shots were a flat malus to the To-Hit rolls back then, unless I'm mistaken.

Welp, I guess I'll leave it to someone who knows better than I do, but a called shot to the tail seems to be necessary to capture the Kaiju so we'll need to do it either way.

Nah, the way we capture the Kaiju is dealing it a bunch of damage until we start seeing "Kiaju is losing stamina/energy or something like that. Those messages mean the Kaiju is taking penalties due to strikes. Then we grapple it and apply submission holds so Temporary Strikes take it over its limit, which basically knocks it out without actually killing it. Once it's disabled we can try taking off the tail, but that might cause enough trauma to kill it outright.

Damaging the Spine enough to paralyze it also works, but that takes a Major wound.

Trying to hit the Tail means our ideal hit locations are in the 17-20 range. At max with our called shot bonus we have to roll a 15 to hit it. Very unlikely.

[X]Tacit Charge. Pretend Palisade is a Goomba and do their best Mario impression on its Spine.
-[X]This means Stomp. Called shot to Spine, shifting 2 spots.

I need some consensus, people! Tacit can't stomp, stab, and grapple all at the same time!

[:V] Tacit pose menacingly before Palisade

(Considering how divided we are, I'm waiting for the Drift penalties to start raining diwn)
