Since I need to get to bed so I can get up early, and I won't have much time to think about planning before going to a full day of work tomorrow morning, I'm just going to put down a preliminary plan now that hopefully can provide the basis for a full plan once we know the full damage of what we're looking at, and if you haven't settled in on locking anything down by the time I get back tomorrow I'll finish it up then.

So, barring an opportunity to finalize this once I know what we're looking at, here's my preliminary recommended plan for the week.

[] Plan Six Million Dollar Jaeger (We Can Rebuild Her...)
-[] Clean Up The Mess (-??? R)
-[] Research Jaeger Supercell/Breach-based Power Reactor capable of powering Mk IV and Mk V Jaegers (Free Jaeger Research 1)
-[] Research Tacit Ronin HtH Upgrade*20 (Free Jaeger Research 2)
-[] Research 'Breachgate', with emphasis on stabilization (Free Breach Research) (SAFE RESEARCH MODE!)
-[] Send team to area around Alaska Shatterdome, see if they can dig up anything useful that might have been missed before. (Free Comm Action)
-[] Recycle 9*Solid Iron Plating (Free J-Recycling)
-[] Build 3*Banshee Squadron, 1*Hellhound Squadron, 1*Anti-Kaiju Tank Squad (Free Conventional Construction)
-[] Research Wizards Academy
-[] Research Hyper/Super-Compact Microreactor Power Source
-[] Research Armadillo-Class Mobile Shield Generator (Continue researching a conventional-scale military support unit designed exclusively for the purpose of generating and projecting a defensive barrier shield.)
-[] Reserved for Heimdal Repair (???)
-[] Reserved for Jagdhund Repair Action (???) OR Research Fragmentation Slicer/Fracture Blade Design; Research a variant on the Fracture Blade that's depowered/'weak' enough to function off the power source of a MK III Jaeger.
-[] Reserved for Jagdhund Repair Action (???)
-[] Reserved for Jagdhund Repair Action - Faraday Frame (???)
-[] Reserved for Jagdhund Repair Action - Power Core (???)
-[] Reserved for Jagdhund Repair Action (???)
-[] Reserved for Tacit Ronin Repair Action (???)

(X Resources Spent, X Resources Remain)

Note that, while I realize Tacit is down a laser cannon, we do still have three that are operational. I think that, given the circumstances, we should skip replacing the lone laser cannon this turn and do that in a future turn when we're less stressed on other, more critical needs.

I also set aside one repair action for Tacit and five for Jagdhund with no idea of how many actions it'll actually take to repair Jagdhund and get her back up to full operational status. Also, there's the damaged Heimdal we need to fix on top of everything else.

Tacit, I think, only has basic strikes and, short of that laser cannon, can be fully restored with just a single action.

For Jagdhund I'm guesstimating that it'll take at least two dedicated actions to fix her, and may well take at least another for up to three full dedicated actions on repair alone. While we have spare Supercomposite Plate armor lying around - saving us on having to build more of that - but we are going to have to dedicate action towards building a new Faraday Frame (we might want to build two if we have the spare resources so that, if this happens again, we can save an action on the next round of repairs) and probably a brand new Mk III power core to boot.

I'm guessing that leaves us with three, maybe four free actions to dedicate to non-free actions. I'm siding on three to be safe, since I figure it'll be easier to add an action if we actually get four rather than pick something to remove after the fact.

I also skipped on figuring out costs, so take that into account as well.

Also Purple and Gold is Revolver Shogun's color scheme.
I feel like elaborating on this a bit, so... Has anyone here seen Real Steel? Hugh Jackman movie, boxing robots? Remember Noisy Boy?
That was one of my inspirations when I was conceptualizing Revolver Shogun, and while its design doesn't carry over to a jaeger wholesale very well, the color scheme is one of the things that's remained there in my mental image.

Week 33: Combat End
The aftermath of the fight is a disaster. The intense radiation makes rescue efforts exceedingly difficult, especially in saving those in the Heimdal. Thankfully, it seems like all the troops will live-- though it's doubtful that most will be able to have kids in the future, and a good chunk will be on medication, especially the Heimdal crew

The Heimdal will require 250 Resources to repair and 200 Resources to decontaminate. Both of these may be done in the same action, but the Heimdal may not be fielded until it is decontaminated.

The jaegers, thanks to their shielding, are in a slightly better position. Ashley and Maria, safe in Tacit's shielded conpod, are physically fit as a fiddle, and won't require anything more than the antirad medication that they (and all Jaeger Pilots) are already required to be on. Psychologically, however, they're a bit more vulnerable, though it doesn't seem like it'll affect them in the field yet. Still, seeing a good friend practically die in front of your face can't be good for your mental health.

Tacit itself has taken minor damage. In fact, it'll be about as expensive to decontaminate the mech as it will be to fix the damage.

Tacit Ronin will require 200 Resources to repair, and 200 Resources to decontaminate. Both may be done in the same action, but Tacit cannot be fielded until it is decontaminated. Otherwise, Tacit may be fielded during the next fight as normal.

Jagdhund, however... has taken a pretty nasty hit. The jaeger has been completely cored by the blast, leaving her with a massive hole in her chest. If repairing that wasn't enough, there's also the matter of the Supercell reactor. The actual containment system was ruptured, and the cauterized area makes it hard to judge just what it'll take to completely fix it.

Jagdhund's body will require 1950 Resources to repair, a new piece of chest armour, two Actions, and 200 Resources to decontaminate. Jagdhund's body cannot be fielded until it is decontaminated, and her AI has recovered. Additionally, replacing her Faraday Frame will cost 2000 Resources and take up an additional action (this is optional). Additionally, roll a 1d10 to determine what will be needed to repair the reactor.

In order to minimise any damage to the artificial intelligence, Jagdhund's entire head is simply removed, sprayed down, and hooked up to auxiliary power. People wait anxiously for a sign that the Jaeger's mind has survived... until, nearly a day later, a screen powers on.

>Auxiliary Hindmind Emergency Startup: complete
>Announcement: this unit has entered an intensive defragmentation cycle, designed to address and repair damage to the ANGEL-type Artificial Intelligence designated 11b.
>Announcement: avoid strenuous activity or investigations while 11b is engaged in defragmentation.
>Announcement: in the meanwhile, direct all inquires to 11b Auxiliary Hindmind.
>End Announcement

It simply shut off afterwards.

Jagdhund's AI has entered what appears to be an intensive defragmentation cycle. She cannot participate in combat until she has finished this cycle and recovered. Each downtime, roll a 2d5 to determine the AI's progress in recovering.

And then, there's the problem of Danslief. The kaiju's self-destruct went off with the force of a tactical nuke, and vapourised a good volume of kaiju blue. It's not something that can just be cleaned up, not with all the radiation. The ecosystem's going to take a hit, no matter what, though it's not as bad as it could have been.

Environmental score drops to Stable.

Between the nuke, the environmental damage, the radiation problem, the effects on the SDF, and of course the terrifying defeat of Jagdhund, the public's confidence and good mood is completely shattered.

Morale drops to Steady. No manufacturing bonus.

As for Danslief... well, there's nothing really salvageable from its body, so most of the examination is done through field readings. Kaiju Science suspects that the creature may have been an attempt at a "cost effective" Ascalon, due to the abilities it exhibited. Upon reviewing the physical scans, they discover something else; while Ascalon had very developed cooling fins, allowing it to vent excess heat quickly and safely, Danslief had next to nothing, and had to use its wings as cooling surfaces-- a vastly more inefficient method. With this, and the kaiju's rather trigger-happy use of its energy weapons, it's no surprise that it overheated and went into catastrophic meltdown. However, based on the readings, they do think they could find some application for its abilities.

Danslief Token gained (Plasma Weaponry or Electromagnetic Armour)!

It is now downtime.

Kaiju stats:
SE-26-049
Danslief
Class: Category IV Kaiju
The kaiju is highly resemblant of Ascalon, sporting a semi-mechanical, vaguely humanoid body with spiked and smooth armour. Like the first one, it sports a pair of wings folded against its thighs, and a visored head. However, Danslief's armour is a dull blue, and the kaiju sports a flexible, developed tail-- which ends in something not unlike a cannon.

Stats:
HtH: 3
Ran: 3
Str: 3

Structure:
Dura: 10
Stru: 19

Perks:
- Category IV: Has all the following rules:
-- Flat stun immunity
-- Universal, unbreakable AV of 1 on all locations
-- +5 to all the instant death thresholds
- Superior Action: Danslief automatically ignores 1 point of Agility Penalty it would take from any wound. Danslief may choose to take two separate Move actions if it wishes.
- Aerial Ace: Danslief can fly under its own power, and follows the rules for Flying characters when doing so.
-- Can take off as a move action or as a two point advantage move provided its durability limit has not been exceeded. When airborne, double Agility. Can not be charged while flying and melee attacks can not be made against this character. Ranged attacks are at +1 difficulty to hit the target if it moves while flying though a hit may knock the creature out of control. Each time a flying character takes a strike while flying, take a toughness test (6). If the test is passed, they keep control, if failed, they immediately crash 1d5 units away in a random direction and takes 1d10 blunt damage. If they would land on something, both characters take 2d10 blunt damage, knocked prone and immediately locked in a grapple.
-- Atomic Engine: Danslief treats its durability as +6 higher for the purposes of taking off/flying. Once a battle, Danslief may initiate a Charge immediately after a move action.
- Death Throes: Upon death, roll a 1d10. On a natural 10, Danslief detonates, inflicting 3d10 Burst (0 AP, +0 DB) damage to all within 5 Units. This inflicts EMP and environmental damage as a tactical nuclear bomb to all within 15 Units. On a failure to detonate, Danslief simply dies.

4 weeks until Noah can get in the damn robot. Roll 2d5 for Jagdhund's recovery. Edit: and 1d10 for the state of her reactor.

Also, Tacit doesn't need its laser fixed. It just ran out of "ammo". And finally, I'll save the fancy recolours until your jaegers hit Mark IV or higher, assuming you want them at all. Makes it more special that way.

Well, I'm going to Jagdhund's recovery dice now, so we know if she'll recover by the next turn.

EDIT: Well, that went well.
ltmauve threw 2 5-faced dice. Reason: Rebooting.... Total: 9

Since JH's recovery was already rolled, I assume only the stuff for the reactor repair remains, roll wise?

Edit: If that's good or bad, only time will tell.

Meanwhile, I can only suggest we start working on the repairs (and since she seems to be pretty much out of the next fight, we can split them through this downtime and the next?), as well as work on the full-scale decontamination op. Can someone get Jawa's proposal and adjust it a bit to our conditions? I'd do it myself, but I'm pants at this.
HolyDragoon threw 1 10-faced dice. Reason: Supercell Repair Total: 7

welp, I hope higher is better for those rolls.

also, the fact that they tried for a "budget" version of ascilon has implications. assuming it's not just fluff, it implies that the KM don't have infinite resources to throw at us. They can only afford a limited number of these bio-mecha style kajju. Actually that they are not standard implies that as well. They are way more deadly pound per pound, so if the only limit was the gates capacity we would be seeing loads of these fuckers.

@Fyrstorm Do we get to know whether Jagdhund is starting back up before we post this turn's plans, or not.

If we don't, there really is no point at all in doing most of the repairs.

Okay, taking @Space Jawa 's Plan....

Starting with 44740 Resources

[] Plan Six Million Dollar Jaeger (We Can Rebuild Her...)
-[] Begin cleanup operations in full force (-1700 Resources) (Free Action)
-[] Research Jaeger Supercell/Breach-based Power Reactor capable of powering Mk IV and Mk V Jaegers (Free Jaeger Research 1)
-[] Research Tacit Ronin HtH Upgrade*20 (Free Jaeger Research 2)
-[] Research 'Breachgate', with emphasis on stabilization (Free Breach Research) (SAFE RESEARCH MODE!)
-[] Send team to area around Alaska Shatterdome, see if they can dig up anything useful that might have been missed before. (Free Comm Action)
-[] Recycle 9*Solid Iron Plating (Free J-Recycling)
-[] Build 3*Banshee Squadron, 1*Hellhound Squadron, 1*Anti-Kaiju Tank Squad (Free Conventional Construction)
-[] Research Wizards Academy
-[] Research Hyper/Super-Compact Microreactor Power Source
-[] Research Armadillo-Class Mobile Shield Generator (Continue researching a conventional-scale military support unit designed exclusively for the purpose of generating and projecting a defensive barrier shield.)
-[] Research Fragmentation Slicer/Fracture Blade Design; Research a variant on the Fracture Blade that's depowered/'weak' enough to function off the power source of a MK III Jaeger.
-[] Heimdal Repair and Decontamination (-450 Resources)
-[] Tacit Ronin Repair and Decontamination (-400 Resources)
-[] Jagdhund Repair and Install Chest Armor (-1950 Resources) (We already have Supercomposite Armor plates to spare)
-[] Jagdhund Repair and Decontamination (-200 Resources)
-[] Build Jagdhund Faraday Frame and Install (-2000 Resources)
-[] Reserved for Jagdhund Repair Action - Power Core (???)

So that's a total of....6700 Resources spent, not counting the Power Core repair (pending what @Fyrstorm tells us there).

Which means we have 44740-6700= 38,040 Resources left.

EDIT: Superseded.

Pre-plan stuff/Jagdhund results:

Reports from the auxiliary system are promising, but Jagdhund still won't be operational by the end of the week. Still, current estimates put her maximum recovery time around when Noah would be fit enough to pilot.

Her reactor isn't too badly damaged, either. Examination suggests that they can repair it, given enough time and materials.

Reactor repairs will cost an additional 1200 Resources. This may be done as part of the current two Repair actions, or as a separate one next downtime.

There you go.

Okay, in that case, there really is no reason to Fix Jagdhund now. I'm coming up with an alternative plan in a moment.

Hm. Conundrum....

Starting with 44740 Resources

[] Plan Six Million Dollar Jaeger (We Can Rebuild Her...)

-[] Research Fragmentation Slicer/Fracture Blade Design; Research a variant on the Fracture Blade that's depowered/'weak' enough to function off the power source of a MK III Jaeger.
-[ Research Compact Anti-Kaiju Missile Launchers [Jaeger-Scale] (Research a smaller version of the AKML that could go on the Shoulder or just the Upper Torso instead of most of the chest, while maintaining, or getting close to, original-flavor AKML damage)
-[] Heimdal Repair and Decontamination (-450 Resources)
-[] Tacit Ronin Repair and Decontamination (-400 Resources)
-[] Jagdhund Repair, Power Core Repair, and Install Chest Armor (-3150 Resources) (We already have Supercomposite Armor plates to spare)
-[] Jagdhund Repair and Decontamination (-200 Resources)
-[] Build Jagdhund Faraday Frame and Install (-2000 Resources)

Throwing in an AKML action for my own purposes.

44740-6700-1200=36840 Resources left over.

EDIT: Plan superseded.

[X] Plan No point Cleaning House if no one's home (We can Rebuild her ... later)
-[X] Begin cleanup operations in full force (-1700 Resources) (Free Action)
-[X] Research Breach-Boosted Helios Reactor. (Free Jaeger Research 1) Basically, I don't want to waste all the research we did on the Helios Reactor. Instead of making a new reactor rendering it obsolete, I want an upgrade package that allows us to rebuild a Helios reactor as a Mk 5 design.
-[X] Research Tacit Ronin HtH Upgrade*20 (Free Jaeger Research 2)
-[X] Research 'Breachgate', with emphasis on stabilization (Free Breach Research) (SAFE RESEARCH MODE!)
-[X] Send team to area around Alaska Shatterdome, see if they can dig up anything useful that might have been missed before. (Free Comm Action)
-[X] Recycle 9*Solid Iron Plating (Free J-Recycling)
-[X] Build 4*Banshee Squadron, 1*Anti-Kaiju Tank Squad (Free Conventional Construction)
-[X] Research Armadillo-Class Mobile Shield Generator (Continue researching a conventional-scale military support unit designed exclusively for the purpose of generating and projecting a defensive barrier shield.)
-[X] Heimdal Repair and Decontamination (-450 Resources)
-[X] Tacit Ronin Repair and Decontamination (-400 Resources)
-[X] Jagdhund Repair and Decontamination (-200 Resources) Leaving Jagdhunt coated in Kaiju Blue and radiation would be a bad idea. All other repairs can wait.
-[X] Send teams to Victoria with Blueprints for the Angel-Net Transmiter Basically, we shouldn't ignore these guys. Instant comms would be very helpfull.
-[X] Research Superconducting Energy Storage. Basically, a system that can allow a Jaeger to exceed it's normal energy limits for a short while. Creating powerfull weapons, then downgrading them again to use them on our current Jaegers just causes it to redevelop the same weapon over and over again. We're reaching the limits of the Jaeger, and pushing the limit is better than just reiterating on the same things that stay within it.
-[X] Kaiju Salvage Facility (-1000)
-[X] Kaiju Salvage Facility (-1000) Investing in resources is important.

-[X] Neural Disruptor (-2000) Basically, we need some Defensive capability for our city
-[X] Reverse Osmosis Decontamination facility Neo Seattle has a lot water. Thanks to rain and a tendency for water to flow downhill, all Kaiju Blue is eventually going to end up in the water. Creating a big facility filtering it will help environmentally.

1*Hellhound Squadron
Why Hellhounds? There is no area where a Hellhound is better than a Banshee.

Let me pull the stat blocks out.
6 A-KA-77 'Hellhound' Attack Helicopter Squadrons
A new model of attack helicopter, the A-KA-77s are each about the size of a tank, with the firepower to match. Under each stubby wing is mounted a heavy, phosphorus-filled missile, and a small four-shot rocket pod, all of which are fire-linked to the opposing weapons. The heavy missiles may be replaced with torpedoes. Hellhounds operate in teams of three.
- Move up to 10 units a turn.
- Manoeuvering Thrusters: All Ranged attacks against Hellhounds are at +1 difficulty to-hit.
- 'Kaiju-Buster'-H Super Micro-Missiles: 1d10 Impact/Fire damage. -2 Damage. Range 5/-/-. Hits on 4+. Four Shots Only. Cauterises Wounds. Benefits from Arges.
Pick one on launch.
- Hellfire+ Missile: 1d10 Fire damage. +0 Damage. Range 20/-/-. Hits on 4+. One Shot Only. Cauterises Wounds. Benefits from Arges.
- Neptune-43 Torpedo: 1d10 Impact damage. -1 Damage. Range 15/25/--, Hits on 5+. One Shot Only. Cauterizes Wounds. May only be fired against targets in the water.

5 A-KA-78-L 'Banshee' Assault Helicopter Squadrons
Designed as a successor to the Hellhound, the Banshee trades hitting power for attrition and agility, mounting a series of Laser Vulcans instead of the standard 'Kaiju-Busters'. Like their parent units, Banshees mount a pair of Hellfire+ Missiles, and dedicated gyroscopes and manoeuvering thrusters to make them harder to hit, though their smaller size helps the system be more effective. Banshees operate in teams of three.
- Move up to 15 units a turn.
- Enhanced Manoeuvering Thrusters: All Ranged attacks against Banshees are at +1 difficulty to-hit, +2 if the Banshee squadron has moved 10 or more units its previous turn.
- Micro Laser Vulcans: 1d10 Fire damage. -2 Damage. Range 10/-/-. Hits on 4+. Cauterises Wounds. Benefits from Arges.
Pick one on launch.
- Hellfire+ Missile: 1d10 Fire damage. +0 Damage. Range 20/-/-. Hits on 4+. One Shot Only. Cauterises Wounds. Benefits from Arges.
- Neptune-43 Torpedo: 1d10 Impact damage. -1 Damage. Range 15/25/--, Hits on 5+. One Shot Only. Cauterizes Wounds. May only be fired against targets in the water.

Speed: Banshees win.
Evasiveness: Banshees win if they move that turn. Otherwise a tie.
Attacks: MLVs beat SMMs in range and sustainability. Damage is a tie.
Cost: Both of them are free.

Is there a reason why we should follow his plan? You make it seem as any plan without his approval would simply be invalid.
Finalize things on my revisions to his plan. I suppose that was unclear. I'm personally inclined to fix Jaghund now, so that she's ready to go ASAP. The fact that some work will need to be done anyway, to me, says to go ahead and do that.

Also, your reactor research is really just doing what Jawa's does, effectively, it's just reworded.

Also, your reactor research is really just doing what Jawa's does, effectively, it's just reworded.

Not entirely. Jawa's research plans to start from a clean sheet, while mine builds on existing tech. In addition, mine is to make an upgrade package, while Jawa wants a system that can be applied to both immediatly. (So, mine would start with a Mark 4, and require an action and resources to go to mark 5, while Jawa could go immedialty)

I'm stuck on mobile browsing right now, so making my own plan would be exceedingly annoying. For now, I'll juat give my thoughts on the current plans.

First, fixing our Jaegers should be top priority, including Jagdhund. Doing so would be good for morale and free up all those actions for next week. The Heimdal is lower priority, but with JH down we lose a fair bit of our ranged attack capacity.

Next, the Comms action to go to Anchorage is good, and should let us know if there's any good loot there. I still say looking for resource caches in the area is a better idea but we can take one or two turns to do this.

On the research front, the Mark IV/V reactor research is still a good idea, as is looking into Hypercompact Reactors and keeping the Magical Magic Research going. The idea of an upgrade package for the Helios Stellarator is interesting as well, but I'm unsure of which one is better.

What I disagree on is the weaker Fracture Blade. Tacit's Fangblades are powerful enough for now and he's close enough to the Mark IV upgrade it's simply superfluous. We could intead use it to finish up the other part of the Breachgate research.

I also fail to see the usefulness of a Jaeger-mounted Anti-Kaiju Missile Launcher when Tacit has very effective guns for his build and our primary ranged unit is down. We can use that for other stuff, like Actual Magic Research (as opposed to Wizard Academy Research) or for one of the Breach Pocket research prerequisites.

Not doing it frees up those actions now. Which is better.
JH is down for at least this week whether we repair her or not. Possibly for much longer.

I'll revise the action. Honestly the AKML research was for the PV Jaeger. *shrugs* We can swap things around.
Again, I was trying to be nice to Jawa and take his plan as best as I could before playing around with it.

So....
-Swap Frag Blades for....which Breachgate action (SAFE MODE) would it be we need?
-AKML for ACTUAL MAGIC?
