Fuck. I knew this was going to happen. Oh well, time for the mid-season repair-upgrades with new color schemes, I guess. They're transitional, of course, until we can get the new Reactor for Tacit Ronin's flight upgrade and we research and build a Funnel System for Jagdhund.

How about black and gold for Tacit while Jagdhund gets Black and Red?

Tacit is - well, was, until his armor got burned off - white and red.
Jadghund had grey and purple armor.
We should go with black, red, and some white for Tacit, and black, purple, and gold for Jagdhund.
Well, there's a reason I suggested black and gold for Tacit.

But I wasn't entirely serious about changing the color scheme, though. Meticulously repairing everything and restoring the colors would serve as a great statement to maintain morale.

First, you say that like Jagdhund's going to be combat ready by the next attack. Second,

I have some thoughts of my own on that.

GM's "Neo Tacit": Front Page Ronin. Black, with white details. Maybe keep some red.

GM's "Neo Jagdhund": Perhaps something similar to Iok's Reginlaze, or the Graze Ein? I did design her to resemble a Graze, after all.

Of course, you don't have to change them at all.

Edit: or yeah, just nevermind.

Obviously, repair is going to be our primary focus this turn, though I'll have to wait to get in a full plan of my own until after I get back from the new John Wick movie...

The "bright side" is at least Tacit is still up and running.

So, yay for not a complete teamkill?

Funny you mention IBO mobile suits, I was just looking through them and noticed how similar Tacit and the Barbatos Lupus look. I don't know how I never noticed it before,

And yeah, changing the color scheme isn't necessary, really.

I'll need about four hours before I can properly write up the combat end post, so you guys have time to think.

I propose rebuilding, repair, magic and stat upgrades. Mostly to Jagdhund because she's lagging behind.

...If the Nat 10 that caused the Kaiju to kill itself is your idea of good luck for it, I'd hate to see what your idea of bad luck is.
It's Danslief's final fuck you. Not all Kaiju can just get up and fight again after having been shot, stabbed, grappled, thrown around and then shot at again. No, that's for the inevitable Revenant Kaiju coming down the line.

The self-kill is basically a 'well, if I'm going to die anyway, might as well go out in a blaze of glory' deal.

I propose rebuilding, repair, magic and stat upgrades.

Rebuild/repair is a must, Jagdhund needs to be our top priority this turn above everything else.

Beyond that, I see putting another action into trying to make the Wizards academy a thing, plus the default actions we have of upgrading stats and continuing to work on the Breachgate, the latter of which I'd say has extra importance after basically watching the true mortality of a Jaeger in action.

As far as our free communication action goes, I see one of two options - 1) We can make a run to Alaska and see what's available to find up there, or 2) We test out our ANGELnet system and see who else is available to call beyond KRAUN central command. Is the KRAUN base we've been talking to the only other number, or are there other cities out there in the ANGELnet network we might be able to get in touch with?

If available, I think research into power systems will be important, including getting started on the 'Supercompact Micro-Reactors', and investing in a Supercell-based Jaeger power core that can power both Mk IV and Mk V Jaegers, if for no other reason than the mass expense of Jaeger Power Cores at this point means it's not really cost effective to build a Reactor that powers a Mk IV and then later spend equally absurd amounts of money to build a separate reactor for MK V Jaegers. I know that there's room to research lower costs, but that can only go so far, and as is we're looking at Reactors that are more expensive than brand-new Jaegers themselves.

There's also the Fragmentation Slicer Fangblades, maybe seeing if we can research a 'downgraded' version that's compatible with the power output of a Mk III; maybe not nearly as good as we can get at full power, but still a solid upgrade over our current Fangblades.

There's also the shield systems to look at, including continuing research in a mobile shield generator, and maybe considering looking at research into Barrier Shields that can cover the entire city. Possible starting point for full-on city shields, if nothing else.

Finally, after this battle, it may be time to look at researching an upgrade to our current armor tech.

Based on where we're at and what we're likely looking at in fixing up Jagdhund, even those ideas may be more than we can tackle in a single turn, but I figure it's a good place to start for ideas, and it's where I'm planning on focusing my plans for this week's downtime right now.

Defense augments ho!

We still need to see how many actions we'll need to invest to repair Jagdhund, but that's a good start on a plan. I do agree that continuing research into the Breachgates is a great idea, but I have a very specific reason that ties into the Hypercompact Reactor thing. Namely, sticking the Reactors, either the compact or the full-size ones, into a Breach Pocket with a stable portal outside to link them to whatever they need to power. That will make the actual size of the reactors a non-issue.

Researching the Hypercompact reactors is still a good idea, mind you.

I disagree on the Comms action, however. The best use we can have for it is to search for resource caches, because if we want to take both Jaegers to Mark IV we'll need another seventy thousand RU, and the new Jaeger would cost around a hundred thousand as well, if we start with a Mark III Frame. And that's without taking the new equipment into account.

Researching reactors that power both Mark IV and V Jaegers is a good idea, I agree, but they're probably going to be as expensive as a Mark V power core anyway. Cost will still be an issue.

City-wide Barrier shields sound... Expensive, and we can probably get more immediate results by increasing our Defense stat. It's an idea, but nothing I'd classify as a priority.

Right now, I'd say that overall, the Breachgate, the Compact Reactors, and Magic are the three things that, once we get them established, are going to open up the most options for us long-term.

I don't doubt that any reactors we want for Mk IV or Mk V Jaegers are going to be ridiculously expensive. That's a major part of why I want to get reactors researched the work for both Mk IV and V, because otherwise we're going to be spending far more than we would be if we can get a reactor design that works for both models, once for Mk IV level and again once we hit Mk V.

Oh, they definitely will. I'm salivating at the thought of making an upgraded Allegorica Flight Unit with fuel and auxiliary reactors safely stored within a Breach Pocket so we can maybe use it with a Mark IV Tacit. And only Fyrstorm knows what goodies Actual Magic will bring us.

The Stellarator is nearing the limit of how cheap we can make it, so this is the next logical step to cut down the cost of upgrades. I still want to see how much new technologies like the Hammerspace and Magic can help with these kinds of project.
