Honestly, I'm not sure if I do.

I think I've mostly fallen back to merely being an observer anymore at most. I'm pretty sure the game has shifted in a direction where what I want for the quest and what most other people want for the quest go in two different directions, and on some level right now I'm content to just let things go where they go.
Well, even if what you want and what most of us want go in separate directions, there's still the chance they'll meet up again at some moment in the future, and interaction and discussion can only help that moment come sooner.

So yeah, if you can think of anything to add, or comment, or critique, or whatever else, please do.

i am mostly interested in breach weirdness and kaiju fights. just curious what other people want out of this quest... might make it more fun for us and give the gm food for thought if we just state it outright

Unless something changes in the next half hour or so, I'm gonna lock in plan "Big gun for big game".

The week starts off slowly, but easily enough. Reports are looking good on the decontamination squad's work, even if the electrically-charged "battery fluid" bleeding out of Laidon's corpse has made things a little more irritating. A few samples of the stuff are saved, just in case. Meanwhile, Tacit's repairs go by without a hitch, the jaeger's chest armour reshaped to its intended form by the end of the day. Wiring replacements and paint re-application are similarly uneventful, and the jaeger's back to readiness by the morning.

Cleanup completed!
All Strikes repaired on Tacit Ronin!

Meanwhile, Jagdhund's getting some upgrades of her own. The Schwert Gewehr that she'd tried out before was bulky, clunky, power-hungry, and far too fragile for its own good-- all in all, not really the right weapon for her. However, there's another option for a trump-card weapon, one she won't have to worry about quite as much; the Dolch Gewehr, little sibling to the Schwert, and generally a better gun for her style of fighting. While limited to a single plasma bolt at a time, and a six-second cycling/cooldown time between firings, the gun has nearly the same range as her M-99, and packs far more punch per shot than the battleship shells that the machine cannon uses.

The jaeger's right shoulder pad is temporarily removed for modification, in order to make space for a motorised track that's almost identical in design to the one on her other shoulder, where the IE-10 mounts. In fact, the 49b, when stored away, is almost the same size as the IE-10-- though it looks far more like a cross between the Schwert and the M-99 than the boxy projector-- making the jaeger's silhouette nicely balanced.

Dolch Gewehr equipped to Right Shoulder!

Minor crunch change made to the weapon, by the way. Just making stuff clearer and less silly.

I'm totally not copying the Dolch's design from the shoulder-mounted M-99 in that Franxx!Jagdhund pic. Totally not.

With Laidon's corpse offering some neat finds, and future incursions offering even more possible threats, it's decided to finally give K-Science what they want; dedicated research quarters. Of course, it's not just active kaiju that pose a threat-- there's also the kaiju who've settled down in the area to worry about-- so new scanners and patrols are set up and organised, to better detect these other kaiju, wherever in Seattle's territory they may be.

K-Science Laboratory Constructed!
Kaiju Hunt Scanner Constructed!

But while work may continue in the city as normal, for the NPPDC, it's time to move out again. There's a certain kaiju that needs killing, and they're not gonna keep it waiting any longer.

Get ready for deployment, and decide what forces you're bringing to fight Goryo, keeping in mind what you actually know about it currently.

All your Actions aside from the cleanup, Tacit repairs, and normal construction stuff is happening
after you fight Goryo, by the way. That's why I'm not asking for rolls right now. This also gives you time to figure out such things as what five Conventionals you'll be making, since the plan doesn't actually say.

Hm i have never voted before so what do you mean by proto vote?
Do you mean something like this?
[] research percision placment of small breach gates at range

this would open up the possibility of either getting the chopper unit or the offenseive breach gates
Would you accept just figuring it how to do them at range at all?

...And apparently I shouldn't have gone on that walk. Oh well, caught lots of Pokemon. Worth it. (I mostly play Pokemon Go to encourage myself to walk.) I kinda wish we'd built those Salvage Facilities, though. We don't have anything better to use those Manufacturing slots on, and we could really use getting more resources.
The week starts off slowly, but easily enough. Reports are looking good on the decontamination squad's work, even if the electrically-charged "battery fluid" bleeding out of Laidon's corpse has made things a little more irritating.
"Translation: only three of my people electrocuted themselves. And, since they survived, they get to endure the mockery of their peers who actually used the insulated gloves and plastic containers."

The Jaegers take three Jumphawks and the Heimdal and Hlin each take a 'neura, leaving us with five Jumphawks and eleven 'neuras, for a total of... 27 slots for units.

That's enough for all our ground forces, including the AKBs, and still have one slot to spare. There's... There's little reason not to bring everything, it seems. And looks like we don't need more Meganeuras.

So... bring everything except the AKBs, leave a garrison with the transports and march the rest of the way to the target.

Speaking of our target, Goryo's readings tell us it is "incredibly dense" with a "scattered signature". I think that means it has really good armor with a way to make our sensors fuzzy. I doubt it's actual stealth, but it might scatter whatever our sensors use to find Kaiju and maybe resist energy attacks by scattering them.

we already know how to make breaches at range we need to learn how to make breaches at designated coordinates without knowing those coordinates prior to that minute. also if i remember right our research determined that larger breaches are harder so i thought we should sacrifice size for precision and quickness.

Huh. I knew I forgot something.

Banshees, Meganeuras and a Mura, maybe?
I'll need a while to figure out what we can bring to the fight.
I dunno. There's a reason I left it blank. And my brain is honestly pretty cloudy at the moment. I did many things today, including calculus class and walking around downtown for an hour+. So I don't think I can analyze much right now.

I guess a good place to start, after getting enough Meganeuras, is to consider what we've recently designed, and haven't built any of yet. What was our decision on the Moray submarines? Are they not good enough, or are the Murasames just too good? Because we could always start working on our submarine fleet.

Edit:

Missed this, because tired. I'm not sure when we figured out how to make them at a distance. If you're referring to the work done on portable hammerspace to store weapons, that's more about creating a mobile pocket dimension than creating portals at a distance. If you mean the Breachgates, those require building gates at both ends.

We can only build one per turn, since it's a naval unit.
Gotta start somewhere. If you don't build any, you'll never have a fleet. And, since they're not always going to be relevant, that gives them some chances to build up their numbers on turns without water combat.

[X] Bring all ground units, except for the AKBs.

@Fyrstorm can you give us any info about the operation area? Cat 0 presence, general geography, any risk of attack on the Carry-alls while we fight?

hm nixeu I was talking about breachgates. So since we already know how to make gates it should not be hard to mount a smaller version on a chopper right?

You guys honestly don't know that much. You've never actually gone out and had a look at it with the scouts-- just scanners. Still, you do know a few things.

Goryo's "lair" is in the mountainous region of Olympic National Park. Your best bets for deployment are probably near either Queets River or Hoh River, since those look like flatter areas that'll better support your conventional forces, and give the kaiju fewer places to hide (not to mention you won't be dealing with the Difficult Terrain penalties for stuff). Other than that, you've just got what you scanned up. And I literally listed everything else you know about Goryo itself (Cat IV, incredibly dense, scattered kaiju signature around its location). That's it.

Okay then.

[X] Bring all ground forces except the AKBs.
-[x] The Air Force is coming as well, of course.
[X] Scouts are to fly in front of the Carry-Alls and be on the lookout for potential threats and anything else of note.
-[x] Upon landing, have the Artillery set up a perimeter around the landing zone and be prepares to fire at any threats that appear. They'll be reinforced by five Tank squadrons, two Mortar teams and the Hlin will defend the Carry-alls with its Barrier.

This should cover everything and leave us with a fallback point. We'll still have six Tanks, five Mortars and the Heimdal for the Ground forces. I also forgot to add the Fueld Resupply Squads to my first count, so we do get to use all unit slots here.

I also checked previous posts with the Search function and there were comments about increased activity in the beast's lair and that it spends some time underground. Nothing else of note.

[X] [Cons] Moray x2, Shell Tank x1, Banshee x2

@Nixeu is right that we should build Morays to start a naval fleet, but I think we could always use more firepower, especially flexible firepower like the Banshees.

I will admit I got absurdly excited when I saw "river" there. Then I checked the map.

Technically, the Morays are naval units, so you can only get free ones through the Dockworks. Also, Shell Tank?

I will admit I got absurdly excited when I saw "river" there. Then I checked the map.
Perhaps "river valley" would have been more accurate. In any case, "river" typically won't mean "thing you can run your navy around in" most of the time.
