My reasoning for Shinji and Misato (aside, in part, from checking up on Shinji himself and seeing how he's doing) is that I think the two of them together might provide a more helpful/nuanced take on Asuka and her relationship (whatever kind it may be) with Shinji than dealing with Asuka herself.

Misato Katsuragi's Apartment

You are Yukari Tsukiumi, and you try not to wince as Misato Katsuragi chugs a can of cheap beer.

"DAMN that's good! So, what did you want to talk about?" Misato asks, her face a bit rosy.

"Well, I was just wondering how Asuka and Shinji are getting along. I heard they had a few...issues working together when fighting the last Angel." You say cautiously.

Misato scoffs before taking another swig of beer.

"That's putting things lightly." She says.

"Care to elaborate?" You ask with a raised eyebrow. Misato groans before elaborating.

"Here's the thing. Asuka thinks she's so much better than everyone else and won't shut up about it. Shinji doesn't like putting up with that attitude, but he also likes her, so he puts up with it until he reaches a tipping point, then snaps at her, which causes her to hurl verbal abuse at him, and it perpetuates a vicious cycle." Misato explains before downing the rest of the beer in her current can. "Pretty sure the only reason they were able to work together enough to beat Israfel was because it was that or die, and I don't know if that's going to be good enough next time."

"Uh-huh." You jot down some notes. "And how does Asuka feel about Shinji?"

"You can ask her yourself." Misato points toward the door. You turn to see Asuka leaning on the doorframe, and you swear she's sneering at you. "Well, have fun!"

Misato gives a cheerful wave before leaving the room. Asuka gives you an icy glare.

"Oh, hey, you're one of the dykes. Whaddya want?" Asuka says casually.

You tamp down on the sudden urge to slap her as hard as possible. You're pretty sure that with your cybernetics, you'd break her nose.

"Just wondering how you're getting along with Shinji. Heard the last Angel fight got ugly." You put on as calm an air as you can manage.

"Yeah, because I had to hold his hand the entire time!" Asuka sneers.

"According to the reports that NERV handed over, BOTH of you got your asses kicked in the first encounter with Israfel, and YOU were the one who lagged behind in the synchronization training until Misato told you to get a grip. Care to explain that?" You counter sardonically.

"Tch! They're just propping up Third because he's the commander's son! I'M the superior Evangelion pilot, and everyone knows it! They're just too scared of incurring the commander's wrath to act on it." Asuka says arrogantly.

"Uh-huh. You say this despite Shinji having more experience fighting Angels than you, AND the fact that if the two of you weren't perfectly in synch against Israfel, we'd all be dead." You say skeptically.

"Please! I was just holding myself back so he'd be able to keep up with me." Asuka says.

"You know, you still haven't answered my question." You point out.

"How I'm getting along with Shinji? Well, the dummpkof doesn't seem to know when to know his place around me. Sometimes he'll stay quiet and nod, like a good little boy, and other times he'll put up a fuss for silly reasons." Asuka recounts.

You're pretty sure those 'silly reasons' would be considered legitimate grievances by anyone else. Asuka continues.
"I mean, he's only as cute as the next guy, he should consider himself lucky I even tolerate him!"

Wait...does Asuka...like Shinji? You run over a checklist in your head.

Appreciation of looks? Check.

Terms of endearment, however backhanded? Check.

An unstated but obvious desire to spend more time around him? Check.

By God, I thought Ryoko and Kaname were tsunderes, but this takes it to another level! You think to yourself as you pretend to consult your notes.

Yukari has gleaned that Asuka is attracted to Shinji. What does she do next?

[ ] Tease her

[ ] Move on

Yukari has enough time to talk with one more person to get a feel of things. Who does she go to?

[ ] Shinji

[ ] Rei

A/N: Not as happy with this update, please let me know if I kept everyone in character, I'm especially wary about how I portrayed Asuka. Please vote, discuss, and critique!

I am not sure I can believe that with out the EVAs we can't deal with the Angels considering what some of or other pilots and machines can do. Also Asuka may have a bad way of putting it but Shinji does get carried a good bit by the rest of his teammates and his Dad does have a ton of control such that others can't really speak up no matter what he does.

Basically Shinji acts like a push over and Asuka is the kind of person to run some one like him over if they can't stand up for themselves. This is all exacerbated by the Situation they have been forced in to before they are even 19.

[X] Tease her
[X] Shinji's classmates

I agree the girl for all that she can make good points needs to get some control over her emotions and not exploding if she is teased for possible thinking the idiot is attractive could be a good start.

[X] Tease her
[X] Shinji's classmates

Keep in mind that Shinji and Asuka dealt with Israfel off-screen without backup because no one else was available. Just throwing that out there.

I was more saying we could kill a Angel if they weren't available to fight it and that we would not be fresh meat for one. I was not saying they could not take care of one on their own just that saying "we would all be dead if they could not do it by themselves" sounds more like a exaggeration then a fact when fighting the things.

I think that was in the specific context of them not having any backup for Israfel. If EITHER of them had failed under those conditions > Angel breaches Terminal Dogma > gg no re

Let's hope SEELE won't sabotage our efforts here, because we have little recourse against them until we secure Kaji and we missed our shot of interacting with him here...

For one thing, Tsunderes are for bully. And Turnabout is fair play, especially after that crack about Yukari's sexuality.

As far as Kaji goes, he is and will remain a tricky one. Just because he's our most obvious out of character way to get at SEELE doesn't make him trustworthy in the slightest. And I for one find it unlikely that this will be our only chance to secure his cooperation.

If we're quite unlucky Kaji might even pull a gun on us if he ever finds out about the Disaster Aversion Plan.

Hoo boy, it's TV Asuka and not movie Asuka.

I had forgotten which version of Evangelion was being used here.

[x]Tease her.
[x]Shinji.

As long as we're playing matchmaker, we might as well make time to check up on the other half of the match in question.

Well, that didn't go that great...even if Asuka has made a mistake. We are definitely teasing her.

I'm torn between checking Shinji and checking his classmates. On the one hand, I definitely want to check on him so he doesn't feel like we're going around him, on the other, his classmates or Rei might have some good information...

Bah.

October UE 0083
Misato Katsuragi's Apartment

You are Yukari Tsukiumi, and you decide to take a measure of revenge against Asuka for her calling you a dyke.

You put on a coy smile.

"Oh-ho, he's cute, you say?" You ask smugly.

Asuka sputters a bit while failing to conceal the fact that she's now blushing.

"Shut up! I only said that in comparison to the other guys in the class!" Asuka tries to put up a front. It's not working.

"And what's this about him being a 'good little boy' for you sometimes? Do you...LIKE Shinji?" You waggle your eyebrows suggestively.

"I don't like him! He's a passive, pathetic dummkopf who's too nice for his own good!" Asuka sputters.

Okay, she definitely likes him, even if she'd rather die than admit it. You think to yourself.

"You keep telling yourself that~🎵" You tease in a singsong voice.

"Gah! Get out!" Asuka screeches, her face almost as red as her plugsuit now.

You chuckle before facetiously blowing Asuka a kiss on your way out.

The next day, after school
First Metropolitan Junior High School, Classroom 2-A

"How Shinji and Asuka are gettin' along? Geez, where do we even start..." Toji Suzuhara mutters.

"Not well, that's for sure." Hikari Horaki deadpans as cleans the blackboard.

"Care to explain in...more detailed terms?" You ask.

"Honestly? I can't tell if they genuinely hate each other, or if they're secretly in a relationship and bicker like an old married couple to cover it up." Kensuke Aida says as he adjusts his glasses.

"Given my interaction with Asuka yesterday, I'd say it's something in between." You say.

"Seriously?! How does that work?" Toji exclaims in shock.

"Oooooooh, I think I get it. Asuka secretly likes Shinji, but is too full of herself to admit it, so she behaves like a tsundere on steroids, amiright?" Kensuke eagerly speculates.

"Got it in one." You smile.

Shinji's classmates take a few seconds to mull things over with this new context.

"Okay, a few things make a lot more sense now." Hikari Horaki says.

"Care to elaborate?" You ask with a raised eyebrow. Hikari sits down at her desk before explaining.

A few days ago, after they killed that last Angel, I found a crumpled up piece of paper under Sohyru's desk. At first I thought that what was written in it was nonsense, but now I think it might have been a note to Ikari that she abandoned."

"What makes you say that?" Toji asks as he leans back on his chair.

"Most of what was written was crossed out, but I'm pretty sure the most legible portion was 'Shinji Ikari' written in katakana. There was also a little heart next to a crossed out signature, which looked like really poorly written kanji." Hikari explains.

The boys take a few seconds to process this new information.

"Well, Sohryu is pretty shit at writing kanji..." Toji says, chin on his hand in a 'Thinker' pose.

"'Well' nothing! That note was totally from Asuka!" Kensuke says triumphantly.

All three classmates' attention are gotten by you sighing.

"What's wrong?" Hikari asks.

"Nothing you have to worry about right now, just that having my suspicions confirmed makes things a lot more complicated." You say.

"Well, anything we can do to help?" Toji asks.

"I don't-actually, maybe." You place your hand on your chin in thought for a bit before continuing. "See if you can get the two of them to go on a normal date, or as close to a normal date as Asuka will admit to."

"Geez, you don't ask for much, do ya?" Toji snarks.

"Well, it's certainly not going to be easy..." Kensuke muses.

"Sorry, it's just that the Solar Vanguard has a vested interest in Shinji and Asuka's sanity not coming apart at the seams in the immediate future. Can't say much else at the moment." You shrug apologetically.

"Well, we'll try. No promises though." Hikari says.

"That's all I can ask for, thanks." You say gratefully.

Shinji's classmates insist on treating you to ramen from a local cart stall before you go back to the hotel.

Caerleon class Floating Battleship Granberry, docked in the British Isles

You are Oldrin Zevon, and you're still not sure if the course of action Marrybell and Cornelia are contemplating is wise.

You've decided to make your opinion known tonight in bed with her Highness. As the two of you bask in the afterglow, you raise your point.

"Your Highness...Marrybell...is going against the Emperor wise?" You ask timidly.

Marrybell smiles sadly before kissing you on the cheek.

"Oldrin, my love, this invasion of conquest that the Emperor has ordered is completely illogical. If he had stated that he intended to conquer Japan for its reserves of Sakuradite, it would have made a smidge of sense, but to simply order the takeover of a strategically worthless island? I fear that he has gone mad, and will only worsen the state of the world." She explains.

"I know that, but..." You take a deep breath to calm yourself.

"You fear the power that the Emperor has at his disposal. That is natural. However, we are not without allies." Marrybell says.

"I just hope they're enough..."

Marrybell engulfs your lips in a passionate kiss to reassure you, and the two of you melt in each others' arms. The two of you are interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Your Highness? Your sister Cornelia is calling on the...private line from the HMS Pendragon." Toto's voice says.

"Understood. I will be there momentarily." Marrybell says while masking her disappointment at your fun being interrupted. She settles for French-kissing you for a few seconds, with the two of you eagerly tasting each others' tongues until you separate.

As the two of you get off the bed and get dressed, you purposefully lean down to give Marrybell a good look at your rear. Her Highness makes a noise of delight before playfully slapping your thigh. The two of you share a smile before you finish getting dressed and head to the bridge.

Kaname Oghi's Apartment, Shinjuku

You are Kallen Kozuki, and dealing with Villetta Nu regaining her memories is not something you were expecting to deal with today.

Viletta is currently holding Ohgi at gunpoint in his kitchen while you and Tamaki look on from the foyer. Tamaki is pointing his sidearm at Villeta in an attempt at intimidation, while you're on the phone with Zero.

"Zero, an unexpected development has occurred. Villetta Nu has regained her memories and is currently holding Ohgi hostage, should we terminate her?" You ask.

"Negative, try to resolve the situation peacefully, we can't afford to risk blowing anyone's cover so close to a crucial operation. Do you need support?" Zero asks.

"I don't know if they'll get here in time, the situation is volatile." You say.

"Understood. Contact me as soon as the situation is resolved." Zero says before hanging up.

You turn back toward the kitchen to see that Villetta's hands are shaking.

"I...I should be disgusted. I fell in love with an Eleven, fawned over him like a commoner housewife! I even slept with him! And yet...why...why do I feel so conflicted!?" Villetta shouts as tears stream down her face.

Ohgi takes a step forward.

"Please, Villetta, I love you, it doesn't have to be like this." He says in a calming tone.

Villetta's hands shake even more before she drops to her knees. Ohgi hurriedly steps forward and takes the gun from her, turning the safety on and taking out the magazine before ejecting the chambered round.

You and Tamaki let out sighs of relief. As you call Zero, you hear Villetta sniffle.

"I...I'll fight with you, dear. Neo-Britannia will never take me back, assuming they don't think I've been dead this whole time." She says.

Ohgi places the pistol and ammunition on the counter before walking up and embracing her.

"Thank you, but are you sure you want to do this?" He asks.

Villetta nods.

Neo-Britannia intends to take and hold Kamine island. For what purpose is not known to Cornelia and Marrybell.
It is suspected that the Knight of Six, Anya Alstreim, knows the true purpose of the invasion.
Leaked intel from the OSI suggests that Jeremiah Gottwald has been cybernetically reconstructed and brainwashed as a part of the invasion force. Cornelia recalls that he idolized Marriane vi Britannia as a guard at the Aries Villa, perhaps revealing Lelouch to Zero might sway him...

What plan of action did Cornelia and Marrybell decide on?
Note: any plan that involves taking action while the fleet is at sea will primarily involve aircraft, ships, and amphibious units. Tanks will not be of any use, and ground Knightmares and Mobile Suits will serve primarily as extra guns for ships in such a situation.

[ ] A quiet word
-Invite the Knight of Six onboard Cornelia's flagship, the Pendragon, and kidnap her while en route to Japan.
-Will provide opportunity to interrogate her, but also has a high chance of provoking her own battlegroup and the loyalist forces if she has some kind of panic button (which she likely does)

[ ] Consider this self-disownment
-Blindside the loyalist fleet and the Knight Six while en route to Japan, with a focus on capturing the Knight of Six
-You will not have any support from the Black Knights or the wider Solar Vanguard except Celestial Beings' flagship, the Ptolemios, and whatever Gundams they have available

[ ] Sudden but in hindsight inevitable betrayal
-Leak the invasion plans to the JSDF, and plan out a way to crush the invasion force when they land at Kamine Island, with a focus on capturing the Knight of Six
-Will have support of the JSDF and Black Knights when combat occurs
-Has a high chance of being found out

[ ] Write-in

A/N: Another big decision, this time related to Code Geass. Please vote, discuss, and critique!

This is a hard one. I think getting the info the JSDF is the best option, but there has to be a subtle way of doing it to try and mitigate the chance of being found out.

It seems like whatever option we pick here will make it obvious that both Cornelia and Marrybell aren't on Britannia's side anymore (unless we luck out on option 3 and the leak doesn't get traced to them or we make a write-in that doesn't expose them, which is unlikely).
As for the non-write-in option, currently tempted to go for option 3, since it would give us more forces available for the operation and it would give us access to the emergency button that is Zero's Man of Miracles pilot ability (even if the leak being traced to our insiders could carry the risk of letting our enemy plan around us deploying forces to intercept the Britannian armada at Kamine). Option 2 would be a bit risky since I doubt the element of surprise and support from CB would be enough to allow us to fight off the loyalist elements in the Britannian armada and capture the Knight of 6.

Hm.

Well, I feel trying to be friendly would be disastrous.

Like, unless we play it perfectly and then either haul ass trying to escape or drop on the best-executed ambush, it's going to leave us in knifing distance for a very bloody and brutal battle.

So, from the default plans, it's either we suckerpunch them or shore up for a counter-ambush

Thing is, the counter-ambush would most likely let them prepare for it, while Suckerpunch leaves us undermanned for it.

...Unless...

Huehuehue, could we do that? Could the Heroes of Japan stand against the invasion fleet? Can we call upon the Super Robots to defend their homeland?

Of the default plans, I like kidnapping the best. If we neutralize "Anya", the whole invasion becomes strategically void, and we get access to a massive intel piñata. Admittedly, an enormously dangerous one.

I think we can improve on this, though. This is an opportunity to get Orange-kun onside as well, and we need to be prepared to counter the inevitable response even if we successfully decapitate the loyalists with a kidnapping. I wonder if Zero can figure out a way to cause a landslide at sea...
