I really think we want to make sure SEELE doesn't catch wind of our surprise windfall here, lest they will be able to plan around them and nullify any advantages they give us (especially since we decided for the more covert sabotage option and SEELE is at best unsure if we are going after them in force or if O'Neil just got lucky and sniffed Instrumentality on his own; them knowing of the windfall will cause them to realize that O'Neil found out about Instrumentality because we tipped him off, so our efforts in staying off radar will rendered useless; also, if we pick Arhans and SEELE decides to send in their fanatics after our windfall, then we might lose part of them). All-in-all, the only real options to consider are Celestial Being or Black Knights, and the latter group guarantees that our windfall won't be discovered.

Holy shit. I did not expect SEELE about to be financially pwned going as well as it will, since it means we've dropkicked the Instrumentality Project without needing to fire a beam rifle or lift a finger at it really. The fact we got two EVAs and the Trident and their pilots as allies from the Distortion in the fallout is a pretty nice bonus as well, since it means we can meet them properly without SEELE trying to screw with us in the moment.
As for the DEVAs and Arhans compared to the Raijin-Oh, we're rescuing the DEVAs and Arhans, no doubts about it. We're stilll repairing the Gunbuster, and if we recover the Raijin-Oh, repairing that too could delay repairs for both. Plus, since none of the Raijin-Oh's pilots are alive anymore, we won't have any idea how it'll work in-quest beyond similarities with our Rune Gods, and I'm pretty worried it might be too damaged to repair in its current state, so pragmatically-speaking:

I'd love for our new allies to be able to have their stuff repaired in any of our Super Robot labs, but even with SEELE being kicked in the teeth by the Instrumentality Project basically being audited, I don't want us to take any chances with grabbing the attention of a freshly-pissed SEELE now out to stomp us into the dirt and ground underneath their heels, especially said allies as they're pilots of EVAs and an EVA competitor.

Oh...That is...

Oh man, that's fucked. Poor class 5-3...

For those unaware, Raijin-Oh is a mech that parodies and plays the "multiple pilots required" and "child pilot" tropes completely straight. At full power, it required literally the entire class. Only a few actual pilots, admittedly, but the rest of the class handled everything that wasn't fighting. The pilots were also in Fifth Grade.

It was also a very good series filled with happy moments and the Power of Friendship, so to see that the Council massacred them...

I kinda wish we could get Raijin-Oh, but comparatively, it just wouldn't work out...Raijin-Oh at full power is very strong, but it's not invulnerable or something reality-breaking powerful like Final GaoGaiGar, Gurren Lagann, Buster Machine 7, or Ideon.

But more than that... without the Class, what is Raijin-Oh? Unless some of the Class still lives... it isn't really worth it, ignoring the sheer amount of investment needed.

I do hope that Belzeb and Taida (two villains turned to the side of Peace) are fighting to free and...probably avenge... the Raijin-Oh class...

We've just handed SEELE their biggest blow since ever. We need to keep them in the dark as long as possible and we can still do some repairs. Also Expelled From Paradise is something I find fun. Same with that reference to SG-1.

I think sending the EVAs to the Saotome labs is best as they are the group we can trust who has the best understanding of the EVA and I trust them to be able to keep things under wraps.

He would make a great leader of the Earth Federation and doesn't tolerate the shenanigans of the corrupt/incompetent military and political officers who were the reason why life in UC sucked for everyone.

I Could say things were screwed by Zeon's philosophy being a bit nuts even before he died and it was taken over by other people as the reason life ended for a lot of people before their time.

Still a expy of Jack O'Neil would make a interesting senator for this point in the UC timeline and where it intersects with where we are now. So former military works fine by me.

Even if they find out about the extra dimensional visitor we just recovered were sent to the Saotome Institute they would have to make a faint jump in logic to think that the Solar Vanguard having them checked over at one of the Super Robot Labs means their plans for the "Instrumentality" have been found out and they need to attack us. The people we just recovered have no connection to this world NERVE let alone SEELE o wanting to make sure they are friendly first makes a good amount of military sense so it would not in may mind tip them off about what we know even if they find out about the new arrivals soon after we recovered them. They could try to put pressure on us through their connections to release the EVAs to NERVE but I think that's the most they would do with just knowing about this group of dimensional travelers.

In Mobile Suit Gundam 1979, Zeon Zum Deikun was an idealistic man who wanted humanity to leave Earth so that the planet can heal from its overuse of resources and ravages of civilization, and they should usher a new chapter of mankind's evolution in space.

It's the same reason why Char was drawn to Blex Forer who looked like the blonde version of his father and share the similar goal, and they formed the AEUG together. Of course, history repeats with Blex dying like Zeon Zum Deikun did albeit the former died to bullets by Titans assassins and the latter apparently had a fatal heart attack which Char blamed it on the Zabis who then took over and twisted his father's ideals into a monstrous caricature.

Ah. The Char understanders have logged on.
To be fair, Blex Forer really does look like Zeon Zum Deikun if he had dyed his hair and beard blonde in Zeta Gundam anime. Not much is known about his life aside being the founder of AEUG after seeing Jamitov screwing everyone with the Titans he controlled, and Char "I have never betrayed anyone in my entire life!" Aznable actually respects him and was devastated of the man's cruel assassination as if he saw his father's death all over again.

For a guy who led the AEUG that should have reformed the Earth Federation as its main purpose, there is very little focus on him. Is he a distant cousin of Zeon Zum Deikun or just an Identical Stranger who share a similar appearance with Char's father?

Most of Humanity had already moved into space by the time of Zeon's death and some of those people clearly weren't happy about it for various reasons. I am someone who fully believes that humanity's future is out among the stars and we will not stay on Earth for ever but I am not foolish enough to believe that moving every human of of Earth would suddenly make everything better as if the Planet was holding us back. Zeon my have been driven by a ideal vision of the future but his connection to Reality seems to have been weak at times.

Humans have as much right to live on the Earth as any other species and to hear it implied that humans living on Earth are Parasites when the hunk of Rock we live on is just a Planet always annoys me. Not even being Newtypes stopped people from disagreeing and killing each other so the whole humans should all leave Earth to become Newtypes and that will bring peace just comes across as naive at best to me.

If we ever got a clear run down of what Zeon's vision of the future actually looked like then I might have more to say but as it is his philosophy always came of as half baked to me.

While Sayla didn't end up like her brother and remain kindhearted despite losing her parents. It helped she had a family in Amuro and their fellow members of the White Base crew as Fire Forged Friends while Char had trouble in connecting with others especially during his time at the AEUG.

That's fair and The Origin did gave a different portrayal of Zeon Zum Deikun as an unhinged man than an enlightened philosopher when preaching his ideals to the Colonies. In contrast to his MSG 1979 counterpart who was depicted as a Too Good For This Sinful Earth person.

You are Angela Balzac, and you're surprised that you're alive, much less after having successfully fled to another dimension.

Alas, in every bunch of grapes there are sour fruits along with the sweet; this new dimension is also under assault by the Council.

At the very least, this dimension seems to be far better equipped than the one you fled. For starters, there are many more Super Robots, along with an actual world government to rally behind, this so-called Earth Federation. Granted, it's in the middle of a civil war, but it seems like it's going to come to an end, one way or another.

Unfortunately, your exit was not at all clean.

According to those who had revived you, the Genesis Ark's computers had been irreparably damaged by the crash, dashing any hopes you had of reviving Frontier Setter. What was left of the Raijin-Oh had been found in one of the ship's cargo holds and deemed unsalvageable, the only thing retrieved from it a partially burnt photo of Hinomori Elementary's Class 5-3.

You blink tears out of your eyes as you give a bitter laugh. Everyone you knew in the old dimension is now gone, as far as you can tell. The last you had heard of Dingo, he was leading some kind of resistance movement against the Council alongside what was left of NERV's East African Branch. DEVA had, after contributing the 150-strong company of Arhans and pilots who went with you, managed to put approximately 82% of the population into physical bodies and send them to Earth before the Council attempted to initiate a hostile takeover. The High Officials of Deva, for once doing something productive, had opted to self-destruct DEVA rather than let the Council obtain it. Class 5-3 and its supporters in the JSDF went out in a blaze of glory fending off an all-out assault from the Council against Hinomori Academy, the school and Raijin-Oh itself only falling after a combination of orbital bombardment and an assault by a team of eight highly advanced Super Robots. Even then, Raijin-Oh had managed to destroy six of the enemy Super Robots before succumbing to accumulated damage, allowing NERV to fend off the remaining two and retrieve what was left of Raijin-Oh. Apparently, some of Raijin-Oh's former adversaries took the demise of Class 5-3 poorly, and the last you heard, they were causing all kinds of trouble for the Council.

You wipe off your tears before looking out at the main space of the hiding place you had been sent to. Apparently, it had originally been established for the purpose of hiding battleships if necessary, which means it has more than enough space to house EVA-08, EVA-11 Beta, TRI-DENT, and your Arhans and the weapons for such.

You watch as a work crew puzzles over a blueprint of EVA-08, a forklift pushing a pallet of EVA parts retrieved from the Genesis Ark into a marked space beside it.

You sigh before leaving your room and going to meet the other DEVA pilots. There's still some animosity between you and them over the way you ultimately handled Frontier Setter, but given the circumstances, they have no choice but to cooperate with you.

Aboard the Ra Cailum

You sigh as you lean against a wall.

Spending so much time on the Nadesico seems to have spoiled you; aside from your time on the Archangel a while ago, you and the girls haven't really spent much time on a ship that didn't have some form of artificial gravity.

Thus, the girls had to acclimate to navigating a ship in microgravity, while you yourself rapidly relearned habits you picked up when you previously posted on the ship during the 2nd Neo-Zeon War.

As you look out a viewport, you hear someone approach from behind you.

You turn to see Zechs Merquise.

"You seem troubled, Lieutenant Ayana." He says.

"That obvious, huh?" You quip as you look back out the window.

The two of you stand in silence for a few moments before Zechs speaks up again.

"You can talk about what's troubling you with me, if you want. I'm no stranger to tragedy myself." He says.

You glance down.

What do you talk about with Zechs?

MISSION STATUS

The drydock where the Libra was being constructed has not responded to any attempts to communicate.
The drydock appears to not be powered at the moment, judging from the fact that all of its external lights are dark.

Available forces

The Rose
Wing Zero
Gundam Deathscythe
Gundam Heavyarms
Altron Gundam
Gundam Sandrock
Gundam Epyon
Noin's Razangriff Raven
Hilde's Randgrith Raven
Jegan x20
Stark Jegan x8
Serpent x10
The Ra Cailum

Pick THREE to investigate the interior of the drydock. They will be accompanied by 5 Jegans and 3 Serpents. Also pick Mira's copilot.

A/N: Apologies for the delay and short length. Please vote, discuss, and critique.

Thinking we send either The Rose or Sandrock (to serve as tank if we run into hostiles inside the Drydock), Deathscythe (a stealth unit would be useful for investigation) and Epyon (among those present for the mission, Zechs likely knows the layout of the drydock, since he's close enough to Treize that he'd likely be aware of more details of what was going on here). As for copilot... Lucia or Yukari.

Council really don't have any answer to Super type huh

just throw alot of bargain bin Super knock off at them and then bomb the Super from orbit till it die

A totally honest question about what the future awaits for us once the conflicts end and the council is finally done for, after all Mira has been a veteran for a good amount on the conflicts of this world while being on the frontlines for a good amount of the major events for stuff like CCA.

So someone would get somewhat doubtful that something else will not come out of the woodworks after a time of peace after all.

Either way I am fine with the deployments.

EX Scene: Double Date
April UE 0084
Shibuya, Tokyo

Shinji Ikari tugs his collar nervously as he waits for Asuka Langley Soryu.

After some cursory research into what Asuka demanded of him-A1 Wagyu steak-his heart soared in hope, for A1 was the cheapest, lowest quality of meat on the scale.

Alas, that hope had been dashed when Asuka asked Misato for clarity and realized that A5, not A1, was the highest quality of steak on the scale.

Oddly, when the man calling himself his father overheard Asuka's smug declarations, he had wordlessly handed Shinji a platinum credit card and shooed him out of his office.

Well, at least Toji and Hikari Horaki won't have to worry about chipping in...

Shinji looks over his reflection in a store window to assess his outfit. He'd eschewed his usual school uniform in favor of a blue collared short-sleeve shirt khaki shorts, both items that Aoi Hidaka helped pick out for him when they went shopping together so many months ago.

He sincerely hopes that Asuka won't ask where he got them.

Shinji's brought out of his thoughts by the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps, and turns to see Asuka in a lovely yellow sundress with what he's pretty sure are white designer heels on her feet.

"So, kept you waiting, didn't I?" Asuka says coyly, twirling around to show off to Shinji, who fights to avoid blushing.

"Like what you see?" Asuka says in a dangerously saccharine tone.

Shinij merely nods. Asuka chuckles.

"As a token of appreciation of your admiration, I will only order the second most expensive A5 wagyu dish on the menu." She says haughtily.

Shinji gives a dry chuckle.

"Hey, don't think you can just bully Ikari however you want!" Toji's voice calls out.

Shinji and Asuka turn to see Toji and Hikari walking up to them.

Asuka turns and glares at Shinji. Shinji raises his hands in a placating gesture. Hikari Horaki sighs.

"We all know how worked up you get when you talk to Ikari sometimes, Asuka. We're just here to make sure things don't get out of hand. Especially in such an expensive restaurant." She says, gesturing to the front of the restaurant.

The four of them briefly glance at the restaurant in question: Hyakkiyako Wagyu Steakhouse.

Asuka grumbles slightly before making a noise of assent, and the group enters the restaurant.

"Hey, Ikari, I know we said we'd split the cost, but this place seems really expensive. Like, five-star expensive." Toji whispers to Shinji.

"We won't have to worry about that. My father gave me a platinum card to cover this, for some reason..." Shinji whispers back.

Toji recoils in surprise.

"Thought your old man hated your guts. When has he ever given you anything aside from EVA-01?" He asks in hushed whispers.

"I guess he...sympathized with me this time? Only thing I can think of is that this reminds him of a similar situation with my mom, I guess...?" Shinji quietly speculates.

Toji shrugs as the hostess, a peppy young woman who calls herself Shizuko, leads them to a table.

True to her word, Asuka 'only' orders the second most expensive A5 Wagyu dish on the menu. Toji and Hikari Horaki order cheaper dishes, which still cost around 3500 Yen each. Shinji, in a rare moment of self-defined boldness, orders a more expensive dish, fueled by a desire to milk his father's platinum card for everything it's worth this evening.

Alas, Hikari and Toji can only keep Asuka in check for so long, and after their orders are taken, Asuka turns and gives Shinji a look.

"So, how did you come to know Aoi Hidaka, retired Formula One racer, fashion model, and, apparently, pilot of Dancouga Nova?" Asuka asks in a dangerously sweet tone.

"Well...one of the Solar Vanguard pilots...I think it was Mira Ayana? She said she wanted to introduce me to a friend of hers after I fought against Sachiel. We met in Ginza and she bought a bunch of clothes for me." Shinji recalls.

He realizes he phrased things poorly when he sees Toji and Hikari Horaki both wince.

"I see. Did she buy that for you too?" Asuka gestures to Shinji's shirt.

"...yes...?" Shinji squeaks, knowing that lying will only make things worse.

"Asuka, please stop grilling him." Hikari interjects. " I think it's a good thing that Shinji has such a kind and generous friend."

"Yeah. Way I saw it, she was just concerned for Shinji as a friend and nothing else. And who wouldn't be? We're younger than Amuro Ray was when he fell in the cockpit of the first Gundam!" Toji says.

Asuka grumbles, but doesn't press the issue.

"That...reminds me..." Hikari speaks up. "How is it...piloting an Evangelion?"

"I mean...it's tough, but you get used to it." Toji says.

"But...you said it yourself! You're all younger than Amuro Ray was when he first piloted the first Gundam! Why do you all have to be in such horrible danger?!" Hikari clings to Toji's side.

The three EVA pilots share a glance before Asuka speaks up.

"Look, nobody knows why the EVAs only work for us. Hell, even if they do, they sure as hell don't seem like they'd be inclined to tell us. But given that we have an opportunity to make a difference? I'm sure as hell taking it." She says.

"I know you're concerned, Horaki-san, but, well..." Shinji glances down at the table briefly, "you don't really know what we're going through because you're not there. You haven't experienced what it's like to be in the cockpit of an Evangelion facing down an Angel. In way, it's a relief that you're worried about us, but...you don't have to worry about it. Forgive my bluntness, but...it's not really your place."

"Hate to say it, but Ikari's right, Class Rep." Toji says, wrapping an arm around Hikari's shoulder. "You don't really have the...perspective to ask the right questions about this stuff."

Hikari makes a frustrated noise but does nothing else. Toji draws her in close and kisses her on the side of the head to placate her.

Thankfully, the rest of the evening passes by in a less somber manner, and the mood is considerably lighter when the four of them leave.

After waving goodbye to Toji and Hikari, Shinji and Asuka start heading back to Misato's apartment.

"Hey, Shinji..." Asuka speaks up.

"Yes, Soryu-san?" Shinji asks.

"Thanks for indulging me tonight." Asuka says before quickly leaning in and kissing Shinji on the cheek.

Shinji brings a hand to his cheek in surprise before turning to look at Asuka, who turns away, her face almost as red as her hair.

The two of them make the rest of the journey back to Misato's apartment in silence. Thankfully, only Pen-Pen is awake to witness the pair's state of embarrassment upon their return, and the penguin is very good at keeping secrets.

A/N: Observe as I continue to transform Shinji and Asuka's relationship into one of SRW's romantic comedies of all time. The name of the restaurant and the hostess are both a reference to Blue Archive.
