This... sounds a lot like 3G, given the talk of collapsing pocket dimensions and Jupiter, but I don't know of anyone who gets addressed as Big Sis in Gaogaigar. Possibly two different units?

Gonna be honest, it's just too vague to make a solid crack at. Doesn't help that this is SRW, so it could theoretically be anyone, because they have their own brand of dimensional bullshit.

Gunbuster, GGG, Diebuster, and a couple others are all things we know could end up in one canonically, but for all we know it's Xenoblade X or Sakura Wars.

To put a bit of speculation at ease, generally, I won't include things that a) aren't in the series list and b) haven't been included in a mainline SRW game, and I will only make an exception for a if I can extrapolate a logical reason (such as with Stella). So, sorry, don't expect anything from Zone of the Enders or Armored Core (AC VI looking kind of hype though).

I will say this much, however, you all are right about Noriko (obviously).

I'd recommend taking a closer look at the tone of the people who aren't Noriko. The 3G Super AIs don't really talk like that do they? Also, to give a hint, what series on the series list that hasn't made a formal appearance yet involves alternate/pocket dimensions at some point in the story?

And, @EvaUnit01 Interdimensional travel doesn't work like that. Remember the intro of when Stella appears?

Could be but the Dancouga team would all be older then Noriko by years so the form of address is weird.

Onee-sama isn't Noriko, it's Kasumi. Noriko calls Kasumi "Onee-sama", so Kasumi is the one who's unresponsive.

It's a Thing in Gunbuster, and later Diebuster.

I'm pretty sure this is Shinobu and Noriko talking over comms as their respective combined machines float through the dimensional void after they got beaten the fuck up.

Which, I'm guessing left the other side a whole lot worse off.

That's a possibility it's just not clear from the the update and the words our QM posted if Noriko is one of the people talking at least to me.

...Uh...

It's Noriko. They're a duo in a combiner mecha that one refers to the other as "Onee-Sama". Not many options there.

As for Dancouga, well the first voice is certainly in line with Shinobu...but more importantly, their final villain does a lot of eldritch dimensional fuckery.

I know who Noriko is and what she and her partner call each other and that the Gunbuster is partially a Combiner Mech it's just not clear to me from the update it's who is talking to whom and who exactly is so injured they can't or won't communicate.

Update to come later today.

I know who Noriko is and what she and her partner call each other and that the Gunbuster is partially a Combiner Mech it's just not clear to me from the update it's who is talking to whom and who exactly is so injured they can't or won't communicate.

...It's "Onee-sama" who has the odd vitals and isn't responding. The only one Noriko calls "Onee-sama" who could be in the Gunbuster with her is Kasumi.

So lemme see if i get this right, assuming Dancouga is the other machine.

Fucking hell, why does it feel like we've been going through this void for days? I thought it was supposed to be a few hours!" -Shinobu

"Pretty sure that's just your perception screwing with you, mission clock says it's only been two hours." Ryo, I think?

"Are we sure the time dilation that they were supposed to experience hasn't been leaking over?" Masato, I think?

"I'm pretty sure that's not how interdimensional travel works. Besides, I doubt time dilation would have any effect in the interdimensional void." Sara?

"Actually, how are you two doing anyway?" A Dancouga pilot

"I'm doing fine. I'm worried about Onee-sama though, her vitals have gotten a bit...weird, and she's not responding to my attempts to talk to her." Noriko, mentioning Kasumi

"Is there any way for you to physically go where her cockpit is to check on her?" Sara, I think?

"With how damaged our machine is, and the fact that we're in the interdimensional void, I don't think trying that is a good idea." Noriko

"Fair enough." Could be any Dancouga pilot

"Are you sure we'll emerge within orbit of Jupiter, and not, like, inside its atmosphere instead? I don't want us to get crushed to death after everything we've been through." Masato, maybe?

"Hey, trust the Samsara System, man, it got us out of that collapsing pocket dimension, didn't it?" Ryo or Shinobu

"I hate it when you're right." Masato.

I don't know the original Dancouga well at all.

Torrington Base

"IT'S THE GUNDAM SANDROCK! FALL BACK, FALL-BLAAAAGH!"

The transmission of a Dwadge pilot abruptly cuts off as the machine is bisected by the Gundam Sandrock's Heat Shotels.

A Desert Zaku pilot attempts to blindside the Sandrock, but is abruptly cored by a salvo of beam rounds from the Gundam Heavyarms.

"Don't be intimidated by them, we have experience and numbers on our side!" A Dom Tropen pilot yells. His mobile suit is promptly shot and destroyed by one of the Jestas of the Tri-Stars team.

"Keep pushing! They're on the brink of collapse!" Nigel, the leader of the Tri-Stars team says.

The Nemos that Torrington Base managed to finally scramble rally and advance, firing on the Zeon Remnant forces with aplomb.

The City Surrounding Torrington Base

You are Banagher Links, and you're currently trying to get Loni Garvey, the pilot of the enormous mobile armor Shamblo, to stand down. She's spent the entire battle torching the surrounding metropolis, and causing civilian casualties in...well, you don't want to speculate on such a morbid figure at the moment. In the corner of your eye, you see the Gundam Exia peeking out from behind the corner of a nearby convention center.

So far, your attempts to talk Loni have not been working.

"Shut your mouth! My mother and father died in the hunt for Zeon remnants! They were butchered without being allowed to surrender! I'm here because I'm devoting my life to finishing what my father started! Your precious BOX can stay shut! My hatred runs too deep for something like that to dispel it! So GET OUT OF MY WAY!" Loni rants.

One of the Shamblo's claws grabs the Unicorn and makes to throw you. As it winds up though, a salvo of grenades impacts the arm and forces the Shamblo to drop you.

"Banagher!" You hear a familiar voice.

"Ensign Riddhe!" You say in surprise as his Delta Plus grabs the Unicorn by the arm.

You are Setsuna F. Seiei, and as you listen to Banagher Links and Riddhe Marcenas debate whether or not it's possible to save Loni Garvey, you contemplate a potential plan of attack.

Your thoughts are interrupted when you see the Unicorn interpose itself a short distance from the Shamblo.

"Listen to me, Ms. Loni! Is this what you really want? Is this what the real you wants?! Ms. Loni!" Banagher implores.

"But this is all I have...I don't have anything else to live for." Loni replies mournfully.

"Then find something! It's too sad to live for nothing but hatred and anger." Banagher says.

"It's only human to be angered by injustice! People aren't gods!" Loni retorts.

"Even so, you have to stop this!" Banagher yells.

You double take when you realize that Banagher has opened the cockpit of the Unicorn, stepping out into the open air and removing his helmet.

"Are you crazy, Banagher?!" Riddhe yells.

Does Loni stand down?
DC 8

Roll 6

At first the Shamblo stops moving. In the distance, you see a series of explosions.

"Scratch that ZAKU I sniper!" Watts, a member of the Tri-Stars team woots.

The Shamblo jerks back to life, and you swear its movements are more...feral.

The Unicorn Gundam, sensing a threat to its pilot, closes the cockpit hatch.

"You can't fight reality." Riddhe says sadly.

Riddhe fires a round from his beam rifle at the Shamblo, only for its reflector bits to redirect it and almost cause it to hit the Unicorn.

"I...I want to stop her. I have to stop her! UNICORN!" Banagher says.

The Unicorn goes into NT-D mode, psychoframe parts glowing red as they unfold and the horn splits into a V-fin.

You are Banagher Links, and as the psychofields of the Unicorn and Shamblo clash, you struggle to think of something to say to her. Riddhe fires a few beam rounds at the Shamblo, only to be forced to dodge his own rounds as the reflector bits send them back at his Delta Plus.

"Don't interfere!" Loni yells as she fires the Shamblo's beam cannons. The Unicorn's I-Fields protect it from the ensuing salvo of beams, but even as they curve around you, the surrounding city is devastated.

With the power of the Unicorn's Psychoframe and your own newtype abilities, you attempt to psychically reach out to Loni.

Does Banagher manage to get Loni to stand down?
DC 14

You manage to appeal to Loni with your newtype abilities, only to be forced out by a malicious figure.

"NO! Don't let it consume you, Ms. Loni!" You yell in futility.

"Damn it Banagher, get on! She's too far gone now!" Riddhe yells.

As the Unicorn clambers atop the Delta Plus, which is in waverider mode, someone makes contact with you.

"I think I may be able to disable the Shamblo." A distorted voice says.

"Who the hell are you?!" Riddhe exclaims.

"The pilot of the Gundam Exia." The voice replies in a surprisingly cordial tone.

"And why the hell should we work with Celestial Being?!" Riddhe yells, in anger or frustration, you can't tell.

"We both want the same thing. If my plan fails, you already have the means to destroy the Shamblo." The pilot of the Exia says.

"Riddhe...please, if there's any chance that we can save Ms. Loni..." You say sadly. You hear Riddhe scoff.

"Fine. We'll try it your way. But if it doesn't work, I'll take the Beam Magnum from you and take the shot myself!" Riddhe says.

"Excellent. The two of you only need to distract the Shamblo. Go in on my signal." The pilot of the Exia says.

Sieg Zeon, Sieg Zeon, Seig Zeon, SIEG ZEON! You hear Loni's current thoughts through your newtype abilities.

"Whatever you have planned, please hurry, Exia! I don't think Ms. Loni's mind is going to stay intact for much longer!" You implore.

"We have less time than anticipated then. Go now!" The pilot of the Exia urges.

You and Riddhe charge, Riddhe firing his Delta Plus' beam rifle while you fire 3 beam gatlings, one held in the Unicorn's right hand, two built into its shield, all given to you by the crew of the Garancieres. As expected, all of the rounds are deflected away from the main body of the Shamblo by it beam reflector bits.

The Shamblo responds by unfurling a beam cannon built into its head and firing it at the two of you. Riddhe curses before pulling the Delta plus into a sharp turn, barely managing to avoid the massive beam. As you endure the resulting Gs, you're glad that for once, the Shamblo didn't hit the surrounding city. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot the Exia cautiously inching forward on the Shamblo's right flank.

You are Loni Garvey, and your mind is not wholly your own at the moment.

"Sieg Zeon, Sieg Zeon, SIEG ZEON!" You mindlessly repeat over and over.

You spot a new contact on your right flank. One of Celestial Being's Gundams? You could care less about them, ending war won't dispel your hatred or bring back your family. Before you can move to attack it though, another salvo of beam rounds from the split-horn and its companion force you to move the reflector bits to shield the Shamblo from them.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" You scream as the Shamblo's psycommu urges you to destroy everything in sight.

As the Shamblo readies its head-mounted beam cannon again, you feel an inexplicably calming presence.

"Kirks...?" You say tearfully.

Loni, our war is over. Kirks voice rings in your mind.

You break down in tears.

You are Banagher Links, and you don't like what you're seeing.

"Exia, we're out of time!" You say.

"Understood. Initiating Trans-Am!" The Exia pilot says.

Exia attempts to disable the Shamblo
DC 36

Roll 8
8 + 6 + 3 + 2 - 2 = 17*3 = 51
Result: Setsuna is able to utterly dismantle the Shamblo, damaging its psycho-frame in the process, restoring Loni's mind

As the Exia begins to glow red, you hear Loni's voice in your mind.

Banagher...isn't it sad?

"Oh shit!" Riddhe curses as he pulls the Delta Plus up in a steep ascent in an attempt to avoid the Shamblo's beam.

As the Shamblo fires its head-mounted beam cannon, its beam reflector bits interpose themselves ahead of it at the same time, effectively neutralizing the beam.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKw9hgzncZw

A blur of red passes by the Shamblo's neck, and a second later, it's decapitated. Another pass of the red blur, and one of the Shamblo's claw arms is severed at the joint. You realize that red blur is the Exia, moving incredibly fast and leaving afterimages in its wake. It's drawn a pair of beam sabers, and is hacking away at the Shamblo's most obvious weapons and means of locomotion in an attempt to disable it. The Shamblo fires its scattering beam cannons in an attempt to force the Exia away, but what few hit are deflected around it by a glowing red spherical barrier that appears around it.

After what seems like an eternity (likely because the Shamblo's sheer bulk) but is more likely only around 1-2 minutes, the Shamblo slumps over, effectively mission-killed. For good measure, the Exia slashes a gouge above the Shamblo's cockpit, and the malicious presence you've been feeling disappears. The Exia stops glowing red as it lands on the ground.

You sigh in relief before opening a channel with the Exia.

"Thank you." You say.

Before the pilot of the Exia can respond, a new contact appears. You, Riddhe, and the pilot of the Exia glance up.

"A...black Unicorn?!" You say in alarm.

The Exia immediately moves to flee, and the last thing you see before you pass out from an impact to the cockpit is the black Unicorn unfurling a massive claw.

A/N: You know those times when you lie down, only intending to take a quick, 30 minute nap, and instead conk out for like 3 hours? Blame that for the reason this update didn't happen earlier in the afternoon. Anyway, please discuss and critique!

Well good news Loni got saved thanks to Setsuna after Banagher failure on diplomacy, even better her mind got restored from the psycomu mind wammy

Bad news the Banshee is now part of that playing pieces.

Well, I think picking our Aces was a good choice here.

Now we just have to save Marida!

... Oh...we have to...try and save Marida...

Oh..

More seriously, I am half-hoping, half-begging for a ZZ interrupt. Whether that be Judau or one of the Ple, I really want her to be saved.

And hey, we saved one who was fated to die so far, so it can't be too much to hope for...

R-right?

Marida's dying later, so now isn't the time where we can save her (unless we trash the Banshee hard enough that it can't be turned into the Banshee Norn, which is very unlikely, even with Exia still having 1 round before its Trans-Am turns off). And we got a slight hint on Banagher's statline (mostly in the sense that his Newtype level is 4, on par with Judau and Kamille).
Also, if we ever do get the opportunity to do so, we really should get the "Incorporating things from the knockoff E-Carbon" research that resulted from the analysis of the Council salvage we've obtained during the Crisis at Eterna mission, because we've been using CB units quite often and they've been of great help, so they could use the boost and the earlier access to their S2 units.

October UE 0083
Crown Plaza Hotel, Tokyo

You are Yukari Tsukiumi, and you're trying to figure out where to start in investigating the current relationship between Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Sohryu.

What would have been a simple, if tedious task has been rendered more complicated by recent revelations regarding the existence of the conspiracy known only as SEELE, in addition to the fact that Gendo Ikari is a wildcard in all of this.

You sigh before running your tongue over your lips, reminiscing about the parting kiss Nina gave you before you came down to Earth.

You slap your own cheeks to clear your head.

Now's not the the time to be horny! I need to figure out where to start!

At least you're in a good hotel. You'd actually asked if it was okay to spend so much money on your accommodations, and an OZ accountant explained to you that with the ongoing dispute with Nergal Heavy Industries, a lot of the budget's currently up in the air, so the Solar Vanguard is filching whatever money it can from Nergal for minor things, as spending those funds on big ticket items like research and development or mass manufacturing runs are out of the question at the moment.

Well, I'm not complaining. You think to yourself as you grab a soda from the room's minifridge.

Who does Yukari go to first in her investigation? (Pick TWO, Shinji and Asuka cannot be picked together, and neither can Misato with Kaji)

[ ] Shinji

[ ] Asuka

[ ] Rei

[ ] Misato

[ ] Kaji

[ ] Shinji's classmates (Toji, Kensuke, and Hikari)

A/N: I realize this might seem really jarring to transition from Gundam Unicorn stuff to this, but I figured we needed a change of pace. Don't worry, the aftermath of the Gundam Unicorn stuff will be addressed at the end of the turn. Please vote, discuss, and critique!

[X] Asuka

[X] Rei

I see no way that bringing both members of Shinji's harem together to talk about their relationship with the boy could possibly go wrong. And I am definitely not looking forwards to the fireworks.

I post in the afternoon on the weekend for the first time in a while, and only three votes? I know more than three of you have read the update. Why hasn't there been more discussion?

I forgor to vote.

[X] Asuka

[X] Misato

I vote "Disaster".

EDIT: Actually, let's talk to Misato and Asuka. Make friends with Shinji's closest ally, try and blunt Asuka's...Asukaness towards Shinji. Also, you know, make actual contact with her.

I really wish we could pick three, I'd love to talk to the classmates to get a more objective opinion on their relations.

I would have preferred we finished the Unicorn mission first before jumping into a new event. Also, late to the voting because update dropped around the time where I was getting ready to head to bed (10 pm, to be more specific).

[X] Kaji

[X] Shinji's classmates (Toji, Kensuke, and Hikari)

Kaji was chosen so that we can start making inroads getting someone who could potentially spy on SEELE for us so that we have actual information on them aside from what we got from the DAG. The classmates are there for us to see how the relation between Shinji and Asuka is going and what would need fixing (Misato is a no go since I went for Kaji, otherwise it would have been her).

I remain an indecisive pile of ideas. We've got a lot of options for potential hilarity, disaster, de-escalation, and hilarious disaster.

[X] Rei

[X] Misato

What could possibly go wrong.

As I've said earlier, we really should take Kaji as one of our investigation picks here. Improving Shinji's mental state is all well and good, but SEELE could very well try and sabotage our efforts on that front, hence we need someone who can keep an eye on them and that's where Kaji can be of use to us, but we first need to get him on our side and do that we need to get in contact with him.
Also, given the following quote, for next turn we may need to reserve an action in order to ride herd on Akatsuki Nagare and make sure that he and Nergal can't stab us in the back (or in case he tries, he's at significant risk of suffering problematic enough losses to make him reconsider his decision; we may have ways to secure our funding from other sources, but it would be best to ensure the founding member that serves as part of our funding doesn't betray us)
You'd actually asked if it was okay to spend so much money on your accommodations, and an OZ accountant explained to you that with the ongoing dispute with Nergal Heavy Industries, a lot of the budget's currently up in the air, so the Solar Vanguard is filching whatever money it can from Nergal for minor things, as spending those funds on big ticket items like research and development or mass manufacturing runs are out of the question at the moment.
