Here's something I just realized. With Self-Transformation and material extraction we should be able to gain the ability to make things only our summons could make. Like say a Harry Potter wand.

?

How so, I figure we would have a better chance with Self-Modification + Material Extraction?
Self transformation gives us all powers and abilities of the creature in question thus if a creature could nominally making something out of a creature, that we personally couldn't, material extraction with it should help guarantee we can do it. As it gives the skills needed for the creation of the item.

For the specific target of Harry Potter magic which we need for a Harry Potter wand only the house-elf has access to it. There is no appropriate template for that goal.

I feel like the DnD Tree might do a better job at making us an elf, or at the very least giving us harvestable parts. We just have to endure the pain of getting some heart tendons pulled out.
Self-Transformation into house-elf does make us a house elf which is the key piece missing for us not being able to make a Harry Potter wand.

Alright, but wouldn't we need to roll for a dragon, phoenix or unicorn from the Harry Potter tree, and then roll for Self-Transformation? I can't imagine we would be able to cheese it without explicit mentioned Wand Core sources.

Well Floramon is a data type digimon. Data type Digimon adapt to the environment they live in. I wonder how would that play with animal senses. Like having adaptable enhanced senses based on his environment/situation.

I think that for Digimon I will choose senses on a case-by-case basis. Mostly based on their type and power. For Floramon I briefly thought about the ability to detect pollen in the air, because her attacks use pollen. But I don't really see how it could be useful.

Since the translation is the method by which the babel fish feeds its senses should manifest as tasting someone's words or psychic output

Edit: since the translation of words in themselves is the product of said digestion the sense shouldn't translate language and instead be able to taste the general state of a statement like a low grade gallant

An excellent idea, putting the ability to detect creature able to speak as a taste work great. Thanks.

Okay, I don't know how you reach that conclusion but no it doesn't work like that in my CM.
If you use Self-transformation to change into a house-elf you gain house-elf magic and you don't need a wand. And no, an average house-elf possesses does not know how to craft wands. It's a highly specific skill it not just putting a magical material into a piece of wood.
Second Material extraction does not work like that either, it gives you the ability to summon one or more items for each creature you possess and the knowledge either to use those items or to craft them in something else. If we could extract a house-elf heartstring we wouldn't gain the knowledge on how to use it for a wand.
And finally, even if we somehow find a way to craft a wand (and it won't happen) our hero does not possess harry potter magic and the CM% does not contain any means to gain it.
You can gain Elemental Bending, Blue magic, Card captor sakura magic, a few spell-like abilities from D&D template, Dragon Shout, and a few others.
The only thing that comes close is the Patronus and the animagus power.

I'm sorry if I appear hostile but this sudden fascination with wands has nothing to do with the quest. You are among those that help me the most with the CM and the quest before, and I thank you for that. I hope you will continue but please let that topic rest.

The wand was never for us. It's for the house-elf. House-elves can use wands.

Okay, I didn't understand that part, I'm sorry.
I still won't change my stance on the crafting wand part.
But I can do one thing if we get Summon x3, Summon x7, or Summong 3/day. We could give the house-elf his own wand and for him (and only him), it will be able to amplify its magic.
Feel free to remind me of that if I forgot about it.

as far as i understand it, wand making is closer to a ritualistic crafting artform which goes deeply into arithmancy.
that means that we don't have the skills or mindset to even arrive at the building blocks to making wands.

There is a matter of debate there. The skills would be provided by the material extraction, and by a hypothetical house-elf transformation. Mindset? That's another matter entirely one which I actually can not find anything about and the only evidence one way or another being a wizard must make the wand being a house-elf Grant's that.

Now the overall justification of doing so? None it is a subpar option as it only buffs one creature and requires multiple other skills and specific creatures to actually make it possible in the first place. The best aspect of it is the fact it's a synergy one that Zagan has said no to but synergies themselves are intrinsically good to at least theorize about.

when i was talking about mindset, i was referring to our character's understanding of how the acquired power and summoned creatures work, which are likely closer to assuming that it's just power shenanigans which mostly wouldn't be far off it's mark with how some worlds work and how powers are understood on Earth Bet.
as for the skills, rituals are heavily influenced by conceptual relations between action and reaction, materials would be available but most likely wouldn't have the same magical weight as they would have if gathered at a specific time or with specific tools and procedures.
arithmancy is also called the magic of numbers, dealing with the concepts commonly attached to specific numbers, like 7 being a number related to good luck and success, while 13 is on for misfortune.

our character would have to reverse engineer from first principle which materials make the best wand materials and cores along with the very rules governing how harry potter's magic works, something that right now our character simply doesn't have the time or context to even realize exists as anything other than power shenanigans.

As established if we were given the material we would know what we'd need to make the item related to the material in question. All it would take would be extracting material during the time we are a house-elf.

that only applies to the materials we get from directly extracting materials from the summon themselves, most of which have limited things you can get and what they can be used for as far as those powers tell our character.

Yes precisely why the second Zagan noped it it was nipped in the bud. Since all wand materials are only used as wand material in the first place it doesn't matter.

Dauntless was the first one to respond. "Very well, thank you for your consideration. Now if you do not have any other business with us we need to get going. We have a patrol to finish."

The majority of the gang members laugh at that, mocking him for his cowardice. But I could respect Dauntless's choice he didn't want to be the one to escalate the situation. And he was probably trying to gain time.

Krieg seems to mull over these words and while he is doing that I activate my new enhanced senses one by one. I wasn't sure if they would end up being useful but it cost me nothing. I expected to be disoriented by those new senses, but my power appears to provide seamless integration with my normal senses, even if I didn't understand them all.

With all those enhanced senses, I'll be able to better detect ambushes such as this one. In fact, from now on, I will probably leave them active all the time. I should have done so from the start.

While I was distracted Krieg responded. "Not yet, Her Dauntless, we have a message to send and for that, we need Her Compendium here."

Before I could respond I heard Miss Militia's voice in my ear. "Compendium, Armsmaster is on the way, you need to stall them."

I tried to not react outwardly and focused on Krieg.

"I'm listening but I think our philosophies are too different for me to be receptive to any message you may have."

He laughed and I could see Alabaster and Crusader smiling. Their reaction put me on edge, apparently, I said something funny.

"Nein, Nein, Her Compendium. The message is not for you. The message is for those like you, the right sort of people, that choose to not join us. They need to understand that joining the Protectorate is not the right choice and what the consequences are in that case."

I know he was leading me toward something but we still need to gain time. I glance at Dauntless and he nods fractionally. "Very well I'll play your game. What consequences are you talking about?"

Most of the gang members start snickering.

"No game Her Compendium, simply logical consequence. If someone made the wrong choice they need to be punished. We will simply break both your arms and legs, this should be enough to send the right message. Of course, should you resist, we'll break your spine too."

He said all that with a perfectly even tone as if he was talking about the weather. It was chilling and apparently, he wasn't finished.

"Of course, if you change your mind and join our cause right now, I'm sure that Kaiser will be willing to forgive you, eventually"

Hearing that, a smart-ass remark immediately came to mind, I knew that angering them wouldn't really help but I doubt it could make things much worse. "You know when I first got my power, I spent a lot of time debating on what I should do. Your gangs did come to mind but when I asked my Black Jewish boyfriend, he said that it would be a bad idea."

The sarcasm was thick in my voice and Krieg didn't miss it.

"Very well, seeing that our generous proposition isn't enough for you. This discussion is finished. Crusader takes care of him while we distract Dauntless. Let's see who has the best Projections." He throws a sneer at Thorne and runs toward the armored hero at my side. Alabaster followed him brandishing a gun. And Crusader rises in the air.

The gang members revealed weapons too, mostly knives and bats but also a few guns.

"Get behind me." I tried to follow Dauntless's advice while Thorn started casting haste on me.

But before I could reach him and start summoning, a ghost came out of the ground and nearly speared me. I backpedaled quickly and thankfully Thorne's spell took effect at that moment.

With reflex enhanced and no way to hide behind Dauntless's back, I decided to go on the offensive. The gang members were just observing the situation, for now, confident in their cape's superiority.

So the first thing I did was summoned Floramon at the back of the group standing behind Krieg. I was sure that she'll know what to do. I didn't pause to look at her actions. I didn't have time, so I turned around and summoned Scalpa behind the other group of gang members.

"Deal with these guys!"

That done I focussed on the ghost chasing me, with haste I was able to stay ahead of it but a mount would be even better. White would be too slow, Raptor it was. And applied the clockwork transformation, I summoned it right behind me and immediately jumped on it.

With a twitch of muscles, I ordered him to jump away and I heard someone shouting.

"He's getting away, stop him"

I didn't recognize the voice but looking up I could see Crusader pointing at me, his ghost was still behind me but it wasn't faster than my mount. On the other hand, his shout attracts the attention of two nearby gang members, they couldn't be more typical nazi if they tried. Shaved head with tattoo and wearing leather jackets covered in spikes. They approached wielding a big knife and a bat respectively. They tried to look menacing, but I could see, particularly by zooming on their face, that they were shaken.

I could understand why, with a glance, I could see that three other guys were covered in slime and unable to get up, a fourth was being chased by Scalpa, and on the other side, the last six were walking around aimlessly. Floramon's pollen was proving to be very effective, and she was in the process of using her ivy on each of them. Good girl. And finally, I was mounted on a robot dinosaur.

So yes their hesitation was understandable and was a great boost to my confidence. Confidence that was immediately shattered when a second ghost coming from above nearly pierced my side. I only avoid it with a combination of hastened reflex, enhanced senses, and Raptor's own reflex. I move away from the now two ghosts.

Right, it wasn't the time to be distracted. This near-miss seems to embolden the two Nazis and they were coming closer.

"Don't be scared dyke, like the boss said we'll just break you."

I choose to not respond verbally and after positioning Raptor correctly I order him to use his Flashbang attack while closing my own eyes.

The two thugs go down screaming and clawing their eyes. I wince a little in sympathy but not too much, they just insulted and threatened me after all. The two ghosts were bearing on me, seeing that one was behind the other I got an idea. I made Raptor raise his head slightly and fire his laser. It goes through the first one and retains enough energy to also strike the second one, destroying both.

Now that I had some time to look at the battlefield I could see that things were going well for us. All the gang members were down, Floramon was finishing with her side and Scalpa was dragging the last one in our direction.

Dauntless was visibly hasted, but Krieg was preventing him from flying and each time he charged his Arclance Alabaster put himself in the way. You can say what you want about the nazi but they do have some good teamwork. And when Krieg tried to use those opportunities to attack, Dauntless used his shield to fend him off. It was a stalemate and I think it was mostly because Dauntless didn't want to do too much damage to the street.

It was at this point I remembered the wand in my pocket and cursed myself for my stupidity. I grabbed it and tried using it to bring Crusader down.

It worked for a second but he called on more ghosts to support himself and was able to resist the effect. I tried to slam him into a building, but it didn't work any better. And also on the ghosts themselves but it didn't work at all. Looking around I didn't see any debris that could send and I didn't want to throw people's cars or street furniture. I'll need to get closer, focusing on the creature I had left, I tried to see what option remained without going lethal. And a possibility occurred to me.

"Console, permission to deploy an untested Projection."

Missi Militia responds after a brief delay, while Crusader deployed five more ghosts. "What can you tell me about it?"

"Big gorilla with wings."

"Power?"

"None that I can feel."

Another delay, while I had Raptor firing once more to get rid of a ghost and jumping on a car to avoid a charge by another one. Sorry, car's proprietor. I hope you're insured.

"Granted, be careful. Armsmaster is closing on your position ETA, two minutes."

Great, I had a plan then, I directed Raptor to zigzag away from the ghost still chasing me. Idly I was wondering how many he could use at the same time. I got a briefing detailing what was known about the power of every villain in town but that particular point was never mentioned.

When I reached the center of the street I summoned my new Projection right next to me. He was quite a bit bigger than I thought, but I didn't have time to admire him. I jumped on his back immediately, for some unexplainable reason he came already equipped with a sort of harness. "Sorry big guy, no time to introduce myself. Our target is this guy. You'll help me?"
His only response was a grunt but with a powerful flap of his wings, he jumped in the air.

The feeling of flying was awesome and I resisted the urge to laugh, it wasn't the time. I shouted as loudly as I could. "Floramon, Scalpa go help Dauntless. Thorne haste on our new friend, Raptor laser on any ghost you see."

As we rose in the air to reach Crusader, I brandished my wand. And I mentally decided that my mount would be called Red because I have no imagination and because calling him my mount all the time wasn't practical.

"Krieg, I'm having some trouble there." Hearing Crusader beginning to panic was a balm for my soul.

Krieg didn't respond because he was probably busy. A gunshot rang out and I briefly looked down. Alabaster fired in Scalpa's direction, fortunately, I didn't spot any damage.

Refocussing and guiding Red with my knee we pursued the fleeing Crusader. He was moving higher and sending multiple ghosts in our way. Thankfully we were faster, and even more so once haste from Thorne took effect and we managed to avoid most of them. A few spear strikes manage to hit Red, but it seems to be superficial. Red made good use of his fist on the ghosts too, it didn't appear to damage them but each hit launched them away, sometimes through buildings. Meanwhile, I was still using my wand to slow Crusader down.

Finally, we got close enough and I managed to use enough power with the wand that Crusader was forced to use all his ghosts just to remain in the air. "Red grab him."

Red did so immediately seizing one arm in each of his giant's hands. His wings flapped faster to remain stationary.

"Surrender Crusader, you lost." My voice managed to remain firm despite all the adrenaline coursing in my veins.

"He's right, surrender, you don't have any more options."

Turning my head to the right I spot Dauntless flying to my side. I looked down, curious about what happened. Alabaster was swimming in a big pool of slime, unable to do anything. And Krieg was covered in Floramon's poison ivy. I smiled, good work guys. At the same time, we all heard the signature sound of Armsmaster's bike.

All that combined stole all of Crusader's defiance and he gave up.

A few minutes later we found ourselves on the ground. The police sirens were getting closer.
Dauntless showed me how to use manacles by demonstrating with Crusaders. My boss was keeping an eye on the unconscious Krieg and Alabaster, still unable to get out of the slime.

All my creatures were there around me, on lookout duty.

Floramon came closer and looked up at me. "Did I do good?"

She seemed hesitant so I tried to reassure her. "You did great, I didn't have to tell you anything. You immediately understood what needed to be done and did it perfectly. I'm proud of you."

"Ah, of course, you are, I'm the best after all." She looked at her feet bashfully and I could see her blushing.

I spoke up. "You all did great for this first fight. Excellent work all of you."

All the ones smart enough to understand me, smile at the praise. It was time to go back to base, probably for a long debrief.

No story vote this time.
The biggest chapter so far and by quite a bit.

So my first combat scene, I hope I did alright. I took my time to polish it as best as I could. I'm afraid that I made Compendium too competent for his very first fight, but I had a hard time having him make a mistake.
I didn't show much of Dauntless, Floramon, and Scalpa's fight but our hero had other preoccupations.
I also hope that I manage to portray the villain's power right.

-Krieg got a short-range kinetic manipulation field and that's how he negates Dauntless flight
-Crusader's ghosts are described as being immune to physical attack, and intangible only toward inanimate objects but able to interact with living creatures. So being destroyed by a laser should work.

With the extra-large chapter we gained 200 points at the same time, so choose one option:

[] One Creature roll with 450 points

[] One Power roll with 450 points

[] One Creature roll with 350 points and a second Creature roll with any leftover plus 100 point

[] One Creature roll with 350 points and a Power roll with any leftover plus 100 point

[] One Power roll with 350 points and a second Power roll with any leftover plus 100 point

[] One Power roll with 350 points and a Creature roll with any leftover plus 100 point

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I want to propose another bounty. If you write a PHO interlude with a reaction to the press conference or the fight, at least 1000 words long. Either separately or in the same interlude but I prefer separate. You can choose any one 100 points creature, and yes if you write both you gain two creatures.
I expected a minimum amount of quality but otherwise go wild.
One thing to consider is that very few creatures from the CM can be recognized as coming from a fictional universe because the majority of those come from after Scion's arrival. Equivalent fiction exists, such as Medabot instead of Pokemon, Errica Lance at Valkyrie school instead of Harry Potter, etc. Only the oldest ones such as some from Mario or Zelda could be recognized. For the purpose of a PHO interlude, nobody will recognize Floramon as a Digimon or Cactuar from FF.

A few points that could be interesting to explore, but by no mean mandatory:
-Power spéculation
-Why did he only use Plant transformation and didn't show any projection during the conference.
-Shipping
-Commentary on the fight (assume that video footage exist from the fight from start to finish)
-Analyze for each Projection show. (Remember only Thorne, Floramon, Scalpa, Raptor, Goliath, and perhaps Spider bot if someone spots him, were present.)
-Commentary on the wand that he wields.
-E88 réaction
-Or anything else you can think of.

I'm in no hurry so take your time to write something good.

Woot! Combat went well and hehehe nabbing 3 E88 capes being stupid will help things. I do wonder if with Dauntless, Armsmaster, Miss Militia and ourselves if we could go on the offensive against the gangs. As it is we are proving to be an upgrade (and just think about how nice Thorne is for boosting the other heroes, like I want to see Armsmaster with haste).

[X] One Creature roll with 450 points

Big creature attempt because a 400 point summon is very nice.

So if I write two omakes I can choose 2 100 point creatures alright then. I'll see about writing them, also I'll need to actually jot down a table for all of the 100 point creatures. See which ones are any good there should be a couple.

Ah, like Harley Quinn with Poison Ivy.

A gunshot rang out and I briefly looked down. Alabaster fired in Scalpa's direction, fortunately, I didn't spot any damage.
A worrying escalation, but a fine one. There's no better projection to tank this first blow then Scalpa.

Floramon came closer and looked up at me. "Did I do good?"
Aw, you sure did sweetheart.
Did you guys think Armsmaster will be fine?
