Noooooo... buuuuuuut the same could be said for hunting a grizzly bear with nothing but a rope and a 4 ft. rope.
So theoretically it could give ideas for what he needs and start the prep work to bring one down. Isn't the preparation the most important part of any action?
True, though I guess if Zoologist and the other title powers haven't spoiled what the Terror Drones are( by Solar's Species) then Hunter will surely set him on the path. Even if all Hunter returns are error messages or 'Try Again, When this Swole.'
Wait doesn't Alex have Zoologist already, and wouldn't he know about Hug being the son of the Crimson King, or does the power not give any context on what that means?
SCP's come with their respective reports, I know that, but Zoologist gives insight into the creatures history's right?

That's mainly because I, the author, do not know that. My only source of information is the SCP report, which doesn't mention that at all.
While I have seen a video about SCP 999 that mention that part, I don't know where those informations come from and how canon it is.
Frankly, I don't want to waste time searching for the lore behind SCP 999, for me, it's a gelatinous creature that emits anti-depressant pheromone and that like sugar. That's all.

Don't fret, that information is not really relevant to Hugs use in the story, just very concerning on how Hug goes about curing depression is all. The Crimson King is one of those SCP's that would make Scion think twice about fighting it is why we're in a tizzy over it.

Side note: Some may notice that I renamed the Ark Attack Drone from Drone to Hover, it was getting confusing with the Snitch that was also named Drone.

Urgently I searched for a solution, I considered all my partners, all my power, and multiple combinations of the two. Racking my brain for any kind of possibility. Some were quickly discarded, some were seriously considered, and some were just ridiculous.
And then I hit upon an unorthodox idea, but it may just be the safest option at my disposal. It would be magically costly but I was sure that it would work.
I would have liked to communicate my plan to the teenage heroes inside but doing so discreetly may be difficult and would take too long. The fact that I didn't know the identity of the Wards didn't help.
With no time to lose, I summoned Hug right in front of me and was immediately engulfed by the cheerful creature.
Once the initial wave of euphoria subsided I spoke up. "Yes, yes, I'm happy to see you and I'm sure you're happy to be in the real world but we're in a hurry." Hug wobbled in place seemingly confused, but I saw it extend a pseudopod toward a returning Thorne and grab him. I did nothing to prevent it, having someone to hug seemed to reassure it.
"I need your help. Inside that building-" I pointed to the school; "-children have been taken hostage." That provoked an immediate reaction, it straightened into a cone shape, clearly showing its indignation.
"You are the key in my plan to free them." At that it starts to vibrate, shaking up and down the still held Thorne.
"Glad to see your enthusiasm." I proceed to explain my plan to him, in particular, the need to act fast and to immobilize the ones wielding weapons.
Once he was brief, and after he released Thorne, it was time to begin. I ordered my Cactuar to guard the door with Automatron. Pegase was grazing nearby. Hover was flying above the entrance keeping an eye around.
Clank handed me Bruce's weapon shape, and I immediately triggered the Rest Room effect, we would need to remain hidden until the last moment. I manifest my scepter in my other hand. Hug grabbed me with multiple pseudopods. Once I was sure that everything was ready I nodded to Olky.
A blink later we all reappeared in the middle of Arcadia's cafeteria, near Glory Girl's table. While I trusted Bruce's power I still held my breath and looked around us nervously checking if we were discovered. No reaction from anyone, the students were still sitting nervously and the Empire members were still strutting around as if they owned the place.
Taking a deep breath I got ready to start. Hug was quivering in excitement at the prospect of hugging that many people at once. I hung my Leiomano to my waist and summoned The Big. Delicately I laid the card directly on the surface of Hug, the direct contact would make it easier for the card to take effect. I brandished my scepter and focused on my magic with a shout the tip of the scepter made contact with the card. "BIG!!!!!" All my Minds focused on keeping the right image in my head, enlarging Hug so it covers the whole room, and doing so as fast as possible.
I felt my magic being drained fast while Hug swell in size. When its gelatinous body broke out of the Rest Room effect in a wave everyone present reacted with surprise. The Empire's members tried to turn their weapons in our direction but they didn't have enough time and were engulfed like everyone else.
The reaction of those present didn't vary much, panic at first, and then it was rapidly replaced with laughter and relaxation when Hug grabbed them. On my part, the feeling of having my magical reserve near dry wasn't very pleasant, a sort of ache in my chest, to alleviate that I drain a little from Thorne and Olky, just enough to alleviate this sensation while Flare started refilling my reserve too.
The scene in the cafeteria was surrealist. The ground was covered by Hug orange slime body a meter high with pseudopods grabbing everyone. The people themselves filled the room with laughter.
Satisfied that there was no problem, I hurried to secure the gang members, using Unhindered Movement to move freely. Clank confiscated their weapon in his expanded inventory while Olky and I used lots of handcuffs, also courtesy of Clank, to bind them.
While I was doing that the Menagerie woke up and gift me with a new skill, namely I became a hunter. And it was much more extensive than I expected, obviously, it included tracking prey, laying traps, using hunting weapons, skills to move discreetly, and techniques to kill or capture an animal. But also fishing of all sorts, pest extermination, skinning, and a little bit of taxidermy. It also possessed some overlap with my trainer skill because it covers hunting with animals, like hunting dogs, or falconry.
Not the most immediately useful skill but it could come in handy to track criminals.
Just before I finished securing the last gang member we all heard gunfires followed by muffled explosions coming from outside. And most importantly I felt Thorne, Automatron, and Hover wink out of my perception and reappeared in my soul. Something just killed three of my partners!
"Clank stay here and keep an eye on the situation. Olky we're going!"
My house elf was quick to grab my hand and we found ourselves near the entrance of Arcadia once again. I looked everywhere but the assailants were already gone, no trace of them anywhere. What I found was much worse, Pegase was lying on the grass which he was grazing just a few minutes earlier. Despite his armor, a hideous wound opened his flank, revealing his beating heart to the sky, his ribs were in pieces, shards of bones everywhere, his right-wing was crumpled on the ground, and blood was everywhere. It would have been enough to make me sick but the worst thing was the pitiful whining he was emitting.
"Pegase! Oh, Gods!"
I crouched by his side and he tried to nuzzle my hand.
"No, don't move!"
I desperately searched for a solution, I knew he could be healed, he already started by drawing health from Solar. But it would take too long and even healing magic would have a hard time dealing with that. It was possible but he would suffer the whole time.
I patted his head. "Rest my friend you earned it." I dismissed him and he disappeared leaving no trace of the gruesome spectacle. No blood, nothing to remind people of what happened here, just scuffle on the grass.
I got up slowly, my expression was thunderous and only revenge was on my mind. My fists were clenching reflexively, drawing blood from my palm. I looked around searching for witnesses but found no one. The street was empty and if people heard the gunfire here they certainly fled. The only trace of the attack being craters on the wall, the work of the Tinkertech attachment we found last time no doubt. My newfound hunter knowledge helped me spot tire tracks and I could smell gunpowder but not much else.
I'm going to question Automatron. Maybe he could give us a clue./And I'm going to check on Pegase, see how he's feeling.
The two Minds disappeared.
"Master?" Olky questioning tone brought me out of my dark musing.
"Yes?"
"Should we go back inside?"
He was right, I still had a job to do. My partners wouldn't want to let their sacrifice go too vast. And maybe the gang member inside knew something.

The ending is a little abrupt but I still have a number of points that I want to hit in Arcadia so I cut the chapter here. I'm not satisfied with what little I wrote after that point. I need to work on it some more. This was an acceptable cut-off point.
