It's a Hive City, there's always outbreaks down in the lower levels that make the Black Death look like the flu. Also, 13th Black Crusade's in T-Minus how many years again?

Well, the quest started in March 998.M41, and we had a yearlong timeskip on the last planet, plus however many months other stuff has taken.

From what I understand, the first wave of the 13th Black Crusade (the Eye of Terror campaign GW did back in 2006 or so) was in 995.M41, while the second wave that broke Cadia was in 999.M41...

Open_Sketch does not seem obliged to canon timing or plot points here, though, so not sure how useful these comparisons are.

[X] Go escorted (Charitina wears her armour and carries her gear, but you'll go casual to talk to people. You'll look like somebody important and soft, not good if somebody is feeling daring)

[x] Go dressed casual (You'll find it easier to talk to regular folks, but might look like a mark for gangers).

At one point the train passed through what looked like the skeleton of an ancient city, and you swore you saw faces in some of the empty windows, movement in the collapsed streets.
Oh fuck, this is worrying, given we were asked to come here by a Eldar ex of ours.

How good is Charitina outside of the armour and with only concealable weapons?
She'll still be wearing effectively flak armour (as will you) and will be rocking her carbine, and she's a pretty good fighter at range and up close. Her going heavy means she breaks out her half plate power armour, carries extra magazines, and has a four foot long flaming sword at her hip.

"You know, Marvel Ann, it's a bit disconcerting that you can just connect like that whenever you want." you said, though you had to admit you didn't have that big a problem with her being able to do it. "Can any Magos do that?"

"... yes, they can. You Really Should have some encryption on this, huh? L e m m e D o T h a t." she said, and you felt a bit of a shiver go through you as your limbs locked up. "Sorry, that's automatic. It's so you don't move around while somebody is Working On You."

The buffer thing and not having the mental disconnect sound like insufferable annoyances, but leaving it so an Inquisitor can have their brain implant hacked into and their limbs disabled by literally anyone with a basic jack is more in the Treasonous incompetence realm. (I realise that only being a minor implant what could be done to her brain through it is likely quite limited, still.)

Did you have this stuff with her terrible prosthesis aftercare planned, or did you just decide on it when you were starting to write this scene, out of curiosity?

I had the idea fairly early on that there would be features and capabilities of the arm she was kept in the dark about as a way to show the utter distrust of the mechanicus installing it. but i wasn't sure what until i realized marvel ann probably isn't removing all her limbs to sleep.

also gosh i just love writing marvel ann fussing over joanyn it's so damn cute.

[X] Go dressed casual (You'll find it easier to talk to regular folks, but might look like a mark for gangers).

Given that "casual" still entails flak-equivalent protection, this should be fine.

They do make a super cute couple. With all the affection, I'm kinda surprised they didn't hook up at some point during the month cooped up on that spaceship. Still, I shouldn't expect the septuagenarians to act like teenagers.

.... oh they absolutely did, to be clear. i just didn't feel a particular need to write about it for once.

i must be losing it my god.

that said, marvel ann is very new at this, and joanyn isn't being pushy. next update is gonna discuss their relationship a bit.

Yup, we have Nurgle at work.
I would expect some Nurgle sentiment in the midst of the plague. It is what Nurgle does and these people are vulnerable and looking for answers, but I am hesitant to attribute Nurgle as the cause. Plagues are living beings too and not all of them are cultists! So yeah, cause and effect, did the plague summon Nurgle or did Papa summon the plague? Does it matter?

I want to see more fop Praxis, and this is the nearest option.
