How the heck would we know that?
I am hoping the Propaganda Office can find out for us or by studying the wrecks of ships and looking for when they where made.
If most are older that indicates that building up was done over a longer period and probably a slower rate of construction while if they are all made in the last five decades we know that they did build at least a SBG worth of ships per decade.

Edit: the wiki about how it was done by the allies during ww2:

The funny thing is, I'm pretty sure they still don't know we're majority human. Or even "any" human at all.
The downside of not leaving any survivors to tell the tale. :V
Does this bypass shields?
Only in its Melee Phase.
He's clearly talking about the Rad Lance, and yet the text here basically says, "It's not actually good at defeating the enemy" @HeroCooky :
...why is that saying "sensors"?

No. Seriously? That should be "systems" not "sensors!"

Gah! Fixed!
@HeroCooky
1) Did we lose cruiser hangar tax, or is it still in force?
2) How big you have to be to (reliably) prematurely trigger null-net? Can we use a swarm of boarding shuttles with automated or servitor pilots for such, for example?
3) Description of Rad Lance implies that it is a spinal/prow weapon, is it correct? Does it have similar range as Medium Prow Lance? Does it benefit from lance equipment?
4) Would triple Medium Prow Lance strain Light Cruiser's energy system like Saggitarius' does?
5) Would laser macro-cannons benefit from lance or projectile enhancement equipment? Would it be a hitscan weapon?
1. You lost it.
2. Destroyer sized.
3. No, yes, yes. It is spinal large.
4. Yes, unless it is the largest size possible.
5. I assume you mean plasma, and no. Only projectile equipment buffs them.
[1] Does this do anything for Rad Lances, @HeroCooky , I don't think so, but I'm adding it to take off later.
It does not, they are already hitscan.
Though, tbh, I had assumed that phalanx would no sell rad. Scrambling shield 1 is pointless if shields 2-10 remain active.
Yes, but now you have 1 ship unshielded and 9 shielded versus 10 shielded. So that means you have 9 shielded and soon 1 unshielded and 8 shielded. So that etc.
@HeroCooky do we know how many SBG worth of ships the Dutchy is capable of building if they put all their actions on it?
No. But you know they can produce about ~2-30 Destroyers and ~5-10 Frigates per Turn here if required.

Don't forget people, that if you put a Rad weapon on a ship to make sure you put anti-radiation armor on it as well, otherwise the radiation will kill the crew overtime.

No. But you know they can produce about ~2-30 Destroyers and ~5-10 Frigates per Turn here if required.
Destroyers are 2 FP each, frigates 4, at 15 Destroyers/ 7 Frigates they are building 2*15+4*7= 58 points of ships per turn. We build 120 points per SBG action and win at at least 2:1 odds.
So to keep up we need at least an action per turn on building SBG to keep the odds the same until we start to build improved designs.
To be safe i would say we do two SBG actions per turn till

that leaves us with:
3 turns with 1 military action + 2 any actions
Followed by turns with only a single action to spare

We want in order of priority:
A Rad lance cruiser(4 design points)
A Leo that better at dodging null nets and fire sooner(8 design points + 1 action for Duchy Engine Mysteries + 1 action for Burner Seeker Mines and Rotary Plasma-Macro Cannons)
A Crux-Secundus upgrade, it can spend a lot of points and the current one is missing two missile equipment(2 design points)
Scorpio-Class Light Cruiser upgrade, with the new doctrine it no longer requires a hangar and can focus on missile(4 design points)
Libra-Light Carrier upgrade, with the migration fleet we can replace its supply with lance turrets.(4 design points)
this comes to 22 points and we get 10 per action

Nice to have but can be done later
Andromeda upgrade, faster and improved defenses(4 design points)
new scout with the The Celestial Orrery(1 design point)
new minelayer destroyer(we get an even amount of design points so designed together with the new scout.(1 design point)

There are two ways to plan this(design actions are military):
1: Lance right away:
Turn 1: 2x SBG, design 1x: lance cruiser + start on leo, Duchy Engine Mysteries ,for Burner Seeker Mines and Rotary Plasma-Macro Cannons
Turn 2: 2x SBG, design 1: complete Leo, Crux, Scorpio, design 2: Libra, Andromeda, scout, minelayer, one non ship action
Turn 3: 4x SBG, one non ship action

1: Lance delayed:
Turn 1: 2x SBG, Duchy Engine Mysteries ,for Burner Seeker Mines and Rotary Plasma-Macro Cannons, one non ship action
Turn 2: 2x SBG, design 1: lance cruiser + start on leo design 2: complete Leo, Crux, Scorpio, design 3: Libra, Andromeda, scout, minelayer
Turn 3: 4x SBG, one non ship action

This gives us one final turn with 5 actions before the 5 turn emergancy ends and we return to 3 actoins per turn where i hope we can build 2 SBG's with the new designs.

A Rad lance cruiser(4 design points)
A Leo that better at dodging null nets and fire sooner(8 design points + 1 action for Duchy Engine Mysteries + 1 action for Burner Seeker Mines and Rotary Plasma-Macro Cannons)
We could combine these two.

Get the Lance scattershot module, then create a Leo offshoot that combines the rad blaster with variable effect macroshots.

Fair enough and seems to be going well then, its been that long huh? and yah, fuck. We lost our chance at an easy prize. All we had to do was do an action to make contract and either support a house trying for the throne or bribe some houses. With the Centralization they'll be in better position and start moving push just being feudal Knight Worlds.
I mean, we could still try talking to them and trying to ally with them against the Croaf and try subverting them over time through the power of Missionaries and Luxury Goods.
Haaa...if only you had a weapon that no-sold shields. Alas, such a thing does not exist. :(
Yeah, we're gonna need to make that Corona Light Cruiser that was brought up previously.
Libra-Light Carrier upgrade, with the migration fleet we can replace its supply with lance turrets.(4 design points)
this comes to 22 points and we get 10 per action
Honestly, the Libra-Q is good as is. The Andromeda is something that definitely needs an update though.

5. I assume you mean plasma, and no. Only projectile equipment buffs them.
Rogue Trader, Core Rulebook
Sunsear Laser Battery

These laser batteries are common on Naval frigates, providing a balance between power used and damage inflicted.
Rogue Trader, Into the Storm
Staravar Laser Macrobattery
Humanity's grasp of laser weapon technology was once much
greater than even the greatest Magos of a Forge can replicate.
However, such weapons can still be found scattered amongst
the vast reaches of the Imperium. Though a weapon such as the
Staravar does not do substantially more damage than other laser
macrobatteries, it uses substantially less power to do so.
Macrobattery: Except where specified otherwise, this
weapon Component follows all rules for Macrobatteries.
Are these things-that-don't-exist in your quest?

Huh, didn't know these were a thing. But you don't get them (Staravar) as you have neither found any (retro-active explanation), nor have the impetus to swivel around to create them as you have other options that are much cheaper to create (logistical considerations).

The Sunsear just sounds like a Lance to be honest.

You know, it would be nice to get the phalanx of our own. I guess that's a lot of why the duchy is torpedo spam. Ignores the shield.

I wonder if making a ramming-specialized frigate is worth it? Just reading about the success of the Lamenter ramming team, feels like some superfast frigates with armor to the gills and prow rams could tear through the duchy destroyer-heavy force.

If we using this we would not have lost 22 at Voxx, but its a part of the 3th design action as other upgrades give a larger upgrade(the same action in my plan upgrades the Andromeda as well) :

--[]Libra-Quintus Light Carrier(25)
--[]-Length - 4.200m
--[]-Width - 550m
--[]-Acceleration - 5 Gravities (-1 DP)
--[]-Armor - Medium Double Hull
--[]-Shields - One Matrix
--[]-Weapons -2x Medium Bomber Hangars(2)/1x Medium Fighter Hangar(1)/1x Medium Mixed Hangar(1)/Anti-Voidcraft Defenses(2), Light Lances Turrets(1) (Total: 60 Bombers and 96 Fighters) 7 DP
--[]-Equipment - Strict Pilot Training(1)/Veteran Pilot Gene-Lines(1)/Handpicked Pilots(3)/Automated Fighter Re-Arming Procedures(2)/Armored Lifepods(1)/Superior Gravimetric Engine Calculations(2)/Ship Shrines(1)/Veteran Crews(3)/Enhanced Strategeum(3) 17

The existing carrier with no supply as we have migration fleets for that now to give it two lance Turrets for self defence

883.M42 - Return To Me
8 - Eyes Set Upon A War Without Bloody Souls
8 - Let there be blood. Let There Be Blood!

The Choir aboard the Chamleon within Vluas sang its warning, the Choirs of Echish delivered the message to those seeing the fleets within Kaig delivered from star to star; and High Admiral Huntress ordered a return to Echish at once the second the last of the Duchy ships fell silent.

Warp Drives began to pool power, Gellar Fields hummed their mighty bulwarks, and rifts within the fabric of the Veil opened in the hundreds as ships Federation and Lamenter breached into the Warp, their forms gently embraced by the howling laughter of thirsting gods and the bloody rain of a billion billion souls marching to drumbeats unto the anvil of eternal unrelenting all-consuming war.

They left behind floating wrecks, scattered Duchy survivors slowly being gathered by shuttles sent by the local planet, and the taste of blood within the mouths of all who would leave in this direction for the next eighty-eight years.

"No response from the fleet?" Commodore Lista-34.a asked once more, their clockwork eyes clicking within the silent thrum of the bridge, though they knew the answer already as the ships had whispered no new signals to them within the system.

+++NEGATIVE+++ Lista-34.b replied, the twin to the Commodore and the leader of the local Choirs assigned here by dint of providence and, now, a sick sense of humor. +++CHANCE FOR INTERCEPTION DIMINISHING BY THE MINUTE+++

They knew this. They had calculated the odds themselves the second the Duchy Fleet had warped into the system and had begun to burn toward Voxx Secundus. And yet, what were they supposed to do with twenty-four Destroyers, one of which was an ancient Cobra, against nearly ninety, eight of them Light Cruisers? What indeed, if the price for inaction wasn't the deaths of hundreds of billions.

After all, the Chamleon had sent notice that Exterminatus-Grade Weaponry had been delivered to the fleet two days before their departure.

+++...THIS WILL END IN YOUR DEATH+++ Silence reigned between the two. Lista-34.a wondered, not for the last time, what thoughts burned behind their twins' mechanical face, their lives so different after they had found the Gift within them and Duty took one for the Celestial Choirs...and the other to the Star Force. Even if they preferred the name Classem Lucis Aeternae. It just had that much more weight behind the duty they now had.

"This would always end in my death. One does not raise the sword and not make peace with the knowledge that they, too, shall meet their end by the sword." Several more seconds passed before Lista-34.a found a hand upon their shoulder, the appendage belonging to their twin grasping the body part with more force than strictly necessary. "I know the promise we made when you left. I consider breaking it for the chance to see billions still live a fair price."

+++RETURN TO ME. USE THE LIFE PODS FOR WHAT THEY WERE MADE. FATHER AND I WILL NOT FACE THE WALL OF THE LOST WITH NOTHING BUT YOUR NAME TO GRIEVE BY+++

"I cannot promise this."

+++THEN LIE+++

Silence paused, the memory of those moments when nothing had to be done more oppressive than the need to fill in the humm and whirr of mechanics and augments.

"I will do what I must and what I can."

It was not enough for Lista-34.b. Not even remotely. But it was all that could be given as they had to depart the ship.

And with them:
(6-Hour Moratorium)
[] All Non-Volunteer Crew
(Task Force Alpha will seek out the Vluas Fleet, charging their plasma reactors and setting course into their hearts to kill as many as possible. There is an [Extreme] chance this tactic will kill the volunteers and a [High] chance this will gut the Vluas Fleet enough for rush-deployed Kil'drabi, Civilian Security Ships, and Monitors in Voxx Secundus and Primus to stand against them and win if they press on.)
[] All Non-Essential Crew (Write-In Strategy)
(Task Force Alpha will seek to fight against the Vluas Fleet and gain valuable time conventionally. You do not know the outcome. It is likely to be insufficient.)

Oh well, so it does turn out that defenses are entirely useless and the enemy can just fly past.
They aren't, for the purpose of keeping the planet safe. You didn't account for them completely ignoring everything and gunning past your line right as your fleet is kept away by Khorne.

This would not have happened if the Eddies hadn't double-rolled eights.

Should have put defenses at Voxx instead. Ah well.

Looks like our ground campaign is going to basically be reset. Good bye all our progress on that world. On the grim plus side, less people to keep alive.

I mean, that was the exact objection I had against all the plans that aimed to build way too many space stations. That the enemy could just gun past them without ever coming into range.

Still, we only spent a single action on it, so it's not like there is that much to be gained.

The ground campaign won't be reset. Vox Secundus is likely to get burned, and as a result everyone on Vox Primus will starve.

It'll mean a quicker victory, but no point otherwise.
