Explanation: I'm interested to see what the bio alloys can do and more food is always useful. Can be used to feed the hungry with existing programs. Let's us make use of otherwise useless planets. We already have terraforming, but will always have a need for more military forces. So the maws give more of a net benefit. Paradise worlds are largely for prestige and little other utility. Medical doesn't need any further explanation. We are going up against a massive swarm of enemies that prey on biomass. We need numbers they can't originally convert for their own use. Space marines are great for force concentration but will never be in the numbers we need to cover everything. Better to have them focus on taking out important things like synapse creatures and heavy units. Automatons on the other hand can be made in bulk and be expendable while remaining effective.
