I can absolutely see someone going "I will do X, just admit Sonic is your better" and Eggman just laughs at the thought like it's the biggest joke in the world before commanding his robots to destroy the place and leaving.

I think she's met Shadow, but Shadow hasn't met her yet, if that makes sense.
Hope needs to get over herself and just accept that she's part of an evil family. Eggman's evil. Her father was evil. His father was probably evil. And his father.... was very complicated towards the end.
