Even if they tie, it seems that many AE supporters have LH as their second choice, while it's less for the opposite. So LH would win the tie.

And LH is also the least disliked guild, with only one 4 and one omitted.

Edit: and watch out for people editing their votes.
I've got time to wait; the "attend lessons before joining a Guild" has a pretty huge lead, so I might as well just write that and lock once I'd need to do so in order to proceed.

-(EDIT: deleted post)-
Wrong thread, I think.

It's ok to change our votes, right? I wanted the Sylphs, but Liquid Horizon is my second choice so I'll switch to that.

[X][1] Liquid Horizon (Archeology & Magic Development)
[X][2] Sylph Symphony (Artifact Creation)
[X][4] Angel's Eye (Small & New)
[X][3] Lion's Pride (Large & General)

[X] Yes.
-[X] Before you join a Guild. Otherwise, they might only halfheartedly teach you.

You were already being counted toward Liquid so this doesn't actually change anything, but sure. :p

It isn't, actually. The Sylph Symphony lessons are locked in, but the guild vote is still open:

Edit:
I think @SmolPasta was referring to their earlier pre-unlock vote.
I had considered that too, but I checked SmolPasta's posts and saw neither a previous vote nor an edited post where one could've been. Unless the post was deleted outright?

[X] Yes.
-[X] Before you join a Guild. Otherwise, they might only halfheartedly teach you.
-[X] After you're reasonably satisfied that the voices won't harm you, or have dealt with them if they would.

I mean, this sort of thing is going to be useful anyway. Assuming she won't upset anyone the free training is almost a must-have.
The voices seem kinda helpful (well, at least friendly-ish) in an alarmingly yandere way, so while they're probably safe it's best to make sure of it...

That said, I'm leaning toward the artificer or explorer guides (the former since she can start making cool loot, the latter because she might find some... assuming we make another one-in-a-billion roll :p).

[3] Liquid Horizon (Archeology & Magic Development)

[1] Sylph Symphony (Artifact Creation)

I'm of course quite tempted by Angel Eye since it sounds like an OP guild with lots of shipping drama though. Blake ending up in a harem plot sounds like a good way to make her happier, too. :D
So any of those three sound good, for when she stops asking about guilds and applies to one.

[2] Angel's Eye (Small & New)

In a larger scale, I'd love to see her end up in MGLN since that's still one of my favorite settings. Maybe that can be the next plane? She can get some decent groundwork in magitech here, and then go exploring for strange and ancient magics in MGLN (and maybe even bring them back here to sell the new shinies that no one has seen before... if she can make sure no one tries to steal her secrets/suppliers from her). Aka the plane where you can't go twelve feet without tripping over an ancient Wish spell. So maybe it's a good idea that she's somewhere she can safely learn this stuff without blowing up a planet or two.

Every d&d adventure has shown me that magic items are awesome and terrifying when not yours....so gimme.

Alright, so the vote didn't really get any closer overnight. I'm keeping voting unlocked for now. :p

As you can see, it's a bit of a clusterbuck. Since this will affect the focus of pretty much the entire rest of the quest, I'm willing to break my usual policy of "strict IC knowledge only" and answer some miscellaneous questions you lot might have about Angel's Eye and Liquid Horizon. I won't promise to answer anywhere near all of them, but I'll at least relax restrictions a little in the name of an informed decision.

To start off:

Angel's Eye:
  • Yes, you'll be able to convince them to let you join. This applies to all the Guilds; it'd be a right killjoy for something to win after all this trouble and then them just say an unassailable "no," right?
  • Angel's Eye is currently unspecialized and largely malleable. The fanboy focus on their characters was partiallyon account of the Guild itself not really having any major achievements of note after the events leading to their founding, although it isn't inaccurate to say that their relationships with Blake would also be far less distant and professional than would be maintained by most Lost Horizon members for a good while.
    • Most of them currently spend a great deal of time around the Guildhall rather than wandering around the country. This may change depending on your influence and their own growth.
  • Far more closely-knit than most other Guilds and designed by the founders to stay that way.
    • Zero people whom Blake is likely to hate.
    • When it matters, they're currently a bit of a black hole as far as secret-keeping is concerned.
    • Honestly quite likely to stay entirely female despite their claims.
    • Largely don't keep secrets from other members as far as magic is concerned, but also don't yet have as many magical secrets to keep secret. (Except Isolde, but her specialties aren't as easily usable by Blake.)
  • Isolde (the Messenger) is a continent-tier powerhouse largely acting as a one-woman deterrent to organized attacks on Angel's Eye.
  • Raleigh (their Warlock) is firmly of the mindset that magic is a tool to be wielded responsibly, not something that has inherently good or evil types.
  • Myrrhine is, in fact, willfully engaging in what she knows is risky behavior liable to get her kidnapped.
"I want to live somewhere that a girl can fearlessly go on a late-night stroll under the stars wearing whatever she wants. So, I do that. Every time someone kidnaps me is a time they won't be grabbing someone else, and won't be able to grab anyone else once Isolde is through with them."

"And she's weird about chains," Isolde muttered.

"And I–" Myrrhine started to agree, then caught herself and shot Isolde a look of purest betrayal. "Blake is not old enough for you to say that in front of her!"

"You're the one who took 'weird' in that direction," Isolde dryly remarked. "You said it, not me."

Blake sighed. It seemed people were the same on any plane: prepared to devolve into innuendo at the first available opportunity.

"What happens between two consenting adults is absolutely none of my business. I would appreciate it if we all kept it that way; I do not need details of your love life."

Myrrhine flushed and shook her head frantically. From the corner of one eye, Blake spotted Isolde sporting a huge grin.

"It really isn't like that at all!" Myrrhine insisted. "Isolde is just teasing, that's all."

"I know you kept some of those manacles," Isolde deadpanned.

Myrrhine looked utterly mortified. Blake was honestly starting to believe her, but also felt the slow stirrings of amusement.

"Isolde!" she hissed. "That's in case we ever need to restrain someone for transport and you know it!"

"Do I?" Isolde mused, her lips twitching. "Because I could've sworn you brought one of the pairs up to–"

"Cut it out!"
  • Most of the members are skill sponges who will grow over time, especially with aid.

Liquid Horizon:
  • Members will devour both magical and cultural artifacts from other planes with great enthusiasm. The less similar to what they've seen before, the better.
    • Yes, the variety in MGLN would have them metaphorically scrEAMING.
  • At least one member can no longer train their magic lest it kill them. They would happily pounce on the alternative that an Aura awakening would provide.
  • Some of the members are (usually subconsciously) leery of sacrificial magics due to historical records. This mostly applies to Life Drain and related skills; they largely don't have much of an issue with the rest of Black—aside from the significant recent stigma against demonology, anyway, but Angel's Eye also suffers from that.
  • Most members spend much of their time well outside the Guildhall, and ruins are seldom easily accessible. Excavation is a significant component of their trade.
    • Notably, they are not treasure seekers; they'll stick around at the sites long after the low-hanging fruit has been grabbed.
      • "Destruction of historical artifacts" is a fairly significant concern; they won't want to just blast through walls to grab powerful mana signatures.
    • Blake's Mana Sense would be invaluable for their expeditions.
  • Lost Magics tend to require more practice to control than is typically found in modern magics. Part of that is how less power is put toward safety and controls, leaving that power available for use. Another part is how they're often just plain better at breaking the world.
  • Blake will likely have a harder and slower time at having the Guild warm up to her compared to Angel's Eye, and interpersonal relationships are likely to be far less cuddly.
  • Blake is not the only Planeswalker in the historical record.

Hel-lo, yes, we would like to learn more about this
I'm mostly not saying more on that subject; the vagueness was deliberate :p. I will say that they wouldn't be the only source for such information, just one of the easier ones. (Isolde would also know roughly where to find a smaller number of records if she doesn't already possess personal knowledge of Planeswalkers. (EDIT) But it's not like such documents would be easily collected under the word "planeswalker," or that the entire texts would clearly be dedicated to them.)

Angel's Eye sounds better and better.
And while the Liquid Horizon would be awesome to haveon side if/when we start plane hopping, i am not interested in making a guild choice based on that.

And there goes the one reason i might have had to vote L.H. instead of A.E. :V
