Renascence: A Homura Quest

Honorifics or Western-style Titles? I've used both before, which is bothersomely inconsistent

Oh and relevant stuff from Different Story, wiki reliability aside.

Kyouko reveals to Mami that she does not consider her to be her friend, much to Mami's anguish.

But what Kyouko really meant was to her, Mami is like a sister, the only family she has left in the world.
Sayaka becomes a witch in the late part of chapter 8.

She didn't call herself an idiot this time. She feels happy for being necessary to Mami, but it was already too late.
According to Kyubey, she became a witch because there are no grief seeds left for her. They were all used by Homura, Kyoko and Mami.
Kyubey corrects his words later in volume 3, he indicates that it is not Mami's fault that Sayaka became a witch as Mami tried to avoid hunting excessively too many witches, leaving the rest for Sayaka, but Sayaka never acted as Mami hoped, so Sayaka failed to cleanse her Soul Gem as a result.
Kyubey isn't bothered with the results, saying confrontation between magical girls speeds up the pollution of their Soul Gems.
Kyubey regrets that Kyouko and Mami didnt become witches, since that represents a net loss.
After hearing his words, Mami becomes angry and summons a pistol from her soul gem, preparing to shoot Kyubey.
The QB can lie~

He outright said that Sayaka witched out because Homura, Mami and Kyouko depleted the witch supply.

Then later on reverses that to say that she witched out because she wasn't hunting, and remarks that it's a pity the others didn't witch out.
That's a lie there, aimed at driving the others to despair. It nearly worked too.

Except they didn't deplete the witch supply. They were explicitly running low on cleansings because they were trying to leave some for Sayaka.

Eh, can't find the exact source of what you're referencing, so will go based on what you wrote.

Strictly speaking, he said she died because there were no grief seeds for her; they were 'used up' by the other three. That means she has no supply herself (because she didn't hunt the available witches), and no one else has surplus available to compensate for her lack (since they were also not hunting those witches which they assumed she would kill). This is not the same as saying there were no witches at all.

That does not conflict with the statement that it wasn't Mami's fault that Sayaka didn't hunt those witches.

Personally, I think that the Incubators will never say anything that can be proven nonfactual, but they will purposefully and deliberately wordsmith in a way that they know their targets will interpret in a false way.

They let their targets arrive to false conclusions on their own.
So Kyubey's statement of "I cannot lie" is the same as "I did not shoot that man, this gun in my hand did."

Not quite (at least, not according to the translation I've got):
Towards the end of Volume 2, Mami finds Sayaka fighting Elsa Marie and tries to get her to come back, telling her that Sayaka has the wrong image of her and stuff. Sayaka says the "... happy I'm needed by you," line, then starts to Witch. Kyubey does not directly state the immediate cause of Sayaka's becoming a Witch:
Kyubey and Mami said:
Be it sooner or later, Miki Sayaka would be the first to hatch. That was pretty predictable. In a territory occupied by multiple skilled magical girls, it's not surprising that there wouldn't be enough to go around for a solitary magical girl with poor witch-locating skills. No matter how large a city is, there's a limit to how many witches can inhabit it. And yet, you didn't abandon your practice of hunting familiars. Even if you didn't know the ultimate fate that awaits all magical girls, surely you fully understood how important grief seeds are.

Kyubey ... why did Miki-san turn into a witch?

Need you even ask? You already know the answer. Miki Sayaka was turned into a witch by Akemi Homura, Sakura Kyouko, and Tomoe Mami. Who else could it be?
Then in Volume 3, he says that he will "revise" an earlier statement, and says that they were not the direct cause of Sayaka's Witching because they didn't overhunt the Witches. Less a lie, and more implying a certain thing, and then later clarifying. In a way, he's even not lying to Mami when he says that to Mami, because they arguably are the cause for Sayaka's Witching due to the way they acted and treated her and each other, and didn't keep a close enough eye on her.

Of course, then Kyouko goes and dies fighting some unnamed Witch, and Mami commits suicide, and PMMM is a horrible place once again :(

Say two unrelated true statements for a false outcome and max despair. The little bastard.

And we have to work with him for a good end. Its not personal. Humanity is just cattle.

Ah, Kyubey. I've done a lot of work on the Incubators too. Lots of history to explore, if you can find a good source.

Wait...I'm here. And this isn't an update. Sorry.

This is me stopping by to drop off and update on the update. The last 2 days have been spent making character sheets and researching Nanoha. Everything is pretty much ready, so the update should hopefully go up tomorrow. There shouldn't be any more delays after that, thankfully, until the next time I find myself needing to do extensive research.

...and with that, this Witch is going to check his other threads and go to sleep. Looking forward to seeing how the fight goes...oh, I'll leave you with one extra gift.

This battle is readily winnable, and would be winnable even if you were alone with no arsenal. It will be tough, however. Be creative, and think outside the box, and you should have a good chance.

The barrier is a reproduction of Tokyo-3. We might be able to utilize some of the weaponry from the barrier if that weaponry exists in a usable form. It'd take a good write-in to ease Homura's mind into trying this, however.

That would be great if Homura actually recognized the Witch for what it is imitating. Unfortunately, Homura doesn't seem to recognize it. We can deduce from this that she either has not seen the Evangelion series or movies, or that she has looped so many times that she has forgotten them.

Exactly. She might have to notice the Evas sortieing to take notice of the weapon caches. Or one getting destroyed. Or something like that.

The city in the barrier is Mitakihara, actually. Forgot to mention that.
