Kyoko would still be there if she didnt went to hobo it up.

Because. If Amy dies then Madoka contracts and while thats not an insta-bad end its a huge detriment to our goals and a great hit to homura's psyche.
i think the general fandom theory is that the cat always "dies unless saved" in all the time loops.

what makes one think amy always dies in the time loops? thought that was a one off thing.

why does amy matter when madoka will just make a wish if she sees any animal dies in front of her while many are distracted from amy?
whats stoping qb from just letting several die while in view of madoka?
will the voters waste time making sure any and all are safe around the clock?

Amy is clearly the only stray animal in the city clearly :V
and of course non-strays don't get ran over by cars :V
will the voters waste time making sure any and all are safe around the clock?
I really wish that I could say 'no' to this question.
whats stoping qb from just letting several die while in view of madoka?
To much effort easier to make teenage girls have emotional breakdowns then it is to get an animals to die in convenient places.

One possibility is that QB has some kind of limit to how much he's allowed to manipulate things towards people making contracts, otherwise he would have done more to push madoka in the show.

Maybe it's governed by the same thing that means he's not allowed to suggest wishes?

been a while but is madoka even in this timeline?
also personally don't see the appeal to helping the cat.
If Homura doesn't somehow nudge the situation, Amy gets hit by a car and Madoka Wishes her back to life.

Homura doesn't really have to save Amy, though, she just needs to get her off schedule...make sure the cat isn't on the street to get hit by the car, somehow.

Saving her, rather than otherwise averting the situation, is a sentimentality thing: Homura saw herself in Amy, and Amy led Homura to Madoka's side on Walpurgisnacht, during the first timeline. If she hadn't done that, then Madoka would have died without Homura being there, and Homura would likely not have Wished.

Considering that, and other interactions since then, Homura has a serious soft spot for the little fluffball.

10 minute warning.

In the mean time, I found a song that's very appropriate for this Homura. Thought I'd share.

The one I posted a minute or two ago was the wrong one.

The rule against double-posting doesn't apply, I think, if you're a quest gm in your own quest thread or a fiction author in your own story thread.

"Hmm...Mami would probably benefit from your presence, wouldn't she Amy? I'll miss you, but it's just for a while...and Mrs. Miki's goodwill isn't something I should abuse. Come."

You scoop the small feline up into your arms, petting her as you again depart your current home...and head towards your other one. Memories of past times with Amy run through your head as you make the journey.

When you first met her, she had happily jumped into your arms in exchange for a cookie. She was quite sweet and adorable...and she was also so very alone. At the time, you had wondered if she would be your savior...someone else that needed a friend as much as you did.

Then Madoka told you that she'd Wished to save Amy, and you had felt something lurch in your chest...she had saved Amy, just like she'd saved you. It was almost like, in some strange way, you and Amy were tied together. That...sounds a bit absurd, even now, but you certainly have never been able to hurt her. Even if she's scared of you at first, now...you'll still protect her, just like always. After all...you didn't start this journey alone.

No, your mission...it didn't begin when you made that Wish. It began when Walpurgisnacht first arrived...and you went out, looking for Madoka in what you thought was a storm. You stumbled around, lost, for a long time...but, eventually, Amy found you and led you to Madoka's side.

You'd never have achieved anything, if it weren't for this cat.

You scratch her ears with a hint of a smile, "Thank you, Amy. Now...let's get you to safety, okay? You and I...we can't let Madoka sacrifice herself for us, can we?"

Amy meows at that, and you pretend she's agreeing with you.

Soon enough, you're at your apartment. It's...a bit surreal, knocking at the door of you own home, but politeness is a small price to pay for keeping these two alive.

Kyouko's voice rings out from within, "Hold up for just one sec!"

Moments later the door opens, "Hey Ribbons! What's...is that a cat?"

You nod, stepping inside calmly, "Yes. This is Amy. She's...my cat, I suppose. I found her hunting for scraps, and..." You shrug.

"I dislike imposing upon the Mikis by trying to keep her with me, considering I'm already a guest of sorts, so I need you two to watch over her while I'm unable to. She's a bit of a big eater, but..." You raise an eyebrow at her, "Somehow, I doubt that's a problem. Just...don't let her eat too much too quickly. She'll end up wasting it if she throws up."

Kyouko averts eye contact for a moment, "Yeah...sure thing, Ribbons. Won't let it happen. You doing to explain to Mami, or should I-"

"I heard."

Mami walks in from one of the rooms (they've adjusted the layout to their purposes, so you're not quite sure where she's coming from), looking...worn, you suppose is the best word. It's...a bit sad, but you can still see her usual steel lurking beneath the surface, "I'd be happy to take care of the little one. Anything we need to worry about? Allergies?"

You shake your head, "Not that I know of. She's been alone for a long time, I think, but she's still going strong...if she's held on this long, I doubt you'll have any trouble keeping her happy. Keeping her from running off might be a bit harder...but she should stick around once she gets used to a steady supply of food."

Kyouko has leaned over to study Amy while you've been speaking to Mami, inspecting the ball of black fur for...you're not quite sure what.

Amy returns the favor, evaluating Kyouko...and then reaching up and pawing her nose, thankfully forgoing claws. The redhead jerks a bit at that, reaching up instinctively in response, "Hey! Wha-! Ah hell, there's two of them."

You raise an eyebrow at that, and she grumpily clarifies, "All nice and soft one sec, then suddenly on the attack a moment later...you two both enjoy fucking with my head. Anyway, yeah, we'll watch out for the little menace." She smiles toothily as she says it, taking a seat on the back of Mami's couch, "Just don't blame me if she goes crazy...that's all you."

You listen calmly as she explains...then immediately poke her in the forehead, sending her toppling over the back of the couch and onto the ground on the other side, head-first. She immediately scrambles back up, grumbling something about cats and Time Magi, but you ignore her in favor of Mami, "Thank you for watching out for her, Tomoe-san. She's a stray, and I'm worried she'll get herself hurt if no one's there too keep her from being reckless."

Mami starts to nod at that, but stops half way through the motion; she glances first at Amy, then at Kyouko, then back at you. You simply smile, and she returns it with a nod, "It's my pleasure, Akemi-san, and please--" She cuts off.

Not quite ready to ditch the formality, you see...you can't blame her, considering you turned her world upside down last night, and not for the better. You know she'll open back up to you as you spend time with her; Mami's simply to desperate for friends to hold a grudge for very long.

"I'll see you later, Tomoe-san."

You turn to Kyouko, and offer Amy to her with only a brief moment of hesitation, "Here she is, Kyouko. She's very important, so make sure you take good care of her, alright?"

She nods, "Yeah, yeah. I'll make sure she stays safe, Ribbons. Anything else?"

You shake your head, "No, nothing else. I'll see you around."

You head towards the door, giving Kyouko a faint smile on your way out, but are stopped by her hand on you shoulder. She leans in closer to whisper faintly, "Go have some fun today, okay Ribbons? Get your head back on straight...no way everything that happened last night was just you being an Akemi, and I doubt most Time Magi are...you know. Just...take care of yourself. Wouldn't want to lose ya after just getting to know you."

You nod and depart, closing the door behind you.

You consider what to do next. Kyouko's right...you need to get your mind back in order. First, though...you've felt the loss of your arsenal dearly. It's time to restock.

There are a few places in town you can go for weaponry...the Yakuza, your old standby, is the easiest.

The JSDF is also an option...a bit tougher to break in, but they've got a vast arsenal for you to "requisition." Bigger problem there is that they tend to complicate things when they notice you've stolen everything.

There's also the U.S. Military Base, but you get a strange feeling that you shouldn't try that. You...can't quite recall why.

For now, you decide to stick to what works...the Yakuza.

It takes you a while to make the trip, but it seems to flash by...you've done this more times than you can count.

Last time you visited, you just grabbed a few items. This time?

This time you're taking everything worth taking.

The raid takes a bit of time, but you've long since memorized the layout and the locations of all the best equipment they have. As you do so, you reflect upon how fortunate you are that this particular base is so heavily stocked...you're fairly certain they were gearing up to defend against the the JSDF or the Americans, but these weapons are much better put to use against Walpurgisnacht and other Witches...or, apparently, random monstrosities out of nowhere.

items gained
  • 30 Handguns
  • 20 Machine Guns
  • 5 Sniper Rifles
  • 2 Rocket Launchers
  • 1 Mini-Gun
  • 15 Katana
  • 30 Knives
  • 12 Pipe Bombs
  • Vast Amounts of Ammunition

Once satisfied with your collection, you get out as quickly as you can, and drop Time Stop. That should do it for now. You still have quite a lot of time to kill...might as well make the most of it.

A little bit of reading, a little bit of SAO... anything else?

Gun range maybe? :p She's at 100/100, so it's not like it's training. At that point it's probably more meditation for her than anything else.

Her shop was the first major change that was noticed after all. (at least from my memory)
She may know something about the rest of the stranger happenings in town.

Vast Amounts of Ammunition
The most important acquisition regarding our combat capability.
After all, reloading takes no time at all.

Sounds reasonable. I'm just wondering if we should maybe do it on a roof near Madoka's school. I mean sure that's a bit creeperish but it'll put our anxieties at rest and allow us to see if something happens.

Propyl because the Men in black are a thing and mass U.S. Military emptying of all weapons tends to draw them down like lightning to metal rods.
anyway we are now armed, not enough but eh.
