I don't want to get ride of the dragons. Why even pick a world with dragons if we're gonna just get rid of them? I'm fine with the hunting for glory option, just not wiping them out.

[ ] Plan: Hunting Pack
-[] Leave them be: Their numbers have been thinned sufficiently for human habitation. They should be only an occasional threat to the tribes and smaller villages, easily avoided by most. They will remain as teachers of wisdom and guardians of tradition.(Gain Trait: Hic Svnt Dracones)
-[] Chapter Name: The Hellhounds
-[] Chapter Symbol: A Three Headed Black Dog on a Red Field
-[] Chapter Colors: Primary Black with red Markings
-[] Chapter Creed//Battle Cry: The Hunt never ends!
-[] Veteran Scouts: Battle Brothers of this Chapter form their own dedicated Scout Squads and are used to take upon missions too difficult for their neophyte brethren. Improving their ability to perform recon, stealth, and assassinations in the field.
-[] Deepstrike Doctrine: This Chapter is particularly capable at performing orbital drops, Terminator teleporter assaults, and other such 'death or glory' maneuvers. Woe betides the foe who thought themselves safe.
-[] Expanded Assault Companies: This Chapter has a fondness for jetpacks, and are noted for fielding extra Assault Squads on the battlefield.

[] Plan Courageous Heroes
-[] Hunt them: They are fearsome beats, yet beasts they remain. As such squads of initiates will be tasked with slaying a dragon by whatever means they can. Such a mission will teach them to be more then mere soldiers. (Gain Trait: Clad in Glory)
-[] Name: Sky Guard
-[] Symbol: A white spear and gold thunderbolt crossed over a black shield
-[] Colors: Primary white, secondary black, tertiary gold
-[] Creed: We are brothers all
-[] Battle Cry: Fear the Emperor's Wrath!
-[] Deepstrike Doctrine: This Chapter is particularly capable at performing orbital drops, Terminator teleporter assaults, and other such 'death or glory' maneuvers. Woe betides the foe who thought themselves safe.
-[] Diplomatic Cadres: Marines of this chapter understand how to interact with and manipulate both individuals and the larger systems they create. As such they achieve the rare feat of being socially competent Astartes. Good for influencing others and rallying them to their cause.
-[] Additional Terminators: This Chapter can field enough suits of Terminator armor to equip a significant portion of it's Veteran Astartes. Such detachments are capable of winning almost any battle...if they can be used effectively.

[] Plan: Search and Destroy
-[] Exterminate them: The people of Jundyr have lived under threat for too long. You will destroy that which hunts them and drive back the beasts into the fringes. It will be the work of generations but this world will be made safe for mankind. (Gain Trait: The Better World)
-[] Chapter Name: Sons of Cerberus
-[] Chapter Symbol: A Red Three Headed Dog on a Field of Black
-[] Chapter Colors: Primary Black with Red secondary and Gold trim.
-[] Chapter Creed//Battle Cry: To Empty all of Hell

Borrowing a lot from Kingcrimson.

Was convinced to go for the Better World trait, just sounds healthy for the Legion.

Veteran Scouts to best leverage the Pathfinder Trait and Deepstrike Doctrine to best leverage the Tip of the Spear Trait.

Wanted Expanded Assault, because assault companies are basically Masters of Melee-lite and it gives jetpacks to way more of the legion, instead of concentrating all the firepower into a comparative few Terminator Veterans.
Jetpacks also gives us a bit of that dragon vibe and I dig that. Would make hunting them easier.

[] Hunt them: They are fearsome beats, yet beasts they remain. As such squads of initiates will be tasked with slaying a dragon by whatever means they can. Such a mission will teach them to be more then mere soldiers. (Gain Trait: Clad in Glory)
This would give them good practice in head hunting so I actually think its a good idea to take this.

[] Plan: The Silver Hounds.
-[] Hunt them: They are fearsome beats, yet beasts they remain. As such squads of initiates will be tasked with slaying a dragon by whatever means they can. Such a mission will teach them to be more then mere soldiers. (Gain Trait: Clad in Glory)
-[] Chapter Name: The Silver Hounds.
-[] Chapter Symbol: A three headed, silver canid on golden background.
-[] Chapter Colours: Quartered Silver and White, with golden trim.
-[] Chapter Creed: "Our Glory is Glory of the Imperium!".
--[] Chapter Battle Cry: "The Hunt for Glory has begun!".
-[] Deepstrike Doctrine: This Chapter is particularly capable at performing orbital drops, Terminator teleporter assaults, and other such 'death or glory' maneuvers. Woe betides the foe who thought themselves safe.
-[] Masters of Melee: Members of this Chapter show preternatural skill with melee weapons. The most skilled of them can pose a challenge to even the fiercest daemonic champion.
-[] Additional Terminators: This Chapter can field enough suits of Terminator armor to equip a significant portion of it's Veteran Astartes. Such detachments are capable of winning almost any battle...if they can be used effectively.

[] Plan: The Wolves of Jundyr.
-[] Exterminate them: The people of Jundyr have lived under threat for too long. You will destroy that which hunts them and drive back the beasts into the fringes. It will be the work of generations but this world will be made safe for mankind. (Gain Trait: The Better World)
-[] Chapter Name: The Wolves of Jundyr.
-[] Chapter Colours: Ivory White Primary, with Black Shoulder Plates and Dark Crimson Gauntlets.
-[] Chapter Symbol: A White Wolf's head holding crimson sword in it's mouth, behind the wolf is a golden orb, surrounded by crimson thunderbolts, representation of the Chapter's home of Jundyr.
-[] Chapter Creed/Batte Cry: "To Empty all of Hell!".
-[] Drilled Discipline: This Chapter trains for almost every possible situation they might face. As such they have a high general competence and are resistant to onsets of fear or panic. Whether it be supernatural or mundane complications these marines will be prepared for whatever happens.

Why be the Dragon, when you can kill the Dragon? That's literally the point of Dragons in most folklore. Dragon attacks the village, nobody slays the Dragon, and become somebody. Also, original Luna Wolves were glory seekers...It didn't end up well. A form of redemption to disregard glory.

-[] Exterminate them: The people of Jundyr have lived under threat for too long. You will destroy that which hunts them and drive back the beasts into the fringes. It will be the work of generations but this world will be made safe for mankind. (Gain Trait: The Better World)
-[] Chapter Name: Dragon Slayers
-[] Chapter Symbol: A drakes head, inverted sword piercing atop a black backgroun
-[] Chapter Colors: Primary Black with Green secondary and Gold trim.
-[] Chapter Creed: We will carve a better future.
-[] Battle Cry: We are the Slayers! We are your End!
-[] Deepstrike Doctrine: This Chapter is particularly capable at performing orbital drops, Terminator teleporter assaults, and other such 'death or glory' maneuvers. Woe betides the foe who thought themselves safe.

I noticed that no one made a plan with the combination I want, so I made one. Incredible killy marines with deepstrike doctrine, and more termies. It's really a build that compounds its strengths, and is better than the sum of its parts. I like that thematically the chapter spends centuries exterminating the dragons for a better future.

On the name: I know it is more fitting for a Salamander chapter, but I think it works really well for this particular chapter. It's also going to confuse so many about how this chapter isn't a Salamander chapter.

Also borrowing a lot from CrimsonKing.

Again doing hunt them to keep a tradition of head hunting. Veteran Scouts are to synergize with pathfinders. I chose additional terminators along with deepstrike doctrine because only terminators are capable of doing those so I thought we might as well be able to do more of them. Also it synergizes with tip of the spear.

[] Plan Hunting Beasts
-[] Hunt them: They are fearsome beats, yet beasts they remain. As such squads of initiates will be tasked with slaying a dragon by whatever means they can. Such a mission will teach them to be more then mere soldiers. (Gain Trait: Clad in Glory)
-[] Beast Hunters
-[] A Bloodied Fist Clenching a Dragon Skull
-[] Primary Whites with a Secondary and Red Trim
-[] We Hunt So Mankind May Thrive // Fall to us Beasts, Fall to the Might of Mankind
-[] Veteran Scouts: Battle Brothers of this Chapter form their own dedicated Scout Squads and are used to take upon missions too difficult for their neophyte brethren. Improving their ability to perform recon, stealth, and assassinations in the field.
-[] Brotherhood of Mars: The Techmarines of this Chapter are fully inducted into the Cult Mechanicus. Displaying both greater ability and earning closer ties to Martian brotherhood
-[] Expansive Forges: This Chapter's Fortress Monastery features an expanded forge complex. Thus marines are better able to maintain and customize their gear to a greater degree then their cousins might.

I like the idea of a Chapter wholly dedicated to the Hunt, making equipment better to Hunt. And yes i was picturing some Monster Hunter nonsense while thinking of this plan, i doubt they'd do that kind of thing tho.

hmm . . . 2 training options?
but what if . . . we have a thousand Gary Stus?

Figured it would be a change of pace to let you guys get another pick this turn (and maybe going forward). Felt more appropriate to put it in training as well.

These guys are definitely a bit Gary stu at base. They got the most 'Lunar Wolves are at it again' trait possible.

I can undertand but honestly I just Like For a Better World more than Glory. Since I'm pretty sure this vote is another one that sets the chaps culture.

And Well id ratther have the wolves try to for a Better World as a form of redemption to their fathrs failing rather than go for Glory again.

Planetary Decisions are always going to be big on setting chapter culture, but I do pay attention to the discussion to see what is resonating with people about any given option and try to incorporate those elements.

Being fair all three have influences on what the chapter values and thinks is good. Each also tempers them in different ways.

The first is about preserving something unique in the galaxy and accepting how greater forces shape you. The people of this world have learned to live alongside the dragons relatively peacefully. They are deeply communal with long held traditions built from the limits of their conditions. The Dragons are often seen as protectors and (very disagreeable) teachers. Their presence defines what humans are not, and thus what they can be instead. That being said the people here genuinely live better lives then the vast majority of the Imperium. They train, they hunt lesser beasts, they make families and live to see their grandchildren. "Here be Dragons", they are terrible and beautiful in equal measure. This option ensures that the astartes will merely be one part of the whole.

The second is a crucible of sorts. It's a communal trial where they do something that only the most exceptional mortals could match. Ironically it is less about glory seeking and more the understanding that this is what being an astartes is. You can and will do things that only mortal legends might rival. It's also the most detached since it places so much emphasis on that transition away from mortal life. Similarly it defines the planet to revolve around the Astartes as the new apex predators.

The Better World is a keening dream for the future. It is about reshaping the galaxy because you can build something better from it. Though that necessarily means destroying what already exists. Notably they will not consult the people of Jundyr on whether they would prefer what happens next. It's very much in line with how the Emperor thought about his plans for humanity. Grand ambition, enduring ideals, and necessarily little care for those that would neither join nor yield.

I don't want to get ride of the dragons. Why even pick a world with dragons if we're gonna just get rid of them? I'm fine with the hunting for glory option, just not wiping them out.

I think it's important that you always have the option to reject the status quo of a planet. Sometimes that means allowing you to destroy what made the planet unique in the first place.

In this case it's both a hedge against people who didn't want the dragons and or want to use this to define the chapter. Killing the dragons and 'taming' the planet is an act rich with symbolism and potential meanings. Doubly so since it's an outright rejection of what an astartes homeworld 'should' be.

Yeh and funny enough Robbie G would aprove of extermination. Since he did call out the blood angels for letting baal remain as irradiated wasteland.

Robby G believed that loyalty from giving the people a better life is better than strengh from struggle in a deathworld.

To be fair Baal was so terrible that nearly everyone living on it was suffering from one form of radiation sickness or another. Or were mutated.

This deathworld is different, there's some downright nice places to live here. There's just also a really damn powerful local apex predator that frequents some regions.

Borrowing from Dlan the Wizards plan because I'm not that creative with the other stuff.

Yeh and with QM clarification Im actually fine with Letting Dragons Live.

so is that a yes or no on getting both drilled discipline and supreme adaptability being valid?

No.

Supreme Adaptability got removed from the list.

Jundyr honestly shouldn't qualify as a death world but it was written down as one and thus remains so. My after the fact justification is that the adminstratum saw the dragons, lack of permanent settlements, and death world quality recruits and just never questioned the initial ruling.

Turns out actual death worlds are inefficient. At least in human suffering vs results. The imperium uses them because it's easier then actually considering why things work. It's also why Silva Obscura exists. As an artificial death world the Inquisition can keep playing with it to find our what works.

So yeah. Jundyr is good enough that no one is going to question if you left it as is.

Hmm Favoreds sons is too tempting for Me not to make a plan that double down on it. Especially since this Lineage probably the best to get Diplo training, also Great Social Skills would really help in synerging with Brotherhood of Equals too.

Also Specialist Companies work too. Having a Scouting, Monster Hunter and Spear Company

[] Plan Balanced Hounds
-[] Cerberus
-[] A Black with Red eyes 3 Headed Dog on a Field of Gold
-[] Black with Red and Gold Markings
-[] We Hunt as One // To Empty All Hell!
-[] Specialists Companies: This Chapter dedicates each company to a specific specialty or method of war. Common examples are Terminator companies, fast attack elements and void warfare specialists. Though the specifics will naturally vary by Chapter and need.
-[] Diplomatic Cadres: Marines of this chapter understand how to interact with and manipulate both individuals and the larger systems they create. As such they achieve the rare feat of being socially competent Astartes. Good for influencing others and rallying them to their cause.
