My main concern with Something Better is that it's a giant "unravel the Chapter" button if anybody finds out the truth later. Assuming they're not keeping their ancestry secret from their recruits, which if they are then that's two "unravel the Chapter" buttons
After centuries of idolising the man enough to both shape their culture and change their planet's name, I get the feeling they'll call just about anyone short of Big E himself slandering the Don a liar, and accuse his trousers of being aflame.

[ ] Plan Fools Most Magnificent
-[] Name: Gold Confraters
-[] Symbol: A blazing lance, surrounded by a wreath
-[] Colors: Manila and Faded Gold
-[] Creed//Battle Cry: To reach the unreachable // "For this Quest, Our Hearts Entire!"
-[] Something Better: Man is flesh and blood and so much less. The capacity for dreams might be it's only transcendent aspect. You will not take it from them. (Gain Trait: The Impossible Dream).
-[] Deepstrike Doctrine: Marines of this Chapter are particularly capable at performing orbital drops, Terminator teleporter assaults, and other such 'death or glory' maneuvers. Woe betides the foe who thought themselves safe.
-[] Expanded Reliquary: The Chapter will be granted enough relics to equip it's greatest champions along with the facilities to hold and maintain many more.

A plan in working progress. Playing more to this Chapter's fated glorious deaths with the piercing power of STEEL RAIN.

I am open to changing the equipment/reliquary option if need be, am still not sure what synergizes with this the most.

I don't think it will destroy the chapter if it gets out. They would probably switch to the other trait if they found out. Assuming it doesn't become a chapter secret like the fallen are.

This is an amazing plan too. We know our dood die magnificently wich leads to relics.

So a cycle of Using Relivs for legendary acts which produces a relic which is then used for even heroics would be mega cool

only real problem with it is name

I'm open to alternative Chapter names, just wanted something based after the homeworld's implied spanish leanings is all.

Oh Gods damnit, the QM said we're halfway to being the Lamentors, so which will curse us with this title? Does it truly matter as we send our Lads to doom for salvation?

Grand Quixote decision
To be clear, The question is whether Serr will leave things be or make an active effort to dispel the planet's founding myths.

The former option is simply to accept things as they are. It's currently a very extroverted sort of culture where they strongly believe in silly things like chivalry, tradition, and courtly love.

The latter option means Serr is going to introduce some cynicism to the world but he will build them back up. It'll be a much more introverted sort of strength though. Much less dominated by those ideals of chivalric romanticism.

Neither outlook is mechanically superior. The point of planetary decisions is that you get to make a choice and get to shape the planet and chapter beyond the will of the dice.

Fun fact! These are meant to be rough crystallizations of the split between Part 1 Don Quixote and Part 2. Specifically DQ pre and post Knight of Mirrors.

I am 100% on board with a skeleton knight showing up and helping out this chapter on occasion, like say if their homeworld ever comes under attack.
Not a skeleton knight, remember this was the pilot of an Imperial Knight. As in one of those giant warmachines. So it'd be like a ghostly apparition surrounding and animating the wrecked ancient machine.

But yes the whole "lionized fraud returns and has to (un)live up to his falsified reputation" thing is great.

I love the delusional fantastical dreams of the planet the way it is and I think they would make for a magnificent and entertaining Chapter.

It's in grasping for the impossible that you become legend and inspire others.

...I also just want the other legions to think that these guys are weird, because that'd be funny to see.

So this chapter is be hunters of pirates, Xenos and dark elder correct?

On one hand telling the truth so they wouldn't be blindsided by dark elder being asses, but on the other hand we have a super seer (and more that will become seers) that will spot that shit so the idea of having them be chivalrous because any backstabbing or unhonorable behavior will either be seen through and any meeting with wild beasts with little reasoning are to be slain and recorded as a great deed

- [ ] Chapter Name: The Forever Knights
- [ ] Symbol: A sword pointed down, bisecting an infinity symbol
- [ ] Colors: White and Gold
- [ ] Chapter Creed: "Our deeds will live forever!", Battle Cry: "I have seen my death, and it is not today!"
- [ ] Supreme Adaptability: Rather then focus upon one specialty this Chapter believes in superior discipline and training. Each Battle Brother should be capable of acting within any role upon the battlefield as required.
- [ ] Additional Dreadnaughts: This Chapter will be granted additional dreadnaught chassis and has limited access to the venerable Contemptor Pattern Dreadnaught.

You have only Deepstrike Doctrine, but you can pick two for that section. Maybe Apprenticeships? Expanded Chaplaincy? Masters of Melee? Good choice with the Expanded Reliquary though.

I know there's the urge to save it, but the Gloriana-class ship feels pretty perfect for the chapter.

Between the mission of being highly mobile pirate hunters, the free Expanded Fleet trait, and the Swift Currents (Void), it feels like it would take a lot of luck to get a Chapter that could use the ship nearly as well as this one can.

20 kilometer ship named the Rocinante roaming around, filled to the brim with death-hungry thrill-seekers is a huge deterrent. Also a huge symbol for the Navy and citizens to rally around, especially with the charisma traits.
