Oh God, it's Abbadon isn't it? Well at least our gang here payed him back tenfold during the 13th Black Crusade.

Abby really do be the abusive older Brother who despite hating our shared terrible father, ends up the exact same as him.

In more funny reflections, i can just imagine our lads coming into the 13th Black Crusade and just having a blast as they ruin the Black Legion's day.

Question is what the hell happened that caused those two to go like this

Bronze Midir was the first non-fungus in history to make a decent claim at being a genuine Warboss (rather then someone hiring a bunch of Freebootaz to fight for them). He had a Waaagh forming around him and had intended to lead it to Armageddon. His intent was to ride that power up and use it to challenge The Beast. Slay the Twin God's Champion and weaken the absolute hold The Twin Gods have on Orkish souls. That was part of his pitch to the Orks that followed him. He offered them a god who was apathetic to their status in the Orkish hierarchy and would reward them for doing what they wished.

For obvious reasons, Gork and Mork were not happy with the idea that this random humie was stealing their boyz or trying to break open their domain. Khorne was torn between saving his investment and punishing the failure. The Twins did not hesitate to decide for him.

Their low rolls were mostly in scene setting or in relatively low stakes areas. Funnily enough they almost always rolled better as the battles went on. Created a very natural arc in them facing the Black Crusade.

I'm really happy about the 'leaving the dragons be' option winning! It's a nice change of pace from hunting them, exterminating them, or (though this wasn't an offered choice) outright taming them that you'd expect from a narrative like this.

I bet this leads to some cool cultural stuff for the chapter—here's hoping!

I had actually been a bit bummed while I was writing it out. I had been absolutely certain no one would even give it the time of day, much less it actually winning.

I am very excited to work with this...

with this being under for the home world I have to wounder if the invading force ran into some, wildlife problems, so to speek

...It also meant that the Dragons got their own roll to see how badly they mauled the invaders.

They did well.

Abby really do be the abusive older Brother who despite hating our shared terrible father, ends up the exact same as him.

Abaddon has just enough good left in him that it makes him so much worse. I like to imagine his moments of genuine kindness get twisted or rebuked and he uses that to avoid introspection. For instance, he sent a messenger to Apollyon as an apology for wronging his younger brother. He had full intent to bring him into the inner circle even. Apollyon rewarded said consideration by sending back a mutilated corpse. Kind of set the tone for Abby's dealings with your chapter.

I think he genuinely wants The Sons of Cerberus to join him every step of the way. Unfortunately it's buried beneath his blinding rage at the Imperium resurrecting his legion. So what actually happens is that Abby says all the wrong things, gets rejected and doubles down on trying to murder you.

Not the least of which is because you're not really Loyalist Sons of Horus. You're what the Legion might have been without their father's overwhelming influence.

Always be yourself unless you can be a dragon in which case be a dragon, or rather keep the dragons.
I think he genuinely wants The Sons of Cerberus to join him every step of the way. Unfortunately it's buried beneath his blinding rage at the Imperium resurrecting his legion and the fact they better hold to the very ideals Abaddon once claimed to value.
The fact that they are named after the title Loken took also probably doesn't help, but no matter I am sure The Sons of Cerberus will make true on their battle cry.

-Midir's Last Stand: 8 (Khorne intervenes...I'm genuinely unsure how though...)
--Is Khorne helping or hurting? (DC: 50): 2 (It'z Gork 'n Mork with da steel chair!)
---Does Midir get a special punishment?: 85 (An example is made)

so the question here is, who's making the example? I could actually see the twins wait for Midir to be raised up as a demon prince or something, only to make a godamn point of stepping on him hard. Stealing their boyz is like the one thing that they get legitimately mad about after all.

edit: man, how did I missed the QM post explicitly saying the orks where the ones to step in.

Well, know we just need on Waagh quest about making war bands. I decide that going green is manly and fun at a bar fight. For the hoard! (Opps wrong one) Waaaaagh!

By coincidence, I made this meme 3 days ago. IDK how to insert images there.
When you write posts, there's window above the text box, and in that window there are edition options like bold or underline.

There's also option to insert images, just click it and insert URL of the image you want to share.

Also, next time, I recommend Image uploader, if you want to share some images.

Also, also. I really dislike this meme format.

Update will probably take a few days. I'm working all week so I'm going to be a bit more dead then usual.

I didn't actually commit to who gives him his punishment // got his soul after the beat down. I have a few ideas so it all depends on what feels right when I get to that section.

So I'm guessing Herostratus got entombed in a Dreadnaught @Dream Logic and if so was he still helpful for the chapter before and after his entombment?

I try to frame things so that a low roll means you can still do cool things, just that it comes at cost (or is somewhat limited).

He'll have his moment to shine.

... This probably infuriates Abaddon even more, doesn't it? Like, this Chapter is more or less the Imperium deciding to show off that all the failures of the Sons of Horus are because of Horus and that those who followed him into Treason are 'tainted' by never stepping away from him. Even Abaddon with all his efforts to crush the memory of Horus is still lesser than what he should have been because he only did this after Horus had been slain and the truth of his failure made apparent by the collapse of the Traitors in the Eye of Terror during the Legion Wars.

It's honestly quite interesting to see it in offical fiction, Abbadon does have some semblance of what made him famous and respected as a Loyalist.

Like, I recently got my copy of The End and the Death V3 (I ordered that bitch in April, it only just arrived), and honestly, after Horus died? There was a time when maybe Loken could've convinced him to attempt to redeem himself and not run to the Eye of Terror with the SoH and such.

Naturally, Erebus ruined it by killing Loken (And giving birth to Samus).

Like, there's a lot of pathos being given to a guy who half the fans mock for having his arms fall off. He truly feels like a superior Warmaster then Horus, and isn't that a damning statement?

so anyone got any ideas for what can be done with alpha legion gene seed
Well, we could make a great anti-Renegade Chapter, that manipulates Chapters that has gone rogue, but didn't fall to Chaos, and either weaken them, destroy them while using them as cannon fodder for other threats or even support them, preventing them from going Chaos, and instead helping them, making long-term investment in the form of whatever pirate kingdom those Renegades will form, indirectly defending the Imperium, while keeping themselves "free" from it.

We can also, create Chapter great at stopping and recognizing mind-manipulation, influencing powers and metaphysical corruption, and searching for those threats, before they snowball. Place them on the planet enslaved by mind-controlling aliens and they will from the beginning know how to deal with enemies like Genestealers, Nagi, or Chaos/C'tan cults, being two step ahead of them, not the other way around.

We could also use them for Stormlord request, they entire existence just one, big, mind-game against Necron Overlord, and using his pride against him.

Hiatus: At least for now. New
Hey good people.

I'm putting the thread on hiatus for now.

I want to come back to it, but I don't have it in me right now. Maybe in a few weeks or months? I very much want to finish The Sons of Cerberus at least. It's just that the past few weeks (and days especially) have been rough and I think 40k is just a bit too much for me at the moment.

Honestly, I don't know if this is going to be for just a few days or if I'm just going to delay into the endless future.

Regardless of that it's been a pleasure. Thank you everyone who came along for the ride and helped me try my hand at this.

With luck I'll be back with this or another quest soon enough.
