[] Plan It Takes Two To Play Hide And Seek
-[] Of Fate and the Forgotten (Tzeentch, Imperium): 'Outis the Journeyman' seeks The Thousand Sons in the hopes that sharing sorcerous knowledge might break Tzeentch's hold. Meanwhile the Alpha Legion has been spotted across the Segmentum Pacificus laying the groundwork for...something. Whatever the Dark Angels found has proven dire, and The Lion himself now seeks to settle the matter. (This crisis will progress in two turns)
-[] Raven Guard: The Sons of Corax were never a numerous legion. Thanks to the Alpha Legion's machinations they never will be. Still, there is now enough genestock for you to draw upon. The Raven Guard are the pre eminent stealth and ambush specialists of the legions with an unusually pragmatic mindset despite their high minded ideals.

You can never be too careful with the Alpha Legion or with Tzeentchians. Both put together? Better to settle it now before there's a chance for some bullshit to happen where they interfere with efforts at countering a different threat. And it just so happens that the Raven Guard are the sneakiest loyalist stock we've got.

[] Plan Leave Nothing Alive
-[] The Cursed Leviathans (Nurgle, Tyranids): It seems that you were not the only one concerned with the stalemate in the Segmentum Ultima. The endless cycles of death and rebirth have drawn Rotigus the Rainfather into realspace once more. Not even the Tyranid's enhanced evolution can outpace their combined creativity. it is only a matter of time before Hydross Venom Blood rules the oceans of Tyran. One shudders to think of what Nurgle's chosen will make from such a cauldron. (This crisis will progress in two turns)
-[] Dark Angels: The Lion's get were the original Space Marines and have much to show for it. In terms of battle honors none of the remaining legions can compare nor can they boast such an expensive panoply of ancient technologies. Any successor of theirs can expect expanded access to specialist wargear including the venerable Terminator Armor pattern. Personality wise they tend towards brooding introspection and somewhat caustic demeanors. Their are some worries about how closely they hew to their successor chapters but few dare criticize that most loyal of legions.

The best way to deal with Nurglites is with the most destructive and thorough of weaponry, and the best way to deal with Tyranids is with daring kill teams penetrating into the heart of the enemy and slaying their synapse creatures. It just so happens that the Dark Angels are known for both.

Dark Angels sound kinda hilarious for the rat infestation.
Can already hear them dusting off the really fun Dark Age tech.

So anyway, Crusader fleet for the Salamanders to hunt down Nurgle and Tyrannids? Both of them are really good at permanently devastating a planet, even when they lose. And I like the idea of rapid response sending the Salamanders in every time the Nids invade from a different corner of the galaxy.

Their endless boasting is not entirely without merit. Second to the Dark Angels in The Emperor's trust, second to the Blood Angels in a melee, distant second to the scouts of the White Scars...they will serve well. Though their gene stock is noted as being extremely temperamental, they will be smaller in number then their brethren.

-[] Waaagh and Prejudice (Orks, Khorne): Bronze Midir has been blessed with skill and hubris in equal measure. The iconoclast is not content with his own god's displeasure. Instead he seeks to challenge the Twin Gods for the souls of their children. He has made a throne from the corpses of eight Warbosses and raises the banner of eternal war. I think that the Leviathans or Prejudice are good things to put greater focus on currently. And then I think that for either of them Space Wolves can be designed to be quite interesting for either option, a smaller more focused group that also takes to a bit more biological tinkering if you accept the bit of risk to how they may look. Plus they are just excellent at what they do, second in many aspects a bit of focus any which way seems prone for success. I believe we can make a really cool faction with a Wolves as the basis to tackle either of these that isn't near the first idea that comes to mind.

I thought the Tyranids didn't start appearing in the galaxy until a good few millennia later. Definitely not when the Primarch were still around anyway.

I really like the Nids but they (and a lot of 40k's factions) don't actually show up for the better part of ten thousand years post heresy. So I'm often going to introduce them in a somewhat reduced threat if I think having them around would be interesting/fun in whatever context I can spin up for them.

In this case I thought that Tyran holding a population of feral Tyranids was a plausible enough reason for them to show up as part of the crisis and would be a fun interplay with what I had planned for Hydross originally.

They were sent backwards in time by the Chaos Gods

The Chaos Gods broke the timeline in ways I'm still wrapping my head around.

-[X] White Scars: An often underappreciated Legion, the White Scars have served as pathfinders and fast attacks elements across the Crusade and Heresy alike. Less famously their Storm Seers served as one of the backbones of the original Librarian programs. They possess a great well of calm alongside a capacity for sudden and tremendous violence. Such things have earned them a reputation as savages from those who would praise the same from more traditional Astartes.

The sons of Ultramar take great pride in their adaptability against on field conditions and serving ably in just about any role. I already made these two plans under different names
Plan It Takes Two To Play Hide And Seek
Plan Leave Nothing Alive
So just to prevent any miscount, I'd recommend switching the names over to mine, seeing as they're the same plans.

There's really no good reason to think that. Some Necrons woke up earlier than the rest and Necrons have enough wierd technology, that even if they are temporaly displaced, it could have been their own doing instead of Chaos.
There is a good reason: because it is funny to think about. And this isn't just some random Necron, it's the Stormlord, AKA Imotekh, and Imotekh doesn't wake up until M41.

Look at the tags. Events can go in different direction than in official material and again, time travel could have been Imotekh own doing instead of Chaos.

I really don't find the idea of "Chaos is behind everything ever!!!" to be funny. The opposite really, you don't need Chaos for wierd and wacky stuff to happen and putting them everywhere is very tiring to me.

It's better than "coincidentally, everything that should be in the far future keeps somehow appearing in M31 without clear reason" to me. It's also sorta meta, with the Chaos Gods being the cause of it all essentially being the stand-in for "because the QM wants to have X things happen" because, since the C'tan are out of action, they're the closest things to authorial power in the setting.

Again, Imotekh could have done it without Chaos Gods throwing him into the past. Speaking of C'tan, one of them could have done this as well. C'tan shard escapes and throws Imotekh into the past, here, done. It's as simple as that. Or something even more simple, and in this version of events, Imotekh woke up earlier.

Again, I just dislike placing some authorial power, as you described it, to Chaos. I just find the idea that Chaos Gods are actually behind everything, to just be bad, and both official material and many fan works are already saturated with Chaos, I just find it tiring.

We don't have acces to Space Wolf geneseed and may never this have been mentioned already and in My opinión the other wolves are more intersting for a chapter

The more separate circumstances that are added in to create these wild scenarios, the less viable it becomes. These are all contrivances for the sake of having more enemies to fight in the years closely following the Horus Heresy, but choosing a different contrivance for every instance does it no favors imo. These threats are all here because the QM wants them to be, that's all, having it all be on the Chaos Gods at least leaves it with a "Oh that's just a thing they like to do I guess" vibe, especially since this already happened in the case of the Chimera Lords.

I also dislike Chaos wank mind you, but this level of coincidence is just not vibing with me.

I agree. Hopefully we can get a veteran of the Siege of Terra to lead the Chapter. Someone who is really good at entrenching, retreating, then entrenching once more.

...Did you just leak my notes? o_O

Ah sorry wrong Chapter creation quest

If it's any comfort, I have to triple check which thread I'm in and I literally run this one.

I kind of wanna do a Space Wolf run, you knwo?

I feel you there. Half the reason I made this quest was because I wanted to play with the Space Vikings.

I'm trying to balance my desire for novelty and creativity vs coherence to the setting as we all know it. Though I've likely missed the mark with the last update.

To be clear, the Chaos Gods aren't just playing jump rope with the timeline. That was a one time thing based off a confluence of factors coming together and me repurposing something I already had in the wings. I'm going to try to focus on untangling that knot for the next couple of turns.

Imotekh is an honest mistake. I thought he was a part of the Council of Awakening instead of just being the resolution to a specific dynasty's succession crisis in m41 (oddly enough no major characters seem to have been on it). In this universe the Council saw things spiraling and sought out their people's greatest general much more proactively then in canon.

The Nids on Tyran are not part of a hive fleet. They're a feral colony that would be ignored, absorbed into the ecosystem (ala Fenris's Krakens) or went extinct by the time the Imperium visits the world sometime in the latter half of the m30's.

...Apologies but we've got one more hour to go.

I just wanted to get that all off my chest before voting started up.
