  • [X] Plan: FRIENDSHIP
    - [X] All of them: Yes, the Mournival ultimately failed, and the Warrior Lodges were always dens of corruption. However they existed in response to real issues within the culture of the legions. Issues that the chapter structure has alleviated but not solved. Instead of authority flowing from the center, it might be constructed from the bottom up. With leadership chosen by the needs of the moment and the consent of their brothers. The Lunar Wolves would be particularly suited to such an experiment. (Gain Trait: Brotherhood of Equals)
-[x] Jundyr: A rather novel death world. Whereas most are defined by a multipolar assortment of flora, fauna and environmental factors, this one has dragons. There are a variety of other beasts too of course, but nothing near so incredible. Within the jungles they are avoided, but upon the mountains? They are hunted. With ingenuity and teamwork teams of hunters perform feats that the one cannot. This is a people defined by adaptability and trust more then the stereotypical hyper competence. (Planetary Decision: The Sky Tyrants)

    - [X] Tenebris Silva: This planet is an artificial death worlds. The planet is host to a variety of invasive species from feral orks to giant grox, Venusian man eaters, Nyxian night terrors and the odd Catachan barking toad. Originally the planet was meant to serve as a training ground but casualty rates proved too dire for that to be practical. It has since been colonized with repentant criminals. While soldiers drawn from this population are more then capable there is some disagreements on what traits to select for within the population. The most common split being whether to focus upon raw skill or try to engender specific mental states. (Planetary Decision: Forging the Crucible)
    [X] Plan: Faith and Flex

-[X] Durga: A world of cold deserts and buried hopes. The people of this world were promised paradise once. Though the Seventeenth was recalled before they could make good on their word. In their ignorance the people of Durga believed themselves to blame for their abandonment. For generations they have labored for redemption, to expunge what was base from themselves. They would be honored for their foremost sons to become angels. If granted their paradise, they would take to the stars with unmatched zeal. (Planetary Decision: A Place for the Faithful)
    [X] Plan: Drake-Herding Wolves

-[X] Aidan: A land of harsh mountains, gentle valleys and man eating sheep. The soldiers of Aidan are known for their discipline and boldness upon the field. Amongst the Astra Militarum they are the foremost experts in orbit to ground operations and shock assaults upon fortified positions. It is often said that by the time the astartes are finished with their pre batttle rituals, that the Red Dragons will have have won the war, secured the peace, and trained a replacement. An exaggeration, but only just. (Planetary Decision: Raising Dragons)
    [X] Plan: Call Me Ishmael
-[X] Champion Chi Tu, The Stalwart: Originally he had been contented. He was granted respect, battle and a place of honor within the legion. It had blinded him. While serving amongst the White Scars he ignored the works of his brothers. He thought their words born of mere discontent rather then treachery. It was only when they declared rebellion that he understood how far they had fallen. Then he slew the brothers three in battle, and vowed to shun glory forevermore. (Gain Trait: The Weight of Duty)
-[X] Ithician: An island world caught in a long and distant orbit from it's star of Penelope. The people of this world suffer under an endless battery of storms above, predations of sea monsters below and a dozen warring city states besides. The people of this world are a clever if superstitious lot with much stock being placed in prophecy and divination. They are dedicated to the study of all things, such that they might learn direct fate itself. (Planetary Decision: Diviner's Intervention)
    [X] Plan: Shepard of War
-[X] Herostratus, The Anti-Theist: Let it be known that even the most ardent supporters of the Imperial Truth thought that this one was unbearable. With many of his brothers disappointed when he remained loyal. Alas, he was fanatically dedicated to the Emperor's vision. His absolute contempt proved shield and sword against warp craft and sorcery both. Though there is one irregularity in his service record, The Lord Sigilite pre emotively banned him from setting foot upon the world of Artemisia....though no reason was ever given. (Gain Trait: Iconoclast's Creed)
-[X] Aidan: A land of harsh mountains, gentle valleys and man eating sheep. The soldiers of Aidan are known for their discipline and boldness upon the field. An exaggeration, but only just. (Planetary Decision: Raising Dragons)
    [X] Plan: David vs Goliath
-[X] Captain Apollyon, The Messenger: Once known as 'Little Abaddon' this one had risen far and fast by imitating the First Captain. Unfortunately the Despoiler cared not for his reflection. Apollyon was exiled to the scouting companies and swiftly forgotten by those in power. Humbled yet resentful, he came into his own. When Abaddon offered him a place by his side, Apollyon lacked the words to respond. As such he contented himself with unleashing a campaign of sabotage and murder upon his traitorous kin. (Gain Trait: Silent Heralds)
-[X] Gemini-4: A set of colonized asteroid-shipyards in the model of Sol's Jovian Moons. Lacking the same level of infrastructure the people of this station instead specialize in cannibalizing hulls and technologies. As such they are known to create recombinant hulls in the vein of space hulks and have developed the Velite type Terminator armor which sacrifices protection for speed and replicability. They are a capable and pragmatic people, if somewhat unorthodox in their thinking. (Planetary Decision: Limited Resources)
[X] Plan: Call On The Wolves
-[X] Champion Chi Tu, The Stalwart: Originally he had been contented. He was granted respect, battle and a place of honor within the legion. It had blinded him. Chapter 4 Part 3: Training, Equipment, and Dragons
[X] Plan: FRIENDSHIP

Despite all odds the three candidates have chosen to share the powers and responsibility of their position. While such councils are relatively uncommon their solution to it is even odder. They intend for the Chapter to select it's leadership via consensus amongst their battle brothers. While such a thing has some precedent it has not been used on such a wide scale before. Then again, the Lunar Wolves always favored at least the appearance of equality amongst their ranks. Only time will tell if they can succeed in their efforts.

In terms of homeworld Jundyr was a natural choice. Traditionally death worlds produce high quality aspirants which can more reliably ascend into the ranks of astartes. Though it is a very minor difference compared to their counterparts from so called 'civilized worlds'. More important is the culture that a death world tends to imbue upon it's children. Unfortunately that tends to result in paranoiac, depressive, and hyper-violent tendencies consistent with long term exposure to traumatic experiences. Jundyr has proven an exception to that rule. It's people have maintained a relatively decent quality of life despite their harsh environment. With life defined more by the communal living than mass slaughter. In large part because this is because they keep a nomadic existence away from the planet's greatest dangers. Those being the Dragons of course. They're a constant threat to the people of this world. With large and settled habitation proving impossible in large swathes of the planet.

While they have given the planet a unique culture and character...such a thing would likely remain even without that degree of outside pressure. The question is not whether Jundyr will have monsters, but what purpose they serve. To guard the wilds and sharpen it's people? To test the mettle of the worthy? Or should they be cast out, and the world made anew?

What will the Chapter do about the Sky Tyrants?

[] Leave them be: Their numbers have been thinned sufficiently for human habitation. They should be only an occasional threat to the tribes and smaller villages, easily avoided by most. They will remain as teachers of wisdom and guardians of tradition.(Gain Trait: Hic Svnt Dracones)
[] Hunt them: They are fearsome beats, yet beasts they remain. As such squads of initiates will be tasked with slaying a dragon by whatever means they can. Such a mission will teach them to be more then mere soldiers. (Gain Trait: Clad in Glory)
[] Exterminate them: The people of Jundyr have lived under threat for too long. You will destroy that which hunts them and drive back the beasts into the fringes. It will be the work of generations but this world will be made safe for mankind. (Gain Trait: The Better World)
---------------
Chapter Traits

Tip of the Spear (Lunar Wolves): Marines of this Chapter have a preference towards sudden and overwhelming force whenever possible. As such they tend to favor brief periods of high intensity warfare, carried out with whatever forces they have on hand.

Favored Sons (Lunar Wolves): The Emperor smiles upon this Chapter in all things. As such marines of this chapter are known to be blessed with skill and fortune. Furthermore they easily find allies amongst Imperial institutions.

Monster Hunters (Jundyr): Marines of this chapter specialize in tracking and killing individual behemoths. While they are most proficient against non-human monstrosities this skillset serves them well even against more mundane foes.

Pathfinders (Jundyr): There is an art to finding a way from point A to point B. Doubly so when considering such things as stealth, speed, safety and ease of travel. While hardly glamorous such skills are always useful.

Brotherhood of Equals (Chapter Master): Leadership in this Chapter is not determined by seniority or rank. Instead the battle brothers select Force Commanders from their own ranks. While some consider such a system unwieldy, it ensures each voice is heard in turn.
---------------
[] Chapter Name
[] Chapter Symbol
[] Chapter Colors
[] Chapter Creed//Battle Cry
---------------
Training Options (Choose Two)

[] Veteran Scouts: Battle Brothers of this Chapter form their own dedicated Scout Squads and are used to take upon missions too difficult for their neophyte brethren. Improving their ability to perform recon, stealth, and assassinations in the field.

[] Apprenticeships: Each Battle Brother of this Chapter is expected to oversee the training of one or more initiates that catch their eye. Such measures will reinforce specialization within the chapter, for better and worse.

[] Specialists Companies: This Chapter dedicates each company to a specific specialty or method of war. Common examples are Terminator companies, fast attack elements and void warfare specialists. Though the specifics will naturally vary by Chapter and need.

[] Masters of Melee: Members of this Chapter show preternatural skill with melee weapons. The most skilled of them can pose a challenge to even the fiercest daemonic champion.

[] Sharpshooters: Marines of this chapter boast a particular skill at marksmanship and a familiarity with all sorts of ranged weaponry. From pistols to bolters or rocket launchers they show tremendous talent.

[] Drilled Discipline: This Chapter trains for almost every possible situation they might face. As such they have a high general competence and are resistant to onsets of fear or panic. Whether it be supernatural or mundane complications these marines will be prepared for whatever happens.

[] Deepstrike Doctrine: This Chapter is particularly capable at performing orbital drops, Terminator teleporter assaults, and other such 'death or glory' maneuvers. Woe betides the foe who thought themselves safe.

[] Breacher-Siege Squads: The practice of dedicated point-assault squads has fallen out of favor against an increased focus upon maneuver warfare. However they remain a potent option for fighting through entrenched positions on land or in the void.

[] Diplomatic Cadres: Marines of this chapter understand how to interact with and manipulate both individuals and the larger systems they create. As such they achieve the rare feat of being socially competent Astartes. Good for influencing others and rallying them to their cause.

[] Greater Librarium: The Librarians of this Chapter have proven to be both plentiful and powerful. They are more able to endure the dangers of their psyker nature. Furthermore they will be able develop their own unique specialties distinct from the standard patterns.

[] Expanded Chaplaincy: This Chapter fields additional and more effective Chaplains. They will prove more effective at inspiring their brothers to greatness upon the field and helping them find peace outside it.

[] Brotherhood of Mars: The Techmarines of this Chapter are fully inducted into the Cult Mechanicus. Displaying both greater ability and earning closer ties to Martian brotherhood.

[] Advanced Apothecarion: Apothecaries oversee the implantation and harvesting of their Chapter's gene seed from the fallen. If granted additional recourses then they would be able to expand into research or adaption rather then merely attending to the Chapter's upkeep.
-----------
Equipment, Vehicle and Reliquary Options (Choose One)

[] Test-Slaves: This chapter uses servitors, criminals, and other stock to farm their gene seed on mass. Such measures are unseemly and create lesser recruits but will allow them to rapidly replenish themselves from any losses.

[] Expanded Assault Companies: This Chapter has a fondness for jetpacks, and are noted for fielding extra Assault Squads on the battlefield.

[] Expanded Devastator Companies: This Chapter has greater then usual access to heavy weapons and utilizes a larger number of Devastator squads.

[] Additional Bikes: This chapter has a large contingent of Combat Bikes. Ideal for Hit and Run strikes, it will be very difficult to pin down such a force.

[] Additional Rhinos: This Chapter is able to field a a larger contingent of Rhino troop transports. Their humble reputation belies their true utility upon the field.

[] Additional Predators: The Predator trades the Rhino's troop transport capability for extra arms and armor. Serving as the Astarte's main battle tank, an expanded regiment will serve well in armored warfare.

[] Additional Thunderhawks: More Thunderhawk troop transports will be granted to this chapter. Those fielded will also be given superior arms and armor so that they can better act as air support and skirmishing assets.

[] Additional Dreadnaughts: This Chapter will be granted additional dreadnaught chassis and has limited access to the venerable Contemptor Pattern Dreadnaught.

[] Additional Terminators: This Chapter can field enough suits of Terminator armor to equip a significant portion of it's Veteran Astartes. Such detachments are capable of winning almost any battle...if they can be used effectively.

[] Expansive Forges: This Chapter's Fortress Monastery features an expanded forge complex. Thus marines are better able to maintain and customize their gear to a greater degree then their cousins might.

[] Expanded Reliquary: The Chapter will be granted enough relics to equip it's greatest champions along with the facilities to hold and maintain many more.

[] Expanded Fleet: This Chapter's fleet of voidships will be reinforced with additional Strike Cruisers and a variety of escorts to support them.

[] Auxiliary Forces: Whether it be Chapter Serfs, Imperial Guard or something more esoteric this chapter has a reliable stable of worthy allies to accompany them onto any battlefield.

[] Greater Flagship: This Chapter's flagship is a Glorianna class Battle Barge, a truly irreplicable relic predating even the Great Crusade. (May only be taken once, ever)

--------------------------------
For the record, Jundyr has dragons but the chapter doesn't need to be named after or even reference them.

Sad to say I killed Supreme Adaptability. DD covers similar ground but I feel like it has more of a flavor hook for me to work with.

For an example of what specialists companies does look at the Dark Angels vs Codex compliant chapters. They both go even heavier on first company terminators but have things like the raven wing and the various other orders on hand.

Also a bit dead on my feet. So yay. Have fun, be polite. I'll try to answer any questions and correct any errors.

I am cursed and blessed with interesting dice.

While officially the Orks have no sacred numbers that two was too serendipitous to ignore. As such I am interpreting it as the Twin God's intervening in your favor (IE, against Midir). Please thank them for kindly saving you from an eternity of Discount Skarbrand.

Otherwise I had planned for you to face World Eaters, but you got something else instead.

Fun Fact: If Midir had lived long enough he was going to gradually become more draconic as he came closer to rivaling The Beast. So it's a fun bit of irony you chose Jundyr for the chapter that killed him.

Fun Fact 2: Sic Svnt Dracones is Latin for "Here Be Dragons". Used to denote places beyond the 'known world' (Usually covering Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East out to The Persian Empire). Though the more commonly used phrase was actually "Sic Svnt Leones" or "here be lions".

Genuinely shocked you guys chose to leave the dragons be. It'll make for some interesting things though.

Hiatus: At least for now.
Hey good people.

I'm putting the thread on hiatus for now.

I want to come back to it, but I don't have it in me right now. Maybe in a few weeks or months? I very much want to finish The Sons of Cerberus at least. It's just that the past few weeks (and days especially) have been rough and I think 40k is just a bit too much for me at the moment.

Honestly, I don't know if this is going to be for just a few days or if I'm just going to delay into the endless future.

Regardless of that it's been a pleasure. Thank you everyone who came along for the ride and helped me try my hand at this.

With luck I'll be back with this or another quest soon enough.
