So today, I want to bring attention to something specific with the recently updated missions of New Dawn, Four Seasons, and Golbal Justice. More specifically in its rewards should we do them and succeed.
(Unlocks mission Long Shadows of Night, Unlocks mission The Air in the Valley, Unlocks mission Grand Theft Person, Chance of formal alliance with New Dawn, Chance of New metahuman DNA, Intel about potential location for a new Wonderland, Chance of Eventual Income, Unlocks University District as potential territory for Justice Unlimited) [1 Turns Until Expiration]
With the crit success from Lady Leizi, we now know that New Dawn is actually in dire straits and only has 5 active metahumans in service. Should we not take this, we can expect Wolong and whoever remains to be overwhelmed by the Wonderland inmates terrorizing their area. It is notable how this is the only mission that visibly unlocks other questline, likely linked with the 3 former inmates Shroud, Third Person, and Abarimon, who I slightly suspect have someone leading and collaborating their efforts. Whether it's just those three or someone we've yet to know about is beyond us atm. The main drawback of picking this from what I'm seeing atm is Wolong questioning where Lady Leizi is getting her metahuman staff from, and this is a question he'll probably continue interrogating as we gain more members till we give him the actual answer.
I would also like to highlight the underlined sections of the quote above, of which I personally consider to be the most important portion of the reward. Having a formal alliance with New Dawn would be extremely beneficial, since while they have a smaller body count than we initially realize, they're still the group with the biggest manpower of the three hero groups, however minuscule the difference may be. They also would have the most metahuman DNA accessible as noted by Lady Leizi before in Issue #1.0. Most important of them however is the potential location for a new Wonderland. While having a new prison location to place metahuman inmates is crucial, the one I want to know the most is the current status of Valkyrie. I personally believe Valkyrie is one of the keys to finding out the mystery behind Leviathan.
Four voices. One unfathomably large and low; a crushing pressure who would erase them all without noticing. Another, high and sweet and full of rage. A third, deluded and cunning, begging for all, unearned. A fourth, confused and hurt and trying to still troubled waters the way you smoothed out wrinkles on a sheet.
To be clear, I think all three missions have links that will eventually lead to different answers of the same mystery that is Leviathan and the 3 other voices. And since we know according to Nora that Valkyrie is the "high and sweet and full of rage", I believe she is one of the direct answers we are looking for. Of course we also have to figure out how to get that without getting killed by her, but that's for another time.
Villains: Wonderland inmates Shroud, the Third Person, Abarimon. Possible link to Valkyrie?
(Chance of recruiting Hiver, Intel about Powers, Chance of intel about Scarlet Maturity's true power, Chance of new metahuman DNA, Chance of Income, Chance of +1 to control of OID) [1 Turns Until Expiration]
After their own sidestory issue, I'll admit I'm not as enthused anymore on taking their mission, especially knowing full well it's a trap. With that said, this doesn't mean we should take it out of consideration. One of its immediate rewards should we succeed is the recruitment of Hiver, the one moral person we know of the group. Should we not take this mission, while I'm unsure what would be the status of Été and Primteps afterwards, I'm of the opinion that Hiver would likely be discovered leaking info to us and be killed. I will also note that this is seemingly going on at the Old Industrial District, which is Justice Unlimited unclaimed territory. That's something I personally find concerning, and makes me think there's more happening other than the elimination of Four Seasons, tho I'll admit this might just be paranoia speaking. We're obviously being targetted since our group is believed to be in a weak spot currently, and since this is happening after that mission with Dr. Ibis' lab, I think we should assume that they'd know about Black Swan by now.
Additionally, we have the potential of gaining intel on Scarlet Maturity himself and how his power operates. I cannot emphasize enough how huge that is, as I'm of belief that a clash with him is inevitable. Might not be now or next turn or the turn after that, but it will eventually happen. Once that time comes, we better be prepared, especially from someone who managed to kill a metahuman with X-class powerlevel (Apiary). Moreover, intel about Powers is fairly significant as we not only gain info on their members, but also possibly link us to info on Dominion. The Dominion questline interrogates the mystery of Faust and his intentions from pulling Powers back from QZ, as well as his knowledge on Leviathan. Corporations hides many secrets, and atm Dominion is looking like the most dominant one.
Villains: Été and Primtemps maybe? Powers. Scarlet Maturity Direct link to Dominion.
(Chance of new metahuman DNA, Income +2000, Chance of eventually recruiting Stockpile, Intel about why Justiciar was at the QZ, Unlocks Foot of the Ladder as territory for Justice Unlimited) [1 Turns Until Expiration]
Speaking of corporations, this missions seems very corpo-themed. While New Dawn concerns with Wonderland and Four Seasons with Powers, Global Justice seems a bit more broad with their problems. With both Dominion and Osanyín are vying for control over this territory, I feel the demerits of leaving this mission alone would pertain not only the loss of Stockpile but also increased difficulty of access through Ladder. Of the three groups, Global Justice are in the weakest position, with only ordinary soldier holding the line and their only metahuman non-combatants. Of course, from their own issue, we know Stockpile has an EXCEED armor, and should we eventually recruit him, we gain a very versatile metahuman who, while not as experienced as Valiant Silver, will still have her varied bag of tricks that comes with the armor. I would bring up EXCEED-BEYOND that Nora seems to be keeping in her lab but
Nora clears her throat. "Which is my way of saying that I've finished it. The EXCEED-BEYOND armor. It's done."
You freeze in place.
"I know what I did wrong the first time. I'll never be able to use the armor—no metahuman will ever be able to. It will be waiting for you in the Apiary."
I feel that utilizing that for regular use is ill-advised based on that statement. I'll also wouldn't personally count on having Plasticity and Perspective's support unless they join through support staff like Chaucer and Dr. Ibis. While they're not as bad as Joules, we don't know how they feel about Stockpile as a leader nor do we know of their loyalty towards AGL. So for now, we shouldn't count on them as an asset before we actually know them (not that they're much to begin with).
According to mission description, Stockpile is going out of his way to try to meet with us, and while I was always pretty confident on how genuine that desperation is, it is still notable that he's seeking Justice Unlimited in particular when we're still believed to be in a similar position as them. I still believe that Stockpile suspects we have an ace in our sleeve, hence why us in particular. While I'm still wary of how much AGL is keeping an eye on that place in spite of reported negliegence, that Stockpile has a chance of joining us himself has given me a bit of confidence in regards to his allegience.
I will also note that by gaining access to Foot of the Ladder, we gain not only easier access to the Ladder itself, but also possible mission links to both Dominion and Osanyín. In regards to the latter, this perhaps assist us with the mission Hero Worship. And then there's the real meat of this mission: intel about why Justiciar was at QZ. Despite how much this loses them, AGL ordered Justiciar to be at QZ for reasons unknown. For that reason, this one has the most mystery and intrigue to it in my opinion. It interrogates what AGL knows about the Movement and why make such a losing move.
Villains: Corporations, AGL. Indirect link to Dominion. Indirect link to Osanyín.
Well, that's it for me. My brain is about to give, but before I go to bed finally.
Nah, but I'd reward you somehow. Probably juice a quest rewards' income or something.
EDIT: Wait, I'd steal Yrsillar's thing and let you add a +1 to a roll.
Speaking as someone who's in charge of recording all the points for his quest, if that's what you're suggesting, then would those "omake" include all the Ambrosia candidate people have been writing so far, currently threadmarked under Apocrypha?
