…somehow, I feel like no matter which ones we pick, we're still going to be cooked either way. I still want to do the FS, if just for Harrier. He reminds me of my cousin— kinda dorky, in the best way possible.

Since Harrier (and Ophélie pre-death) was clearly planning to leave Four Seasons, Hiver is very likely to be the one who's getting recruited. Chaucer would certainly welcome him to the team.

Eh, screw it. Have a preview of the missions expiring after this turn. Keep in mind, there will be more info on ALL missions as well as new missions to choose from, but I recognize you guys planned around be able to do two of these.

The Dragon of the New Dawn (AP 2, ESPIONAGE 4, REPUTATION 5, OPERATIONS 3): New Dawn was the original, and largest, hero team in Horizon, and the bitter rivals of Justice Unlimited. Like you, they suffered heavy losses stopping the Leviathan from awakening. Now, they're under new management, by Wolong, a.k.a Gabriel Qwan, a metahuman who is a potent force multiplier but individually weak. He now proposes an alliance to keep the city from burning. You could at least hear him out.
Lady Leizi: Wolong has done very, very well hiding how desperate the situation is for New Dawn. No doubt he's worked himself to the bone. Initial estimates put their manpower at between 10-15 metahumans. This is a clever bit of misdirection—he's been mixing up team compositions and listing the names of dead metahumans on reports. New Dawn has five active metahumans including himself. Baba Yaga is fully retired, and Arc hasn't been seen in public since the Movement. On top of that, it seems like nearly every prisoner from Wonderland has converged on their territory—I've gotten reports of Shroud, Third Person, and Abarimon in the Uni District alone. New Dawn is about to collapse, and, given his tone, I think Wolong believes we are in a similar situation and is hoping to recruit us. We may have unexpected leverage.
(Unlocks mission Long Shadows of Night, Unlocks mission The Air in the Valley, Unlocks mission Grand Theft Person, Chance of formal alliance with New Dawn, Chance of New metahuman DNA, Intel about potential location for a new Wonderland, Chance of Eventual Income, Unlocks University District as potential territory for Justice Unlimited) [1 Turns Until Expiration]

Who's Left Behind (AP 2, HIT 6, ESPIONAGE 5, REPUTATION 4): Les Quatre Saisons, or The Four Seasons as they were better known, were a four-person hero team with powers themed around the seasons. They were also all family members. Which makes the death of Automne, their youngest and most powerful member, all the more painful. The team is desperately proud, so the fact they're requesting a meeting and possible alliance with you means they must truly be in dire straits. You can give them a meeting, if for Automne's memory if nothing else.
Lady Leizi: Été sent a message demanding a meeting with her usual insulting demeanor. I believe she blames us for her sister's death and is seeking to extort money. Hiver, oddly enough, sent an extremely unusual private message with a more conciliatory tone: "To be honest, I'm sorry about my cousin. Really isn't the way to talk to people. About the meeting, I hope you won't worry about it. Perhaps we can meet again another time."
(Chance of recruiting Hiver, Intel about Powers, Chance of intel about Scarlet Maturity's true power, Chance of new metahuman DNA, Chance of Income, Chance of +1 to control of OID) [1 Turns Until Expiration]

Olympus has Fallen
(AP 2, ESPIONAGE 4, REPUTATION 6, OPERATIONS 4): Of all the heroic teams in Horizon, Global Justice fared perhaps the worst in the QZ. No loss was more significant than Justicar, their leader whole single-handedly kept the Foot of the Ladder under control. Justicar's death has plunged the area beneath your feet into anarchy and it's not clear help is coming anytime soon. They are now led by Stockpile, an Algernon-type hero who, notably, is nineteen years old. That he's in charge does not bode well to how many of their members survived. No wonder he's willing to pay you just to speak with him.
Lady Leizi: Global Justice is down to three metahumans: Stockpile, Plasticity, and Perspective. Plasticity and Perspective have powers built around enhancing others while Stockpile is a very young Algernon-type. Global Justice has held the line with their non-metahuman security forces, but the writing is on the wall. The people who live in the Foot are flooding AGL with demands for increased metahuman security daily, but it seems the Americans are considering cutting their losses. Dominion and, interestingly enough, Ọsanyìn have been heavily increased their advertising in the Foot in recent days accordingly. Finally, Stockpile's offer of funding is genuine—it appears to be his personal life savings. He's yet to be seen in public without an extensive escort from AGL, when he is seen at all.
(Chance of new metahuman DNA, Income +2000, Chance of eventually recruiting Stockpile, Intel about why Justiciar was at the QZ, Unlocks Foot of the Ladder as territory for Justice Unlimited) [1 Turns Until Expiration]

These are all subject to change until I post the beginning of issue 2.

I feel like helping out Global Justice and New Dawn would be for the best, helping prop up the most failing heroes who need it. The Four Seasons, as bad as their situation is, aren't about to collapse like the other two (as far as I can see).

Hmmmm... interesting....For now the Dragon mission and Olympus mission look the most interesting to me...
But who knows maybe people better at seeimg the writing in the wall can choose the better missions for us, a
So that statement at the end of Whos left behind is ominous....

Scarlet Maturity's true power info is very tempting admittedly, but with the recent issue as well as that latest post, Global Justice has shot up to number 1 for me.

I was worried I wasn't subtle enough with Hiver's message at the end there.

. . . was I too subtle?
It made me feel that either A. Someone else wrote that message or B. Mind control sooo yeah subtle but Years of games has made me doubt when someone says nothimgs wrong/ theres is no war in Ban Zin Ze.

I think you give too many hints, but thank you very much anyways. I noticed it now. I feel super baited by my preconceived perception of Four Seaons

It wasn't really supposed to be hidden. I just thought it would be a cutesy way to pay off the ESPIONAGE crit success.

Oh... damn I did not notice that....
Man is been YEARS since ive seen a "Use every first letter for a meesage" thing...

Chance of intel about Scarlet Maturity's true power

Now that I noticed Hiver's message… I'm a bit scared now.

Who the fuck is Scarlet Maturity? WHAT the fuck is Scarlet Maturity?

…and I thought the R-Train was scary. SM's terrifying.

so 4 seasons want to fuck us over huh. Thanks hiver we promise to meet you later and get you out gwen hands

Edit: I'm officially gonna vote fore New Dawn and Justice. We owe wolong enough for heling form Justice Unlimited. While I think theres a chance we can recruit stockpile and the others as follow up missions. Though gonna need to regain apiary next turn for more hero slots.

Edit: We can probably get a bunch of DNA from new dawn for helping them as concession.

Why the heck would they set a trap?! Aren't we all heroes?! Does she blame Justice Unlimited for Automne's death or something?

New Dawn's situation is also a whole lot worse than I expected. I knew Wolong was hiding how well New Dawn was doing, but to that extent.

I suspect Scarlet Maturity has something over Gwen, maybe Powers took Jean-Luc hostage or something, and this is her following his orders or else.

If you can. This may be your only chance.

But you'd have to give up on Stockpile, who seems desperate.

And the only other altruistic hero organization is about to collapse under the weight of the worst metahumans in the city.

Decisions, decisions.

off hivers gonna get killed huh.

Yup the worst part of being a hero and probably gonna set up our arc boss.

Gods it sucks but numbers game means helping New Dawn and Global Justice.

I just hope Hivers make it out alive even if they end up retiring later on.

Its a mark of a great writer if they can make people engage in theyre works... i know that.... But Bitterman? You. Are. A . Tease

I can kinda get where Gwen's coming from. Poverty's a scary thing, and it seems like she grew up in a abusive household. However, there's a difference between overprotectiveness and literally not letting your little sister finish primary school so you can pawn her off as a trophy wife to some rich executive.

If you can. This may be your only chance.

I do love the way this is structured by the way. Really sells the vibe that we're in a major crisis and that our choices matter and will have consequences.

We have 4 active superheroes, with one of them being strong enough to rank in the top 5. ND has only 5, GJ has 3. We're actually able to talk with them on equal grounds, sad as it is.

New Dawn is under siege by Wonderland villains, and them getting wrecked means more foes and less allies, while helping them out means more heroes and less villains. And considering Wulong is described as a force multiplier... EDIT: Also, the chance to set up another Wonderland, which is pretty important if we don't want to start taking no prisoners, when now isn't a great time for even more escalation.

Global Justice is another opportunity; they have two great support heroes and Stockpile, who we know OOC is a moral hero. What's more, he's another Algernon-type for us to possibly recruit: with his American supporters looking to write off Global Justice and his own stated desire to do what's right (his motivation for joining Global Justice and not going into business or whatever) this is a prime time for us to try and sweep all of them into our organization.

Crap, I knew posting the drafts I would forget something. I added a reward under New Dawn. I did not forget to add anything else to any of the missions.

Here's a reading I have: Global Justice and New Dawn's DNA chances are going to come with a cost.

Obviously, it's safe to assume they've got their corpses of their dead allies store away for some future burial. If we engage with either, we have a chance of getting access to them and their DNA, but we'd have to come clean to them why we want them, explaining Project Prometheus to them. Which would be trading infosec for more profiles to mix and match in our creation, and probably having them go "we want you to make some for us, we'll send people to power up and a broad idea of what we want in them".

There are still benefits to taking Four Seasons mission. Scarlet Maturity is a villain who we'll eventually and inevitably have to take on so having information about how his power works is huge, and must be taken under consideration even if it requires walking into a trap.

With that said, I'll admit New Dawn and Global Justice has become much more enticing-looking.
