As I recall Anasei got got by the guys using that dude with lethal addiction drugs so short of Mendicant being able to best him at that she is hosed.
Sucks but I guess someone has to be the token good guy on team Evil.

I wonder what printemps Normal Potency is it seems like transmutation is the reason it reach potency 6 but it could P2.

Though the big thing about his powers is that its seem to be mainly construct creation unlike Dragonsteeth whic was mainly Energy creation.

@Bitterman So was Maddie's guardian decided on that roll you did, or did you decide it from the start?
I knew from the start. Only one person made sense, and poor Chaucer was due for some screen time.
You are now obligated to give us the ages of Marisa and Mr Chaucer.
They're both in their mid-40s. Maddie was just picking on Mona.
@Bitterman So was this part of the reason why Chaucer didn't seem all that familiar with the inner workings of an Algernon-type? Along with the fact that by the time Gus entered the picture, Chaucer might've been semi-retired at that point?
That and the Rebound isn't common knowledge. Algernon-types don't like talking about it. Yazmin only knew because of her grandfather, and the rest of the original JU only really realized how bad it was when Nora started forgetting things.

An episode of Behind the Hero blares on the TV.
*Happy Noises* Yippe! Hmmm... If this is a tv show I need at least 12 episodes... cant promise Ill get there, but I think im at 6 right now (4 here and 2 I still have not posted) So lets see where the whims of fate (and my hyperactive brain) take us.
Just saw this! Also ahh that was a sweet issue. It seems if all goes well Madeline and Mona will be step sisters. Also that Giant Slayer bio, oof... hmm May need to slightly alter one of the omakes Ive written... or maybe not, Ill see later, once Im not swamped with assigments.

[X] Plan: Gravity Rook

I was planning on something like Gravity rush but I like this one as well

Alright, read through this thread over the last two days, some very nice writing! Thank you for sharing this story with us Bitterman!

As for Opale, personally I'm not a huge fan of space suit as a design aesthetic for her, I feel like something more femme would be a better fit for a recently out trans woman that previously was explicitly barred from picking her own costume. I know that in universe whatever gets voted for would be Opale's choice, not something anyone pushes on her, but I feel like this kind of design would indicate that Opale is very hesitant about her gender expression, which doesn't seem like it meshes well with her jumping straight into Mendicant's super-HRT.
Relatedly, what colours did Abigail's costume feature @Bitterman? I feel like picking up at least one of them would be appropriate.

Also, may I suggest Levee as a code name: it references a form of barrier, it is a (Louisiana) French word but most importantly it is also another word for dyke, which is exactly the combination pun/reclamation that I and most of the queer people I know enjoy. :V

[X] Plan: Gravity Black Rook
[X] Plan: Gravity Rook

On board with both of these new ideas, though right now I'm leaning more towards Black Rook for the reasons that Bitterman just stated.

In my efforts to now complete a 12 episode season of Behind the Hero, I have done a deep dive in search for inspiration... I think its working? Results are still pending... so Im going to post this and a new omake soon.

Behind the Hero: Blood Moon - SolarGemX (canon)

Behind the Hero: Blood Moon
By SolarGemX

~Is there something Strange, in your neighborhood~ ~Who you going to call?~

Who indeed? The world is ripe with things both weird and macabre, and that not going into what evil things may lurk in the shadows. From Villains to Behemoths, there isn't a shortage of modern day "monsters" running around, hoping to cause trouble. In the past, actual monsters were a thing of horror books and movies like Dracula or The Ooze, but with the advent of superpowers, even these titans of fright may seem cute by comparison. But those tales of fright and the lessons hidden within the pages have not gone quietly into the night, quite the opposite really, hidden withing the walls of Transylvania lie a group of monsters that have stepped out of the shadows and are ready to show the world that they never left, all the while spreading unmatched horror to any criminal that dares mess with their territory. Ghost and Ghouls of all ages, put your ghastly hands together for the nightmarish team of classical horror, today we take a glimpse at The Blood Moon's.

Team Blood Moon has been active for around 4 years and has primarily stayed in the Romanian Territories of Transylvania, this team is composed of 5 members and have an aesthetic influenced by classical horror monsters like the vampire, witches, and Frankenstein's monster. While primarily sticking towards city level criminal activity, the team on occasion has taken Behemoth hunts near the Romanian wilderness, one of their confirmed kills being a silver grade Aquatic behemoth that took residence in The Saint Anna Lake, this behemoth taking the look of a mutated Sarcastic Fringe head (Yes… that is a real animal, just like the Blue Belly Go Away bird) had caused visit's to the lake to plummet and had begun eating the local fauna that got to close to the lake for water. After an impressive maneuver from the team's water specialist, they were able to fish it out and quickly dispatch it.

The first member of the team and one of its founding members is Celeste Ardelean, also known as the Blood Red Umbramancer, Twilight Beast. At a tender 16 years of age, Ms. Ardelean has personally sought to inherit the fear brought by one of horror's most infamous monsters, Count Dracula. Brandishing an impressive gothic style apparel and a perhaps her most loyal companion Jack, she took to the streets of Oradea and began a shadowy crusade against its criminal inhabitants. This one-woman siege continued for around 2 years until an accident resulted in the loss of life of her beloved companion, which caused her to become far more cautious in her approach and push her umbral abilities to its limits. You see, Twilight Beast as you probably deduced can manifest and control a reddish black dark energy that she uses with exact precision. She can change its shape and form into spheres, tendrils and even weapons made of shadow. Additionally, she can cover herself in the shadowy mass to avoid attacks from more dangerous foes.

An interesting fac about Twilight Beast is that she once had a meeting with a previous episode's heroine, Blood Fang of the Fabled. From what few rumors we could find, the Vampire had tried recruiting the Werewolf into her team, but the offer was declined when it meant Ms. Jaeger had to fight non behemoth adversaries, even if the offer was extended to the rest of The Fabled. Understanding her reasons, Twilight Beast dropped the negotiation and both leaders left with amicable relations and an open invitation to call on one another in case they needed help.

The second member of Blood Moon was and currently is known as Jack; are you confused dear viewers? You may be wondering how Jack could be a member if he died, as stated during Ms. Ardelean's segment. Well, you only half right, Jack did infact die that night, but to Twilights Beast's surprise the unbelievable had happened, he came back and with a metahuman ability. Jack returned as the spookiest and cutest dog you have ever seen!

*Record Scratch*

I know what you're thinking: "I'm sorry he came back as what!?" Yes, my dear viewers, Jack is in fact a dog, a Transylvanian Hound to be exact. Jack has been with Ms.Ardelean since he was a puppy and had followed her during her hero work, sadly during one her of fights with the local criminal groups, Jack got caught in an explosion and got trapped in a burning building, where he lost his life. But as the embers of his life flickered away... a new flame began to burn. Jack's metahu-… hmm... Meta-animal ability is actually really familiar to the New Dawn member Deadman, just with a lot less magma. Jack's new and permanent appearance is the form of a dog skeleton with what seem to be blue flames working as his new body and from some witness testimonies a small black sphere inside the flames; well, when it's visible anyways. Jacks new form has a few more benefits than what meats the eye. The flames that make his body are actually cold to the touch and work as some form of pocket space, which can hold a number of things, just as long as he can cover them completely, using the flames that compose his body. Objects placed within are somehow "frozen" in time, during one test a fellow member of the team placed a sandwich inside the space, and it was just as fresh 3 days later, than it was the moment he placed it in. Another ability Jack has is the form of pseudo mimicry using animal bones. Jack can assimilate these bones and use them instinctively like the animals they originate from. To this day he has only absorbed two animal skulls found as decorations while raiding an enemy base, a rhino, and an alligator skull: providing the pup with a deadly bite and tackle.

The third member of the group is Known as Adrian Black or Gargoyle to his teammates. Mr. Black's meta human power is the ability to transform himself into stone, shaping it to give himself horns, claws, talons, and a tail; he is the tank of the team. Gargoyle's transformation while making him quite heavy actually removes his heat signature, heartbeat and need to breath; letting him do an extremely good act of a lifeless statue, more than one criminal has been scared when he suddenly started moving while they weren't looking.

(A fun fact: One time Gargoyle followed a criminal for over 30 minutes, stopping every time he looked back and not once, did he wonder why a statue was following him… he definitely failed a perception check…. Several times)

Fourth in our horror show is the living taser, Elena Rivets; otherwise known as Short Circuit! Ms. Rivets is fairly standard adult woman of around 25 years, if you don't count the fact, she an ex double amputee after a freak incident with a brown bear in the Romanian wilderness when she was 16 years old. She survived thanks to her metahuman ability to produce a close-range electrical shock from her body but ended up losing both arms due to the incident. She was later offered a pair of robotic limbs by an unknown criminal group due to finding out she had powers. Accepting at first, she eventually tricked her "suppliers" and managed to leave them unconscious long enough for her to escape and have them captured by the local authorities. Her costume being inspired by Frankenstein's monster, and with a bolt studded collar she joined Blood Moon and their close-range specialist, channeling her lightning through her metal limbs to deliver devastating punches to criminals.

The final member of the team is aquatic terror of the deep, Tide Bite; also, knowns as Stefan Popescu to his friends and OH GOD SO MANY TEETH! To his enemies. Mr. Popescu is fully Dysmorphic individual taking the appearance of a bi-pedal anglerfish. Standing at 5'6 feet tall, Tide Bite makes for an intimidating look, who he has further improved by acting like a feral monster when fighting or by acting like a straight up heel during PR events. Even with this aesthetic he is actually a pretty chill dude and is an actually a fan favorite among the Romanian populace, especially the children that see him as a "cool" fish monster. Yes, Mr. Popescu has taken his appearance and has rolled with it. In addition to his appearance, he can unhinge his jaw to take massive bites capable of tearing through solid steel, breath underwater and his lure has slight hypnotic properties, making enemies or in the case of a certain behemoth fight, come to him in a daze letting him land a strong wet webbed slap to his opponents.

Quite the monstrous menagerie aren't they folks? Having a much more dangerous edge over the usual high-flying heroes of the day, this group has taken to using the primal part of our brains that jumps at the monstrous and has run with it into the darkest pits imaginable, and we love them for it! We can only hope that more "monsters" like these can come out and decide to help in their own heroic ways in other parts of the world. Well, I've had my fill of horror for the day, this has been Behind the Hero, signing off!

Authors note:
And that's five, I think. There's a good chance I'll think of a new episode in the future, but this is my current brain backlog caught up. Say hello to Team Blood Moon! Now scream. Inspired by horror monsters, and those spooky critters, this team took was obviously inspired by some of horrors classical monsters like Dracula or the creature of the deep. With an extra thing or two mixed in. Twilight Beast was inspired by Seras Victoria from Hellsing Ultimate and the MC of Hollow Knight, Jack was inspired by the skeleton dogs of the Felheim faction in Wargroove, Gargoyle was actually inspired by the Yugioh card Labrynth Archfiend (I wonder if I should have given him a claymore…), Short Circuit was slightly inspired by Frankenstein from Fate (mostly in the female and metal arm parts) and Tide Bite was inspired by the Creature of the deep and the fact I wanted to see how many people are going to now search what a sarcastic fringe head is. Hope you all like this, and here's hoping the next few issues go well, or at least not as crazily as that save Opale mission…
the tutorial seriously?

If you are looking for suggestions... A leverage inspired LEGAL team with metahumans and lawyers that have a habit of committing extralegal yet not wholly illegal operations? Obviously a charity cause who else would be willing to do such murky legal business when most metas work for money.... Funded by a billionaire or corporate perhaps?

An artist collective representing team of performance and art inspired metahumans?

Oooh Red Cross supplement metahumans team?

I like every single one of these options.., The problem is finding a way to write them well, I know I said im making a 12 episode series, but sometimes I really struggle thinking of ways to not make them either op or repeat powersets. In fact I Solambulant was actually meant to be a member of another team I have written, but I decided to have her part of the Barnyard Rangers in the end. I DO think I have 3 more ideas in the works for a Chinese team, an insect kingdom team and a *gulp* Japanese Kamen Rider Team. (gods what am i Thinking.. I haven't touched a Sentai series since the OG Power Rangers... Mr.Kermie and any sentai fans in the forum... sorry in advance)

The leverage style charity team I saw as having very minor investigation powers.... With The Elliott being a normal human... Most metas can be taken down with a punch except those who aren't

Performance they could have useless mostly visual powers.

Red Cross supplement is random but probably have either minor healing or minor utility powers cause anything else would get snapped up by more combat metahumans teams.

Edit: granted you will have to get creative with the specifics cause even though these powers are limited they should probably be useful. side note but maybe make the leverage a documentary with more guesswork and less specifics when you talk about what they are rumored to do.

-[X] Name: Levee
