I just realized if we're dong Petit Prince, that's an argument to have a mass teleporter. His MO seems to be hiding himself up in a fortress with a lot of mind controlled innocent people to prevent us from just nuking the place.

We'll need a work around that, and a mass teleporter would do to for saving his victims. Precision teleport could work too if we can tag the Prince and get him somewhere isolated, but linking minds directly with the mind controller sounds dangerous. We'll want someone for mind shields in that case.

I think it's safe to assume that Faust talked with Earthen Owl right after we whooped his ass and got the info from him. Earthen Owl is on the list of "Known contractors", after all.

...do you think they were snooping around a known Ibis base in the hopes that some of his research could further their goals?

Possible, but I wouldn't bet on it. Earthen Owl was there to gather more manpower, or monsterpower in this case, for Powers.

Assuming that the 10 is the boy, and his drawback is helping him with his addiction, do you think Noelle is the 8 and Yara the 9 or vice-versa?
I would guess Noelle at 9, because currently she is hostile to Justice Unlimited and will have to be persuaded to join. Yara we are naturally going to help as part of Uiara's questline, and so she will be easier to convince.

On the side, I've compiled a list of max potency builds to choose from for our 3 high tolerance candidates. There might be important caveats that would cause us to reconsider using all 3 candidates. But here are the ideas I've seen concrete proposals for:
  • Almost certainly a reserved spot for EXCEED-BEYOND: extremely versatile power set, broken power null ability that will be vital against people like Scarlet Maturity, Backstage connection that is probably a huge plot hook. Plus what sort of would-be hero wouldn't want to pilot a giant mecha suit in the name of justice and do battle against the fated rival PREVAIL?
  • Apiary: Apiary. We are definitely getting some buff down the line that will let a max tolerance candidate use this. By nature of her power, useful for generating an overwhelming numbers advantage and threatening foes with mass lethal retaliation against them in dire situations.
  • All-in Clairvoyance: A plan for a homegrown Augur with some kind of substantial precognition. Failing that we get an oracle for operations and preferably a potent sensor for scrying enemy movements. Maybe we can get back at Lantern for spying on us.
  • Zeno builds: Spacetime powers almost always fall into the lap of final boss characters, and now we have the unique opportunity to have one on our side. In general lockdown powers are very strong if they can disable the enemy's trump cards and give us time to divide and conquer the remaining opponents.
  • Red Huntress builds: Specifically built around the mark target ability, the idea is specialize in hunting down quarries and being the ultimate 1v1 duelist.
  • Defy Together: All Defiance Unit heroes beside Zeno and Soldier X, plus an extra. The goal is a power copier, and failing that we combine combat powers with some teleportation and clairvoyance and whatever synergies arise.
  • Chimera: The form that Mona might've taken in a parallel world. The ultimate shapeshifter with all the utility that brings, plus the option to turn into a giant dragon.
Feel free to tell me if I missed anything. Speaking generally, I think it will be most useful if we go for builds that bring exotic powers or unique team roles to the table (e.g. aiming for something distinct from pure big hit hero when Black Swan exists).

Another build we might want to write up later is a 13 potency psychic, given that Mona and the EXCEED-BEYOND user (when out of the armor) both have psi vulnerabilities. Possibly a mental manipulation + clairvoyance synergy, may want to pick up more DNA from other psychics as well. I was aware of some psychic defense builds as well, but this would be just in case we want a psychic prodigy to proportionately counterbalance crippling psychic weaknesses.

…so what you're saying is that the Defiance Unit combo (all three versions of them: FFM, Clarivoyance focused, and Soldier X for extra lore accuracy) has some merit? Because it can't possibly be a coincidence that putting in everybody except for Zeno gives us 2x teleportation, some 2x that I already went over, and exactly 13 Potency.

Maybe it's like Wade Family, where while it isn't op because of Synergies, the power concepts just so happen to weave together.

And remember, even if it doesn't give us FFM or any synergy, Bitterman already said that:

Oh, there would have been a way [to defeat Scarlet Maturity]. Potency 13 is potency 13 in any form.
Memoria's main ability is teleportation; his clairvoyance is mostly to assist that. His power is more likely to focus on movement than remote knowledge.
All are signs that using that combo would probably be very useful down the line, especially for situations like the Petit Prince thing that you mentioned and also escapes from bigger enemies back over to the Apiary. (Leviathan, SM, Frozen Throne)

Seriously tho, I'd like to try out that build later down the line just because it seems cool. It would theoretically be split into two "halves" (Nox+Soldier X for melee, Memoria+Crimson Soprano for ranged) and be a mass teleporter pretty easily.

My gut desire is that Yara should be our uber psychic (I've already state that given how cynical she seems about people's motivations and intentions for her, giving her abilities to know what other people are planning to do to cut through bullshit would be fitting). Noelle, I want to do a Zeno-based set, but that's the weakest claim I have, I could be persuaded to use Apiary or something else. The boy, E-B.

I'm pretty set on Yara getting powers. It's the other two I'm more on the fence on whether we give Exceed Beyond or not. My gut speaks more towards Noelle personally, but I'd also prefer bringing the druggie first before making final decisions. Assuming of course we have time.

Going over things a bit

We have a want for a anti psychic character but no clue how to do that currently, we probably want a battlefield coordinator with Chatroom for John considering his current low hit set of stats (Chatroom/Bulwark combo ftw), and we want a teleporter for getting in and out as need be (mass is also wanted but not really sure how) for the main non combat orientedish roles.

Looking at who we have and costs below.

Zeno probably pairs with Antaneus for powers that work well together to make a Whitebeard expy or with Crimson Soprano + Millions Minefield for the confirmed FFM synergy. With the costs nothing else seems on those two's levels so far for Zeno.

Any dedicated general melee hero wants either Lightstep or Man-o-War probably? Lightstep wants Sewer Rat as a partner probably, and then depending on synergies a pick of {Daggermaw/Soldier X/Steadfast (If trying to alter the invuln type + Sewer Rat's defenses aren't enough/maybe Multiplex if going for 3 transformation tags}. Man-o-War might want Sewer Rat for doubling up Self-Enhancement, Daggermaw for Strength/Senses, and maybe Soldier X depending on our theories there synergy wise.

Any 1 v 1/assassin builds kinda have to be Red Huntress builds right now and there's at least an argument she can be bundled into the teleporter end as well due to marking synergy (Easy 3x Clairvoyance ftw).

Direct element controllers are Automne/Crimson Soprano (Probably? Makes FFM and she doesn't have many direct synergies yet) or Umibozo/Hydrocity combos right now, where they'd probably be hit/ops combos for AOE battlefield control ala Zeno? The Nox/Eastwood/Millions build could probably fit into this vein as well? The Nox and Umibozo builds could both also dabble with adding in Dragonsteeth due to the construct creation tags, though Nox's probably does it better due to feeding energy like crazy? The Wade Family build probably falls into this grouping as well.

But yeah, I'd say its Zeno, a dedicated melee, Red Huntress just for scaling to enemies, and AOE battlefield control for direct combatants, with a Chatroom build for battlefield coordination, some psychic/psychic defense build, EXCEED-BEYOND, and potentially a (mass?) teleporter in terms of broad niches that would be nice to fill.

For me I want to give a Yara Power with Bulwark and Steadfast in it. Should give us Powerful barriers at Potency 13 and make sure yara cant be killed easily and keep all our Heroes safe.

Remember Every Hero we have is both AP and stats for going on missions. So losing even a single hero is a big setback both mechanically and narratively. The movement show just how too many heroes can die so having someone with Power to literallty give death a middle finger is something the council would take seriously.

So having our Next P13 befocused on giving everyones shields to survive is best for me.

Probably have to ask wulong a synergy with Bulwark though to nake sure we dont fuck it up. We have 2 turns min before we need to give yara ambrosia so have time to figure it out atleast.

I had a plan for Lightstep

Lightstep+ Soldier X+ Sewer Rat

Gives us a Hero with all Enhancemet tags and Physical buffs of Regeneration, Invulnerability and fitness.

Im pretty sure there a synergy there somewhere cause all powers focused on enhancing a part of the human body should be able to merge to fom a greater whole.

Lightstep atleast shows with how his speeded needed both invulnerability and senses for him to use it properly since Supersonic movements arent easy on the body.

Its 11P so we can give it to a 7 after buffing their tolerance once.

Edit: Thoug Lightep+Daggermaw+Soldier X
Might be enough to get as a synergy since self enhancement seemed nore like an active power instead of a passive one like the other physical buffs were.

I'm still a fan of getting John to 6 so he can be on his mission and giving him Chatroom/Bulwark/+1 {Millions or Soldier X} for our main Bulwark option. It gives good synergy with Chatroom, gives John and our heroes extra methods of defending themselves early besides just Opale, and should lean into his top stat in Ops. Millions would be for trying to feed energy to the shields while Soldier X would be about getting John's body itself to peak human condition for the +1 power.

Eh my problem with that is apart from ally enpowerment Bulwark and Chatroom powers dont really mix to me.

Also I prefer to have our shileder belong to an S class cause QM has shown the sheer difference between A class and Potency 13.

If we dont want anyone to die we need the shields at the max possible power.

The thing is, we've been told that Scarlet Maturity or things on his level are not going to be on the table for the near future. We're in a calm, expanding and rebuilding, sandbox-y phase presumably before Stockpile and PREVAIL roll up for the midgame.

That just means having our shields ready before the Chaos appears again. Potency 13 still need to grind and gain exp to use their powers at their fullest as shown by BS hell even SM needed to grind to reach his level ambrosia is a bit of cheat in Fully mature powers but still need to hone them.

Also just because SM is bullshit doesnt mean the dangers oir heros have to face cant kill them. At the very least the injuries could put them out of comission for a mission givi g us lower stats and making completing the mission harder.

Huh? Bulwark could shroud any person or object he could hit with a beam in a forcefield that would disperse after enough impact damage or over a period of time, while having Energy Manipulation and Ally Empowerment. Chatroom could telepathically connect people within hundreds of yards, while having Clairvoyance and Ally Empowerment.

The only other power we have that has Ally Empowerment is Nephthys, so there is already a synergy there with frankly not that many alternatives tag wise. And otherwise, even if there isn't any ability to not need line of sight to beam someone anymore due to Chatroom (shielding through the connection instead) or even Millions (by using one of the mines to imbue it instead), it would be possible to get someone to move positions to be quietly shieldable rather than having to yell for them to get into position.

Even without the tag there is a solid synergy here in my eyes, it gives us another protection source besides Opale so the protection can be spread around between missions, and it fits with John's stat spread well. Plus like has been said, we're in a startup period right now before we can make a lot of the main powerhouses. This build would help with protecting our investments while getting up to steam.

Fair enough but I still prerfer a teleporter since thats another way to keep people safe and give us additional option.

While I want to us to have a S class shielder to lower risk of death as much possibel what we need right now is the tactical options that Teleportation gives us I feel. Since while Bs fighting SM was cool as hell and got her lots of gains she wouldnt have needed to fight him if we could have just ported away from Balthazar.

A Quick Check In, An Omake by ScorpioSting
"Hey, boss, this is Blue Skies."

"Yes, I know that. Why are you calling me?"

"Well, I wanted to touch base real fast. I didn't know if you knew yet. Are you at a computer right now?"

"Yes."

"You have digital copies of all the contracts you use with your power, right?"

"Trust me, I have everything in triplicate."

"Pull up Gwen's cousin's one."

"I do not like the tone you are taking with me. But I assume you have a point."

"Alright, I'll just say it. During our fight, she, well, revealed that she was a she. Fire girl took it horribly. Called it a perversion."

"…ah. I see why you felt this was pertinent information."

"I don't know everything, but I can put 2 and 2 together and get 4. She signed with her deadname, yeah? She said her new name was Opale."

"…you are correct. That is not the name on the contract."

"Well then, there's your answer for why it didn't work."

"…this is both more and less interesting than I had assumed the answer would be."

"I had to figure your things don't work with fake names, and I guess this counts."

"Yes. Still, this is nothing a few token rainbow flags around our offices won't fix. This is very much appreciated, Blue Skies."

"No prob. Can I get a raise for this?"

"No."

"Shame. Thought it was worth a shot. Anyway, I'm in a recovery bay. That girl banged me up bad, I have a-"

The line cuts dead as Faust hangs up.

"-concuss... …no respect, I swear."

I suppose my question is, with John's expected tolerance being 6 when setting him up if trying to have a teleporter for the Yara mission, what do you pair it with for John's build here. You'd have 5 points to work with and I struggle seeing what a good build with 6 tolerance involving Memoria looks like. In many ways it feels like a power that needs more to stand on its own directly in a battlefield than Bulwark or Chatroom, despite them all being support oriented powers.

I think I'm coming at it from the opposite end of you, namely that Memoria is the power that needs the higher tolerance build to reach its full potential, rather than being able to make a strong and coherent build at a lower tolerance.

Nox and Red Huntress are in this zone where they have enough tags to justify how high their Potency is, but because of it, they need to be guided towards a specific end by smaller samples, and it's guaranteed that not everything will make the cut.

Nox can get auto biokinesis with 8P

Nox+Daggermaw+Soldier X

Though honestly Nox and red huntress are probably best with build that reach S rank to take advantage of Potency buff and so we can make sure they retain as many Subpowers as they can.

BTW QM I did a retead of the thread and Handymans espionage Stat already has his +1 bonus from being already plugged in to Leizi networrk right?

Just checking since you forgot about Mona +2 rep bonus until you got reminded about it.
