Turn 1
(Professor Oak's POV)
"Fifteen years of peace... gone in a whirlwind." The thought lingered in your mind as you surveyed the rolling fields of your ranch, watching the Pokémon dash through the grasses, their movements no longer carefree but tense, as if they sensed the brewing storm on the horizon.
The warning signs were clear, weren't they? It had been coming for years. Crime had grown unchecked, fought with less vigor than it once was before the war. Trainers no longer sought wisdom in their journeys; instead, they gravitated towards packs, forming gangs defined by type allegiances. The joy and innocence of young Trainers venturing out to explore the world had twisted into something darker. Children now spoke of battles as if they were war, not adventure—more interested in conquest than camaraderie.
You had tried, hadn't you? Tried to be a guiding light in this era of uncertainty. Decades of work, hoping to leave behind the shadow of "The Unstoppable Oak," the unbeatable champion. After the war, you stepped down, left your position in the League and even your groundbreaking research to focus on something more—encouraging the people to rebuild, to embrace peace. For a time, it seemed like it might work.
But now, as you look over the land, your heart is heavy. The words of Agatha still echo in your mind, though she's long since gone. "Guess you were right about this peace not lasting," you muttered, glancing at the old photograph of her on your desk. A familiar ache stirred in your chest. Agatha always had a sharp tongue, but she was right more often than anyone cared to admit. Even Blaine, with all his optimism, couldn't smooth over what was coming.
A sigh escaped your lips. The raid had been brutal, though you and your allies had driven them off. You fought with all the tools you had left, though the scars they left behind were still fresh. The townsfolk had grown complacent in the quiet serenity of these peaceful years. But you, a man who had seen more battles than most, had never let yourself forget how quickly things could change.
"At least we stopped them," you mused aloud, flipping through the mental notebook you always kept in your mind. "Property damage aside, it could have been worse."
You shifted your focus to more practical matters, turning to the supply logs.
Starting Supplies: D20 => 19
The numbers were decent. 1,900 tons of trade goods and supplies, enough to weather an average winter during peacetime. But now? There was no telling how long this stockpile would last in a world teetering on the edge of chaos.
The faint sound of the wind rustling through the leaves outside was your only company as you closed the ledger and rose from your desk. The ranch, once a peaceful haven, was now a fortress against uncertainty. Your Pokémon sensed it too. The world was changing again, faster than anyone could have predicted.
And you... you had no choice but to stand ready for what was to come.
You marked it down and opened your ledger, This was going to be a long day.
