And probably also a degree of jealousy. What with Prof Oak forging his own path in research, leaving her research group do at least in part not agreeing with the angle of research, only for his 'daft idea' to help make him practically legendary in the field of Pokémon research. And then there is the fact he had the AUDACITY to retire from pokemon battling after becoming champion, a blow to her pride at not being able to surmount him, and also showing a bit of how the two see the world differently. Albeit this is mostly guesswork.
 
Given the situation and how every group, including Rocket was very much shaken up. Could we find out anything about the TR internal factions? Given the faction that crimson accidentally founded might be useful to work with. And hey, maybe we could stumble onto that eevee scheme research lab wherever it might be.(Or possibly one of the two, given based on prequel omake, it kinda became a sort of 'faction battleground' of sorts between old guard scientists and 'crimson's faction'.)

I hazard a guess, that as prof oak, we'd be interacting with Rocket in some manner. Given we'd be next door neighbors with Giovanni, and the other locations for him to expand is into the mountain fortress of Pewter and possibly needing to deal with Rota, or blaze a path outside the routes to Celadon......

...Though, now I can't help but wonder, given that Prof Oak was a colleague of Blaine's at one point.... 🤔

I mean we can totally play as Oak and then ally as Surge. They have the same goal after all.

So we get the best of both choices that way.

Also question: are other regions going to get involved, even if marginally.
For example, Clair (Jhoto) and Janine. They still have some ties to Kanto (family and stuff).

The G.O.A.T. of Pokemon the one who basically did this shit one time already and has to come out of retirement to fix it again btw is mewtwo still a thing if yes could we work together with him as he would be kinda .... iffy on rocket and Samuel Oak is all about bonds?Btw thanks raven for the link i would love govanni but i have seen enough rockets sheme to know they mostly work to good with unexpected consequnces *cough*mewtwo trying to wipe out human kind.

Well Oak would be fine even without us guiding him but as Giovanni we would have far more reach and one of delights of being the Villain/Antagonist in a setting is there is nothing to be afraid of because you are the one supposed to drive the plot.

In a way you don't have to worry about cataclysm.
