My Life as a Teenage Juggernaut... (Worm AU x Marvel)

omake series Armsmasters Ever Escalating Tests of Taylornaut's Durability
starts off as just regular power testing before it becomes a point of obsession for him so he can make a weapon to defeat endbringers

So please, don't try that again."
I kind of like the idea of thinker shards struggling to remember that Taylor has non-shard-based powers. Like, they'll come up with increasingly elaborate plans that somehow continue to fail to take into account the fact that Taylor is immensely strong and durable. Taylor is a bit annoyed, but doesn't mind the fact that she can walk out of the deathtraps like they are made of styrofoam.

honestly this is something that people always forget about Contessa: Her power lets her do anything that is theoretically possible for a Normal Human to accomplish (which is actually a lot more than most people would think) but at the end of the day she's a baseline human and that means there's things that she just... can't do.

If she had to, say, fight a Kryptonian and was fresh out of kryptonite, then she would be Very Screwed.

PtV can beat Superman very easily: He's a nice guy, who is friends with some people who very much are not, and who would understand trying to stop the unstoppable. He'd hate what she ahs done in canon, but he could be talked down from "Kill Contessa" to "Kill Scion before he kills a nearly infinite number of Earths." Defeating the undefeatable, with PtV, is in finding ways around the problem. There is a definite limit, but in a setting where Superman can be beaten by Batman, Contessa would stand a chance against any kryptonian, provided she starts her Path while there is still a chance to act at all.

The actual damage to Taylor's brain could have been from bone shards that hit the right parts of her brain to remove her conscious ability to receive or send messages to QA without actually destroying the gemma and making QA start guessing about what it should be doing. PtV is all about odds that are so low we'd normally stick them in the 'impossible' column, but that still should be in the 'technically, if looked at from the right angle, maybe possible' column. Taylor talking to not!Mom was a bit of a poor epilogue, but Worm is filled with bad writing.

Well, if you allow the Batman that they write who can defeat anyone because he's already out-thought them ... I kinda liked one cartoonists response to that meme when he drew Superman floating in space saying to the viewer. "You realize all I have to do is wait and then hit him with heat vision from space. He will lower his guard at some point, because all people do."

That's his real superpower: he never lowers his guard.

If you go by Taylor's thoughts in the epilogue, what Contessa did was disable her temporarily and have someone else turn off her powers (The Slug is the only one who could do that canonically, though Panacea might be able to as well given more time to learn how) and have her healed up by either Bonesaw or Panacea. Also, remember that it's established that messing with the connection between the shard and the parahuman in any way causes fluctuations and/or changes in the power, but does not negate the power completely - unless, of course, that is what the parahuman's power is designed to do.
Here are my thoughts on the matter:
Consider that it wouldn't fit with how Worm works: bad things happen, then even worse things. The characters do not get 'happy' or 'good' endings; they will inevitably mess up their own lives and die. Because that's somehow more real? than people living out their lives in peace.
Just saying that it's more likely that Taylor's epilogue represents her afterlife.

I won't say any more on this as it's off topic.

My point was that the change could have been to the tissue around the gemma, rather than to the gemma itself. I agree that it's a lousy way to handle the issue, made worse by Taylor choosing to die rather than risk what Khepri could do being such a selfless and heroic note for the character to end on, then having her survive anyway.

He doesn't need for Batman to let down his guard at all. He could pulp Batman, blast him into a fine mist, in far less than a second. The character wouldn't do it, which is a large part of how Batman survives, much less thrives: the only people he gets close enough to for them to do that are people he has a lot of respect and even trust for.* I was going more along the line that the best way to stop a Kryptonian is to come at them from a different angle, such as talking down Clark. PtV could get her to a magical artifact if talking isn't an option, or any number of technological options, provided she started the Path before the person in question was already aware of her and set on killing her.

*There was a comic arc where Lex stole Batman's plans for taking out the Justice League. The others were outraged that he had those plans; he was outraged that they didn't have one for him. What got glossed over entirely is how much effort he put into finding non-lethal ways to neutralize them in case they got mind controlled, as has happened repeatedly.

In the Story Emissary something like this happens. Fair warning, the story is kinda dark, especially for a Justice League crossover. Batman's paranoia gets him killed then Supes inadvertently hands over all of Batman's files to some people who want to see the League dead.

What boggles my mind about Batman's plans to defeat the Justice League is two things. First, his plan on how to defeat Superman did not use kryptonite at all. Instead, it was to hit Superman with something that supercharges his ability to absorb solar energy. Thus the plan to defeat Superman was to literally make Superman stronger. The second part was what Batman said his plan was for if he ever goes rogue. Batman's plan for how to stop himself is... the Justice League. All of the Justice League all at once. Yes, even the former members. Even though he has plans for how to defeat the entire Justice League all at once.

It's also amusing to me that the only one who Batman's stolen plans failed against was Green Arrow, who's also a skills and training based hero.

My understanding is that any plan Batman comes up with for stopping himself he will come up with a counter for, so he's left it up to others to figure out how to stop him.

This actually came up in an episode of Justice League during the Justice Lords arc; when Justice Lords Batman held the league members in prison, Batman stated he couldn't get them out because he would have counters to everything he could do. The Flash, on the other hand, was able to escape by trying a trick Batman didn't have an easy counter for...

(In TV, I did an omake on the 'Oops Family', who mean well, but... Pity there's only one Varga, so they have to share them with the more normal Family... Poor Lucy, having to wear two nested Suits, just to get by...)
Link? I don't remember this one, and it hasn't been that long since I read through all the omakes.....

It's one of the unindexed Omake/Apocrypha that litter a typical MP-Pi story.

Taylor Varga (Worm/Luna Varga) Crossover

Time To What? (Omake) "Oops!" Saurial, of The Family, confronted various members of The 'O' Family, at the charity gala. Max Anders lying motionless, on the floor. "What happened this time? What are you three reprobates doing here?" She looked down on the grass, which was as messed-up as...

That should be it. It's also in two parts, and links are provided.

Did you read Tower of Babel? I did. Batman created a special Kryptonite isotope that made Supes skin translucent. To overwhelm him with sensory input so he'd be unable to act. He trapped WW in her own mind with a foe she couldn't defeat. Altered Martian Manhunter's skin to burst into flames on contact with Oxygen. Fucked with Aquaman's mind to make him terrified of water. Made Flash unable to slow down for more than a nanosecond. I forget what he did to GL, blinded him or something.

And to take out Batman Ra's Al-Ghul (the one who used Batman's plans on the JL) stole his parents coffins and put them over a Lazarus pit with a timer to drop then in. Then sent Bruce pics.

I wonder if there's a (self)contradictory WoG from Wibbles about the 9mm double tap lobotomy?

Anyway...

Contessa attempts the same on Taylornaut.

Taylor barely notices. Contessa will need medical attention from the splinters of shrapnel. Just because Taylor's forcefield has simply stopped bullets dead doesn't mean that's always the case. QA gets pissed at PtV, the bullets will act like they hit the armor belt of the USS Iowa; The armor doesn't notice, and the bullet goes all to pieces. QA simply has the field throw the pieces back at PtV's host.

Contessa receives a note while recuperating: "Armsmaster got my permission to test my invulnerability with a MAAWS M3 recoilless rifle. I have one of the penetrators that splashed on me in my Wards quarters. Armsmaster took the other for analysis. He couldn't get permission from my father and Director Piggot to borrow an M1 tank from Fort Debbens to make an attempt. So please, don't try that again."
*Uses Path of Victory to perfectly shoot Taylor in the eye at the exact angle to preform the lobotomy*

Taylor: "God-fucking-dammit, why do the Thinkers always aim for the eyes?" *Grumbling as she has remove the deformed bullet from her invulnerable cornea.*

Batman himself says that He leaves it up to who ever is trying to stop him, but that his parents are a weakness to be exploited.
Cant remember if Alfred was included though. probably was.

I'm not sure it was said in Tower of Babel or not but anyone he considers family is a way to get to him. Unless he's gone right round the bend, like Batman who laughs. But that's Alfred, all his sons, and the Batgirls. Maybe Jim Gordon.
